Newcastle To Make Another Attempt At Landing Howe’s Preferred Target – Report

Newcastle are plotting a summer swoop for long-term target Scott McTominay according to an exclusive from Luke Edwards in The Telegraph.

Edwards has revealed that Eddie Howe, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and head of recruitment Steve Nickson all believe the 26-year-old would be a perfect fit in Howe’s midfield.

McTominay has been scouted extensively over the past 12 months. Newcastle reportedly were rebuffed in their attempts to add the defensive midfielder in each of the last two windows.

However, the trio is banking on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag being more amenable to a sale this summer. While McTominay has made 32 appearances this season, he has found starts very difficult to come by.

Ten Hag could sanction a sale to increase his summer budget. The midfielder would command a decent fee as he will have two years plus a club option left on his contract. McTominay is reportedly open to moving to St. James’ Park.

Edwards also confirms that Leicester City’s James Maddison remains a wanted man at Newcastle. However, he is reporting that the England international may want to join a club already established as a Premier League title contender.

I’m mostly out for an hour and half to 2 hours so plenty time for podcasts and still enjoy my favourite music whilst walking around village and surrounding areas taking in scenery and fresh air – feeling spoilt 🙂

Politics and papers have become more polarised in recent years

As i mentioned Craig Hope (amongst many amateur vloggers)
is doing some decent stuff on YT if you’re looking for 10 mins or so diversion

That is true… One thing though, players such as Bruno and Botman was recommended to the board by a hired transfer advisor, and both have been foreign super buys. This new tactic of mainly going for players in the EPL (If true) are new.

McTominay would be a terrible buy no matter how you look at it. You take Man Utd’s deadwood off their hands, and pay to do so, while locking ourselves out of much better deals abroad. It certainly doesn’t scream like a team being build for the very top if that is the level we go for.

Mctominay, please no. I don’t want a man united player at Newcastle.

He’s 26 years old, about the same as Longstaff ability wise and overall a not upgrade on what we already have.

Would be really disappointed if we signed him. not going to lie.

We should be looking abroad at foreign players as premier league clubs will take the piss when it comes to transfer fees.

Teams abroad will be more willing to deal with us as they don’t have the funds premier league clubs have

Players like Ibrahim Sangaré could be bought for 35million from PSV

In England for the same player you would be paying 80m, just cause he plays in premier league and its Newcastle.

There is still hope that this is Luke Edwards knowing nothing at all, or him being fed info by Mctoms agent to put his boy in the transfer window.

There’s literally hundred’s of players who would be an improvement on Longstaff and Willock.

Both of them are brilliant options to have on the bench as squad players but they just aren’t quite next level players we need for champions league football.

a list of players who would be massive improvement’s to our midfield:

Mikel Merino. (ex Newcastle player who has massively improved over the years and played with Isak at sociadad) 45m

Ibrahim Sangaré. Brilliant player who would be a direct upgrade to most of our midfield at a decent 35m fee.

Sergej Milinkovi?-Savi?. Would cost around 70 million but would be a huge upgrade on our midfield.

James Maddison. The only player from the premier league I would take IMO. an excellent player and would slot into this team perfectly and be a huge upgrade on what we already have. he’s an England international and has good relationship with our other internationals like Wilson and trippier. 50-60m would seal the deal.

Emmanuel Kouadio Koné. Very good midfielder already and at 21 years old will only improve over time already at Longstaff/Willock level but will improve. could be bought for around 25-30 million.

I think McTominay will be priced out of a move to us. Man Utd will demand a ridiculous fee, as they did with Lingard and Henderson, effectively killing any possible deal.

If we win our next game against Man Utd and Liverpool lose against city, I think we “only” need 5 more wins out of the last 11.

Since spurs would need to win 6 out of their remaining 10 and Liverpool would need to win 8 out of their remaining 11.

Evening all. cleveleysbob @70 previous bus, 777 Partners state they’re long term investors. I don’t think they would sell off assets unless they stood to make a large return or if they realise they’ve made a mistake and want to unload. They’re a big fund ($6 billion) so should know what they’ve doing but are destroying the British Basketball League IMO.

I hope the club refute this claim, as I don’t want West Ham to pay more money than they have to to get McTominay. Principally, so that MU are not gaining from their player being linked with us.

McTominay would be a very solid addition to what we have. It’s only Casemiro keeping him out if their starting lineup, and Casaniro’s arguably been the best in the league this year. I’d be over the moon with a midfield group of Bruno, Joel, Longstaff, Willock, McTominay and Maddison next term. That’s a proven EPL collection of quality midfielders right there.

We have both played 26 matches:
    Newcastle 47
    Liverpool 42
If they won all their remaining matches (12) they would be on 78 points.
There nufc would require 10 wins and a draw.

So, if in the next match we win and they lose. We will then require 8 wins and a draw.

Oh yah, the Southampton game is at home, that only makes it even more likely. With the way Spurs and Liverpool are doing, I cant see them win that many of their remaining games… Nothing is for certain, but I think we have a very good chance.
