Newcastle In Unlikely Link With Former England Attacker

Newcastle continue to be linked with pending free agent Marcus Thuram. A recent report claimed The Magpies were in pole position to sign the versatile Frenchman, who could make a decision on his next destination soon.

Thuram is not the only pending free agent Newcastle are tracking if a new report from The Mail is to be believed. Former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also on the radar with his contract at Liverpool set to expire at the end of June.

While Newcastle did add Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood during the new regime’s first transfer window, their recent window have generally players with youth on their side targeted. Nick Pope is an exception but 30 is still young for a goalkeeper.

As Oxlade-Chamberlain approaches that transformational age, he has struggled to have much of an impact in recent seasons. Injuries have limited his availability with a hamstring problem delaying his start to this campaign until October.

This term the attacker has just 12 appearances with Liverpool making no attempt to keep him on board. There will be some interest in a player of his stature, experience, and versatility. It seems a strange link for Newcastle which may not have much in it.

Time to give a few players a rest and get some on who want to impress, Toney for Kane for starters, he could do with a rest and he has his record.

Must be difficult for England players going full tilt now. They will ‘just’ want to manage the game out as they will be thinking of next weeks game and being ready for the season-end run-in.
On another note, Stones defending has improved great this season – hope that doesn’t jinx him!

Jail – I think I have mentioned, I used to teach Jill and what you see on the TV is what she is genuinely like. A person with a nice character and the right values/behaviours. Really glad to seeing her do so well 🙂

After the u18s disappointment yesterday, losing 7-2 to Sunderland, it’s nice to see the Women’s development team pick up a trophy: https://twitter.com/nufcwomen/status/1639969982145523715?s=61&t=oE9r0YZuqCwo-geMmhvYtQ

My opinion is that it’s a bit selfish/reckless not to make four or five subs when the game is so clearly done.

I’d agree with that Raj, there is no good reason not to make several changes, Ukraine aren’t going to get back into this.

Why not give Chillwell a rest as well, I mean it’s good for us but not fair on Cheksea, wouldn’t be happy if that was Trips.

Interesting article about us and top 4 prospects. The average no. of points needed to secure top 4 over past decade or so is around 68-69 points. We are on 47 points. If we replicate the results (we got against them earlier in season) against the 12 teams we still have to face for the rest of the season, we would get 26 points. This would take us to 73 points. It’s very much in our hands.

I was very impressed with Maddison, even go as far as MOM for me. Good vision and workrate, and a good sense of humour. He’d fit in well at the TOON.
    Gallagher looks good too.

    Magic

I’d love nowt better than to join you and your pal, that red hand scondrel visit Newcastle. I’m sure that the pair of ya along with others you’ve formed a bond with would provide for a fun-filled session. However, it’s the getting to Newcastle’s the problem for me as it ain’t that easy these days. No matter, one day for sure.

In the meantime, take care and keep smiling.

I’m not sure what people expect? International football is different from the Premiership as it’s not played at a 1000mph from start to end. We won 2 – 0 quite comfortably – 6 points from arguably 2 of the most tricky games in the group – job done – what are people whinging about?

“seriously lacking in match fitness which is perfectly understandable.”

they still play club football but the quality isn’t very good, league leaders Shakhtar Donetsk who had some players playing today were recently beaten 7-1 by Feyenoord in the Europa league.

Good solid win put to bed by half time with Saka’s super strike.
The two dangerous teams in the group brushed aside.
I can’t remember a shot on goal from Ukraine.Top performance by a top team with a top manager.
Onwards and upwards the three lions.
