Newcastle are the walking wounded as they begin their training camp in Dubai. After the win at Nottingham Forest, Eddie Howe detailed the injuries afflicting his squad. Those struggling at the moment are Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon, and Allan Saint-Maximin.
The quartet could be available when Manchester United come to St. James’ Park to kick off a congested April. Newcastle will have navigate next month without leading goalscorer Miguel Almiron, who is out for six weeks with a thigh injury.
There is now news that another prominent member of the squad has picked up an injury. The Athletic is reporting that Nick Pope has dropped out of the England squad with an injury suffered prior to Friday’s win. Former Magpie and local lad Fraser Foster has been called up by Gareth Southgate to replace Pope.
Pope reportedly missed training last week with the undisclosed injury but managed to start and play the entirety of the 2-1 win at Forest. The 30-year-old’s withdrawal appears to be precautionary and he should be available to face the Red Devils in two weeks.

I think you’ll find there were two of us in the top ten captained Super Saka. Ee-i-ee-i-ee-i-oh up the Harrison’s league I go.
😉
I had a real lucky escape this week (and last week). 9 points behind with both me and my opponent having 3 Arsenal players and Arsenal captains. Although I fancied Saka to end his two game dry spell with a double, for the second week in a row everything in the last game that could have possibly gone my way did. Even White got an assist. Last week I got last day Brentford and Brighton clean sheets with Toney getting two goal involvements and Mitomo one. I think I had another miraculous escape a week or two before. Next week I’m planning on letting TDS get a 30 point lead, then smashing in a late hat-trick Roy of the Rovers style to claim victory.

Comment #283I hope Trips pulls out of the England squad for a jolly in Dubai, I think his England career is on the wane anyway. In saying that, players are still getting call ups at 41, Zlatan and Modric are still going strong, so he’s probably, in fact most definitely got the Euro’s in him next year.

I’m not going to beat myself up about it, I never even considered him for the captaincy, I went Toney as something different and he was the worst out of my three viable options 😀

Comment #286Oh dear, a feel a consecutive run on the cards. Not much kudos for them in the int break, in fact, looking at my records book, I don’t even think I’ve recorded any since 2011 for the breaks, the last entry was WWJBD with 24 in September 2011, I gave up after that.

Good tackle there on Jail.
I would have gone in studs-up but I was too busy admiring my FPL come-back against Asi Fish to notice.
Unlucky Asi Fish, my Saka captaincy trumped your Isak.

Should be plenty time for me to get the FPL results and tables out in the international break.
I’ll draw promotion / relegation lines in the H2H tables, that might focus a few minds in the run-in!

Wor B, you may just gimme the promotion from Division 3 now mate 😉 haha it has been a pretty lucky run from GW16 to now that is bound to come crashing down at some stage…though I’d be surprised if it were this week as I’m planning on having at least 11 doublers in GW29 where I’ll deploy the BB and I’m taking on “Average” but knowing my luck that’s who’ll finally beat me 😆

Isn’t Tynemouth around the corner from Whitley Bay. When I was a lad we walked from Tynemouth to Whitely Bay and Cullercoats. Not sure what order but they all seemed close to each other.
From South to North.
Tynemouth, Cullercoats, Whitley Bay. All very close to each other.

Comment #315Always have mixed feelings on Shearer. Absolutely fantastic player and true folklore legend. However, he did admit he had only agreed to come here if he was made the highest earner and Shepherd basically promised him chocolates on his pillow every day. The saying ”one man isn’t bigger than the club” was given the lie by Shepherd who indulged AS at every turn. I am sure there was an element of the tug of home for AS but not exactly the ”I would walk on broken glass to play for NUFC”.
Also when SBR realised AS’ best days were behind him amongst talk of selling AS to L’pool, AS allegedly went to see Shepherd. SBR was gone and in walked Souness who AS had recommended would instil discipline.
For balance, when I hear Shearer talk now, I find him both entertaining and knowledgeable.

Thanks for the offer but my electrician first-fixed a couple of weeks ago, had him back on Friday to complete.
Probs run a blog competition this week, with the top ten winning a prize to join my painting / decorating party, I might even waive the £10 entry fee.

Comment #318Just watched the highlights of Fulham, firstly Marco Silva, what are you doing, he 100% didn’t help his team.
As for Mitro, he’s always been a hot head but after your manager is sent off and then one of your players what made him think shoving the referee was going to be the best course of action.
Fulham had Man U banged to rights from what the highlights showed, even at ten men and Mitro still on the field they could have won that game.
Just shows us that Man U at St James are there for the taking, I really want to see another 5-0, but of course would take 1-0.

Comment #319Yes he isn’t bad as a pundit I suppose. When he first started I cringed every time he came on.
I worshipped him like every other toon fan when he was banging them in for us..
But it’s a bit tarnished now,for me.
In the dark days of that thieving fat get MA – he had the mic, the profile, to get behind the anti Ashley movement and stick the boot in in support of the fans, who were struggling to keep the protest alive.
He could have put the real story across far more, in the face of media ignorance.
He didn’t. And you could say that was because of his own personal media interests at the time.
