Newcastle have reportedly rekindled their interest in Fulham’s Joao Palhinha ahead of what looks to be an active summer window. The 27-year-old has been a revelation since signing for Fulham last summer for the bargain fee of Β£17m.
The Sun is reporting Newcastle are among six Premier League clubs holding an interest in Palhinha. For Newcastle, the interest is not new as he was on their radar as recently as February of last year.
Newcastle didn’t move for the Portuguese international, who has starred at Craven Cottage for the resurgent Cottagers. The defensive midfielder’s value has increased significantly just 8 months after from his move to West London.
The Portuguese international is one of the primary reasons Fulham are fighting for a European place in their return to the Premier League. Fulham has fallen off the pace in recent weeks without their suspended midfield enforcer.
There are some issues with Newcastle’s interest as he doesn’t quite fit the profile at St. James’ Park. He’ll turn 28 this summer while his price tag could reach a staggering Β£50m with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham on his trail.
Palhinha would be an outstanding signing but Newcastle are likely to look elsewhere for their deep-lying midfielder. The club have shown they will not overspend and prefer to sign targets under the age of 25.

I see you haven`t it in your diary to attend the Newcastle v Southampton game in April at the moment unfortunately, i hope that changes as we are going to have another very popular blog meeting in the D&P as a loyal blog stalwart your presence would be very much appreciated mate. PS the blog meeting invitation extends to all Blog members, the more the merrier.

Unfair to say the new signing flopped when their best performer performed worst than the new signings.

Comment #83If I remember correctly Colback was probably their best player on opening day – not saying a lot I know as they were often overun that day
Lot of changes in their side since and it will be strange to see Shelvey against us so soon – assuming he plays

Your stats confirms what i was telling EGB in Colback is not a regular starter for Forest but might feature at some point from the bench mate.

Even though I haven’t and won’t be able to get a ticket it’s a tempting thought to just join you all before game – I’ll keep it in mind

Comment #89Point probably most like outcome this weekend, but certainly we are more than capable of taking all three. We’ve now got a core of 20 or so players good enough to see us finish top six from where we are now. I think we need 5 more of quality to compete on a

Comment #94……all fronts next term, should we get Europe, and genuinely go after silverware. But regardless, we have a genuinely competitive group right now, and much of it is down to the likes of Schar, Longstaff, Willock, Murphy, Almiron, Joel showing their true worth, with better players around them. We aren’t the finished article, by a long chalk, but we’ve certainly arr

Comment #98I guess this settles the “is he” or “isn’t he” a Centre Forward question!
” Howe now believes Isak is capable of ‘great things’ in a black and white shirt.
Everything that a centre-forward needs, I think he has.”

Comment #99Forest have 7 players on the injury list just when they need a full strength squad. They’ll be desperate not to lose so I can see them renaming the City Ground to Parque de Busse. I hope Eddie’s plan to break it down works. A draw wouldn’t be a disaster but we should be winning this game.

Comment #115I have hunch and hope some of our near misses will start going in again. Ok think the lads have the cup behind them, more days between games right now, the link up play is back on the uptick and Forest are not playing well. They have a fee injuries especially in the front and after watching Shelvey in a lot of the last game it seems not much has changed. Seemed a bit slow and his attempts at “special” passes were numerous and most never found thier intended target. I think with Gordan and Big Joe still out we will see the same lineup with maybe Miggy back in as I think he just needed the break. Either way hoping to see ay least 2-3 goals fall in the first half and get a solid win and go into the break on a real high note.
