Newcastle have been tracking Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga according to a recent report in The Sun. The young Spaniard has been a revelation in his first full season with Celta’s senior side.
Veiga got a taste of first-team football last season appearing in ten matches. This season he has become an influential presence with 8 goals and 3 assists in 23 La Liga appearances.
Those exploits have landed him on the radar of Newcastle and Manchester United with the Magpies keen on adding quality at the top of the pitch this summer. While the sample size is small, Veiga could become a special talent.
Celta Viga are trying to tie down their home-grown midfielder on a new long-term deal primarily to remove or increase his £35m release clause. His current contract runs until 2026 so there is little chance he’ll be prised away from the Balaidos for anything less.
The 20-year-old is one of a number of up-and-coming talents Newcaslte are monitoring. He would fulfill a need at the top of the pitch and could be one to watch during what is shaping up to be an exciting summer on Tyneside.
In other news, Newcastle have missed out on Jamaican talent Dujuan Richards. The teenager, who spent 2 weeks on trial at Newcastle, has reportedly inked a pre-contract with Chelsea.

Comment #41That game we played at theirs early in the season was a dour affair, I think we’re two of the lowest scorers in 2023, I’d obviously like to see us do more but I think most people would take a 1-0 now.

Comment #44Jail…my gut feeling is this will be yet another dour affair with wolves sitting back knowing we’re sh1te at breaking down defences. We play our best football when the opposition come at us and we wrestle possession and break fast. Everyone has seen we are rubbish at a breaking down the low block so its a go to strategy for just about every team below us now.
Frustrating as hell but we need to work out a way of dealing with that

Comment #46I feel it in my waters that we’ve got a storm brewing for Wolves today. The narrative shifts today again in our favour with a stellar performance and a few goals to boot.
Too much negativity creeping into what has already been a cracking season. We’ve had a mini blip in goalscoring despite still playing very well, and I think we rectify those issues today.

FtC,
You never answered me earlier, why do some on here use voting Labour as an insult, you had a bit to say on the question but didn’t give an answer.
11
Jail. I would like to answer this, or give MY OPINION on this.
Labour is not the what is was, I grew up in a family of Labour voters and when old enough I voted Labour in every type of election I was eligible to. THEN I woke up, for Me it started in 98, I continued to vote Labour but I had questions, Why were we taken in so many refugees from former Yugoslavia and giving them everything, you could go to tesco in Gateshead and watch them play the system, they would have 30 pound in vouchers for food, but then fill trollies of food, and take them to the till and plead not to understand, but they didnt do this alone, it was 7-10 all going through the tills at the same time, the manager would come dome and take names and address and let them walk out with hundreds of pounds of food, these people would then sell it. rinse and repeat. GOV paid for it all.
Next was my father in law, an electrician his whole life, by the time he got to 55, we noticed he had problems, he got fired from his job, because he was making to many mistakes, signed on the dole, after a while of not being able to get a job, his wife took him to the doctors for tests, and these test took over a year, because they could see a problem, but couldnt diagnose it, after being on the dole for 18 month and 6 month into tests, the DHS stopped their money, because they said he was playing the system, for 5 month they got no help because there wasnt a diagnoses, when they got the diagnoses of Early onset of Alzheimer’s, no apology or back dated money, he died 4 years later, my mother in law lost her job, because she needed more time to help Fred with feeding and other things, her last 6 month before her retirement, the local Gov made her find a job or they would stop her money.
Our local government is Ran by Labour councils, these labour councils seem to have endless money to invest in every minority project there is out there, but when it comes to local people who have paid into the system their whole lifes.
Everywhere I look All I see is people like Gary Lineker or Gary Nevil spouting how bad things are, Telling us how bad these foreign people have it, but they never look at our own people, I think they think because they are multi millionaires, every English person is also on that level, but last time I checked its all these Rich Liberals trying to hide all their money so any government cannot get to it, keep it for themselves.
Right now I dont see much off difference between Liebour or CONservative, they basically ROB the middle class to try and help the world, for instance https://www.voanews.com/a/rwanda-defends-40-million-tourism-ad-campaign/4419497.html or https://www.horndiplomat.com/2017/01/08/britain-scraps-9million-foreign-aid-for-ethiopias-spice-girls-after-mail-revealed-blood-boiling-waste-of-taxpayers-money/
I also have a HUGE problem with Funding Ukraine making sure that people living there have enough for their pensions and other hand outs, as well as directly funding a war we have nothing to do with.
The BBC seems to back and promote everything that goes against the British people, the news is always leaning very far left, its more of an opinion than news now.
this is Labour

Agreed on no politics, although the refugee debate is more a social issue.
Just to clear up false figures
Albanians – only last year they accounted for a 1/3. This year that loophole is closed so no longer the case. The Albanian government worked with the British to stop this.
Also 94% of refugees applying for asylum get it as they are escaping persecution
This is according to the bbc report today on one of their news programs

Comment #59Motd was bad last night. Should be extended highlights no need for pundits ever again but make it extended highlights and sort out the rights to commentators. Pundits are just like fans debating incidents to their opinions we dont need to hear it. Only prefer tactical analysis but pundits rarely do it

Comment #62The bookmakers have Wolves at 5/1 so must rate Howe and this Newcastle side better than a few of the doubters — those that couldn’t get their head around losing to Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City.
Nothing wrong with misplaced faith I suppose… but considering Howe has the team competing against these sides, with conversion % being the biggest problem, then I do not understand the reasoning of people saying Newcastle isn’t ready for the Champions League. There’s only a few teams in the CL arguably better than the last 3 sides we played — and it’s unlikely there would not be firepower added if the side did finish in the top 4.
I am going to stay silent on the Lineker thing. It might be a good idea to remember this is an international blog, and there will be Newcastle supporting migrants reading. I cannot imagine how they must feel reading the blog over the past few days.

Comment #69Reading the comments I think I must be in the minority but I enjoy listening to pundits – especially when they highlight some technical point in the game that I certainly had not noticed. I also enjoy the banter between Lineker and the pundits – in lockdown some of their top 10 programs were excellent.
I also think some of you are missing the point re Lineker – yes you might not like him and think he’s an overpaid fop BUT this is highlighting whether someone who works for the BBC and not connected to news or current affairs programs is allowed to express a personal opinion on his socials! If not where does it end – is an extra in a BBC drama bound by these rules???

Comment #73Martoon – agreed on Lineker , him shearer and micah are excellent.
As for his views, a Point to clear up is were his views political or social.
He highlighted the language used, nothing else that I can see.
When you Read up on the language I think you can understand why he is making a point. “Invasion” etc etc. in context if 94% are refugees the language used is unacceptable.

Surely the point at issue is whether the supposedly impartial Beeb felt it had to respond to letters from over 20 Tory MPs.
Other Beeb stars and personalities have issued anti government comments over the years without any major repercussions.
I, among many others, accept that uncontrolled immigration and particuarly by economic migrants needs to be dealt with but demonising all ‘boat people’ isn’t the way to do it.
So why the MPs” letters of objection?
The government’s under-resourced the Home Office to the point where there’s a massive backlog of applications to process – another product of 13 years of mismanagement and thus it’s scapegoating supposed refugees and thus diverting attention away from the dogs’ breakfast it’s created.

Comment #76I dont mind linekar as a presenter and like the top 10 show too. Chemistry between linekar shearer wright micah is one in a million. Just some of the punditry is unnecessary and i just prefer the tactical analysis. If they cant do that leave it to extended highlights. Thats all i meant
