Newcastle are in the market for a new left-back this summer. The club have set the bar high with interest in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney and Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco, two marauding left-backs who can add some more excitement to the left flank.

Either would cost significant funds as they are both on contracts that run until 2026. Newcastle may have a backup plan with 90min reporting of an interest in Bournemouth’s Jordan Zemura, who is out of contract this summer.

Zemura seems destined to leave Bournemouth as negotiations on a new deal have been anything but smooth. The Cherries triggered a yearlong extension last season to keep him around for their return to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has impressed in his first season in the Premier League. While he doesn’t have the attacking prowess of Tierney or Dimarco, he has held his own and will only improve as he gains experience.

Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil dropped the left-back for their 1-0 win over Liverpool last weekend. It appears that his contract situation facilitated the decision. He still has 22 appearances this term.

Zemura was brought to the Vitality Stadium by Howe in the summer of 2019 as a free agent from Charlton. The report suggests that West Ham are the Zimbabwe international’s main suitors. Newcastle’s interest appears to be peripheral at the moment as their top targets remain in play.

As you know the Southampton game was orginally to be on Saturday the 29th but was moved to the following day with a 2pm start, so we will be getting a flight home on the Sunday evening it’s usually a 9-50 flight back mate

Magic – fair enough. Unless it’s easy for you to extend your trip by a night. I figured I’d take Friday off and drive up throughout the day. Have Friday night there, do something in the area on Saturday, football is for Sunday and then travel back on Monday at some point. More relaxed that way. All hinging on a ticket of course.

Peter I would have no problem what’s so ever mate, but it’s Ruddy who done the booking with the apartment so you can speak to him when he is on again mate, I’m actually meeting him on Sunday at a hotel for Sunday dinner to make final plans we will try and work something out ok Peter

Magic – sounds good. That’s more walking than a round of golf so you’re fit enough! I’m going to try and put in a lot of work this year to improve my golf and see how far I can get my handicap down. I feel there’s a really good round to come soon. Once my short game clicks, I should be beating my best ever round easily.

Pug – I got a decent hotel in the city centre. 3 nights in a mini suite with a king sized bed. Breakfast included. £380 for the 3 nights. Not bad for that weekend.

Karius – I can’t help but think he’d have extended his contract for longer if he and Howe had wanted to.
Gillespie – could still stay longer as an experienced 3rd choice keeper
Ritchie – definitely will be released
Dummett – presumably released too

I have an update on what's happening with my treatment for prostate cancer.

Last week, my oncologist called me late in the day and said he thought it was best to terminate my treatment with radium 223 dichloride because it was having such a negative effect on my health - specifically my digestive system.

I had completed 3 of the planned 6 infusions.

They had looked at the bone scans and three CAT scans I had early last week, and they showed no signs of the cancer spread being slowed or stopped: in fact, it was continuing to spread and my PSA account continued to rise.

The only treatment left now is to go back and have another bout of chemotherapy with docetaxel being the medication used.

I understand this will be a 7-month job with 10 sessions 3 weeks apart - almost double my first chemo treatment in Apil 2017, when I has 6 treatmnts.

The problem I have is that I'm in a very poor physical state right now, due to my digestive system being basically torn apart by the radium 223.

The radium 223 has leaked into my digestive system and caused me to have severe diarrhea, nausea, and heartburn, and it was (is) very serious.

They said it was too dangerous to proceed with the radium 223 treatment, with little benefit being shown.

I am also suffering from severe exhaustion, basically, because I have zero testosterone, and all the treatments I've had for the cancer, have further lessened the energy available to me.

It reminds me of the saying that if cancer doesn’t kill you - the treatment will (laugh).

It will probably take up to 8 weeks to get back to a physical state where I can start chemotherapy, and that's where I am now, but the cancer continues to spread in the bones.

I've also been put in touch with the dietitian from UNC Healthcare, who will help me get back my health - she is very helpful.

So that's where it stands it's been quite a journey over 12 years and I think I've had almost every treatment available.

It has really taken a toll on my body and on my energy, but that's where it stands and obviously, I'll do the best I can in the upcoming months with chemo and hope I can get through it.

It is as it is - and another challenge in life.
