Newcastle are the walking wounded as they begin their training camp in Dubai. After the win at Nottingham Forest, Eddie Howe detailed the injuries afflicting his squad. Those struggling at the moment are Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon, and Allan Saint-Maximin.
The quartet could be available when Manchester United come to St. James’ Park to kick off a congested April. Newcastle will have navigate next month without leading goalscorer Miguel Almiron, who is out for six weeks with a thigh injury.
There is now news that another prominent member of the squad has picked up an injury. The Athletic is reporting that Nick Pope has dropped out of the England squad with an injury suffered prior to Friday’s win. Former Magpie and local lad Fraser Foster has been called up by Gareth Southgate to replace Pope.
Pope reportedly missed training last week with the undisclosed injury but managed to start and play the entirety of the 2-1 win at Forest. The 30-year-old’s withdrawal appears to be precautionary and he should be available to face the Red Devils in two weeks.

Comment #321I don’t understand why that whimpy Bruno Fernandes is the deputy captain, Varane should be the one. Glad it’s Man Utd’s loss

Well done on your FPL performance to date!
Third in Ed’s general league and top of H2H D3.
Unfortunately for you, I’ve just remembered a little known rule, FPL managers with a passing resemblance to Tyson Fury and an Irish accent receive a 10 point deduction at the end of the season.
However, there is a clause attached to reinstate the points on payment of ÂŁ10…
The usual address. đ

Comment #326Rotonda – I donât have a problem with that at all from Shearer. Thereâs a difference between his love for the club and his attitude towards his career as a highly ambitious man. His agent will have been involved in the latter too. Clearly, Man Utd would have been better for his ambitions yet he chose his hometown club. He doesnât seem to regret it either.

Comment #328Magic, for the “Game” well done. In my opinion, Steward turned his shoulder in. Red card for me and said it live. In a pub full of Irish! I know all the pundits called as harsh but for me. Red card.

Morning mate
In reference to Shearer he no doubt realised he would have had a much better chance of winning silverware had he signed for Man Utd rather than Newcastle but still signed for the Toon, it`s not surprising as far as i`m concerned as he was a dyed in the wool Geordie and loyalty still meant something in that era !!!
But sadly loyalty in football now in this era is a distant memory mate.

Peter as i told you on Saturday two minutes into the match i would be very happy with a 1 point victory mate, as regards to the English lad getting sent off, yes it was possibly a bit harsh, but it would have had no relevance to the final result !! Not just my words but the words of former England coach Clive Woodward post match on Saturday. PS Don`t argue with me otherwise you will be sleeping on the sofa in April big man đ đ đ

Comment #332Magic – itâs a rare thing for players to choose their hometown club when a âbetterâ option comes along. It was rare then and itâs rare now. Kane and Gerrard are 2 perfect examples of players who could easily have moved and won more trophies.
I think youâre romanticising the past a little. Waddle and Gazza both left Newcastle United for example.

Week of annual leave and only a handful of jobs to do around the house.
Sat with cuppa in my hand, watching every video of Newcastle United on Facebook…
Couple of hours chilling doesn’t harm anyone.
Hope they do some videos of the boys out there soon, if they don’t I might have to watch some Adam P videos! đ

Not Romanticising the past at all mate, although i get the gist of what you mean, i just basically meant there was still some semblance of player loyalty left in the game in the Shearer era, but not exclusively, in contrast to the modern era where loyalty is pretty much as extinct as the Dinosaurs.
