I did wonder why the queue plummeted after 20mins. People obviously knew more than I did about the amount of tickets available.

Comment #51Well sure, the King of England got nothing to fear from a physical point of view, the problem is the symbol.
What’s even worse, Macron want to meet him in Versailles wich is really the most stupid idea possible in the current french context.

Comment #60come on Loch….that is all just conspiracy theory 😉
Hopefully also not too many more players keep getting ill from compromised immune and other systems coming from some reason…but they that is just conspiracy too…until it isn’t as we are finding out as each week passes but some people just like to double down instead of admitting perhaps they were wrong.
Finally a few football matches going on. 🙂

Might just be me but a new Stamford bridge seems like a money pit really – what capacity can they get – 60K? Aren’t there tons of technical challenges to rebuilding there? I am not saying those challenges are insurmountable but I bet they are significantly more expensive than anticipated.
I think Boehly is an ever increasingly amusing character to watch in the PL. Literally anything could happen with him in charge.

Comment #63I don’t get the obsession with fans demanding players are only picked for England if they’re playing regularly for their club. Surely an international manager just picks the best team? Just because Phillips hasn’t had many games for Man City this season (he’s been injured for a while), doesn’t mean that he’s suddenly a worse player than Longstaff (for example). Just because Maguire hasn’t been playing often for Man Utd, doesn’t mean he can’t do it for England, with a different formation and style of play, either.
Good players rarely become poor players before their time unless there’s a serious mental or physical reason for it. The likes of Maguire, Phillips, and Pickford have been fantastic for England.
I don’t care about which club they play for when they’re playing for England to be honest.

Southgate does not do what he says though at least not consistently. One day he says “I pick players on club form” another day he says “I spoke to other international managers and they say you should always pick your best players”
I agree Phillips hasn’t really done anything wrong in an England shirt but it is just the same old names again and again and again. Where is the hope for players on the fringes of the squad?
Do we need 2 DMs starting? That would be another question I have.
Just my opinion but Southgate ran out of ideas quite some time ago.

Comment #73AGM – sometimes experience counts for more than that. Some players come back from a long injury absence and they’re fantastic from the first game anyway, others take time to be eased in. I’m not sure where these rules like “being match fit” came from.

Mar 23, 2023 at 7:18 PM
Comment #74Taco – Southgate never said that he picks players only based on club form, he said he takes that into consideration. It would be silly for him to drop good performers in an England shirt just because they haven’t been doing it for their club recently. That would be like dropping one of your performing players at your club just because they train badly. There have been lots of players who don’t train well but turn up on match day.

Based on a quick check I just did I understand there are Tube lines as well as other local railway lines, an underground river and an adjacent cemetery.
I was always under the impression that developing Stamford Bridge was highly complicated, given it not having already been done.
Now it sounds like SJP is easy to get to 60k+ in comparison.

Comment #78The reason Southgate picks the same team is because the players have saved him from his lack of creative tactical plans.
A decent manager would have the group of players England have to choose from winning trophies.
Phillips has hardly played 5 minutes all season.

Comment #79TDS, I have to agree to disagree.
It is fine to say “so and so didn’t let us down” but we dont have a point of comparison really do we because others simply don’t play, irrespective of what they do for their club (the training argument is irrelevant to me)

Comment #80SitC @47 – I managed to get 2 separate seats in the Leazes West Stand – there was something wrong with Level 7 as normally a lot of this is for juniors with an adult but as you say it would only allow 13 – 17 year olds. It will be interesting to see at the game if only 13 – 17 year olds occupy that whole section!!
