Newcastle continue to be linked with pending free agent Marcus Thuram. A recent report claimed The Magpies were in pole position to sign the versatile Frenchman, who could make a decision on his next destination soon.
Thuram is not the only pending free agent Newcastle are tracking if a new report from The Mail is to be believed. Former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also on the radar with his contract at Liverpool set to expire at the end of June.
While Newcastle did add Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood during the new regime’s first transfer window, their recent window have generally players with youth on their side targeted. Nick Pope is an exception but 30 is still young for a goalkeeper.
As Oxlade-Chamberlain approaches that transformational age, he has struggled to have much of an impact in recent seasons. Injuries have limited his availability with a hamstring problem delaying his start to this campaign until October.
This term the attacker has just 12 appearances with Liverpool making no attempt to keep him on board. There will be some interest in a player of his stature, experience, and versatility. It seems a strange link for Newcastle which may not have much in it.

Comment #1Not a chance, I’d have taken him in our relegation struggle but not now, not sure how solid the links were before but he wasn’t interested then, he can get tay…. now 😀

Comment #2More lazy journalism from the Mail. There is no way Oxlaide-Chamberlain will be playing for us next season. He is yesterday’s man. I think he will end up at Forest or one of the promoted sides. If he is lucky.

Where are the England fans today, offering support for their/our country.

Comment #4Højlund again scoring for the Danish national team. Its only halftime, but he has 2 goals so far to add to the hattrick last game… I hope our transfer for him pulls off. He seems like the real deal.

Comment #10No thanks on Oxlade-Chamberlain, we’ll target a younger player who fits in with EH requirements and his teams style of play. Nothing to see here.
Glad for Joselu, his call up and goals for the national team. Although not the most gifted player nor prolific, I wanted to see him stay at SJP and would rather we got rid of DG instead.

Comment #12Its a funny owld pint the Guinness.
Been to Dublin and frequented the Guinness museum. Recommendation’s said it was the best pint in the world.
It was another decent pint of Guinness.
Now and then you get a worldy from somewhere, smooth and creamy and nice a chilled. In the most random of places. Its the way its kept so folk say. And needs to be turned over.
Addictive stuff when its spot on.

Comment #14Commiserations to the apple munching scoundrels from next door who will now be plying their trade in Allianz Division 2 next season. Tyrone just showing their inevitable class with a hard fought victory today.
Special shout out to our very own Magicmac54 who will be feeling rather sore right about now. It can’t be easy living in the shadows of your much more successful, talented and more handsome neighbours, but Tyrone, as always, will take our victory with humility and grace. Enjoy Division 2 next season Magicmac54 😉

‘Fraid I’m a lightweight when it comes to the drink these days. The advent of Cvd really affected my drinking habits and I haven’t been to the pub for ages. Furthermore, I can’t take the quantities I could back in the day so it’s probably safer to have a drink in the relative safety of home – if I’m gonna pass out pi$$ed, there’s less likelihood of damage there.

You and me both fella and I’m still a relative nipper being in my early 30s. Used to pack it away something shocking in my younger years. Now I prefer to have a glass of wine or two or to sample my own home-brewed beer and cider as opposed to go on a mad bender. Let’s just say we’re becoming more refined rather than becoming lightweights eh? 😆

I’ll confess to proactively choosing not to indulge Wraith or any platform he’s on because I don’t like the bloke so I wouldn’t know if they’ve been close or not. A discussion on whether we’re in the frame for Kane or not is interesting and gets conversation going but ultimately it’s bollocks haha

Comment #31Sounds like the OXs agent trying to wrangle a decent move his Geordie wife wanting to move back home….
That would be the type of signing an Everton or a Bruce run club would look to sign NO THANKS
However if Firmino fancied a free transfer move in the summer proper experienced quality player and still puts in the effort

On a more serious and somber note, fair play and well played today in the big game, the defeat against Tyrone is a very hard pill to swallow at the best of times but the fact it cost us our Division one status is a real double whammy so we shall just have lick our wounds and get back on the horse. Yes life can be a bitch sometimes for sure. Up Ard Macha. 😀 😀
