Winger Ready To Return Against The Red Devils – Report

Eddie Howe will have Anthony Gordon available for Sunday’s match against Manchester United according to Luke Edwards with The Telegraph. The winger will make his return after being sidelined for the previous two fixtures with an ankle injury.

Gordon made his full Newcastle debut in the defeat at Manchester City. During that match, he injured his ankle forcing him to miss the two recent 2-1 wins. He’ll now come back into the fold on Sunday.

The 22-year-old’s return is timely with Miguel Almiron out of action for most of April, a month of seven fixtures for The Magpies. Eddie Howe started Jacob Murphy on the right for the two victories.

It’s likely Murphy retains his place against the Red Devils, though Gordon is an option on both flanks. Left wing is an area of intrigue this week after Elliot Anderson’s star turn at the City Ground.

Allan Saint-Maximin was withdrawn at halftime against Forest paving the way for Anderson’s outstanding display. Saint-Maximin has likely recovered from his minor muscle issue with the possibility he keeps his place this weekend.

The jury is out on the availability of Sven Botman. The defender was forced to withdraw from the Dutch camp with an illness. Edwards believes it’s touch and go for Sven against Man United. It apparently was a case of food poisoning that delayed his debut for the Netherlands.

As much as I am thankful for ASM for lighting up games under Bruce its difficult to see how he is a starter going forward

I mean if we ended up getting Thuram on a free and Pedro both of which can play all of the front 3 positions and suit our style much more then he really would be struggling for regular game time!

    CF,
Nobody stands up at home games, it would be plain rude.

I reckon you’ve nailed it on Maxi, there.
It’s the reason we got him cheap. You woulda expected him to develop by now, but with no coaching and being indulged by a non-coach has has trashed his development at a crucial point in his career. Now he’s stuck!

Well they do, in a polite way. Some stands in front of you, you stand, then sit. At the back, whatever. Designated sitting areas might be better. Then expand how many standing, 1-1.5, say?
    Less problem in the future.

    CF,
They don’t, they stand when an attacking surge happens but sit back down when it calms down, a polite sit down mate for anyone that forgets.

I’m not sure why people let their sentiment get in the way of the team, I was a big fan of Mike Williamson but would I foo# want a 25 year version signed now. Look at EGB with AC, it sounds like, given the choice he’d personally risk a relegation to have resigned him over Wood.

As fantastic as EH has been it is rather concerning that he seemingly wants so many older English / Brit sick notes like Tierney, Ox, McTominay, Philipps etc.

Apparently or more importantly allegedly, Nixon and Ashworth specifically want Ugarte and Alvarez while EH wants the aforementioned Philipps and McTominay. I know who I’d prefer!!

Botman, Bruno and Isaak had no PL experience whatsoever and look where they are now. I hope Ashhworth pulls rank on this one.

I’m not really a fan of ASM, just don’t understand why do ASM get more sticks than the other players who played worst or made big error. It’s the same treatment Almiron was getting past seasons. I used to defend Almiron too, when some posters was singing ASM was god and Almiron was sheit. All I can see is a learning ASM who is trying to fit into Howe’s system but let down by his injuries. Lascelles would have been slaughter for days if he made Botman’s errors.

    Ty21,
I don’t think it’s about his errors, it’s about the fact that we win less with him in the team.
