Newcastle Against Arsenal – Team Prediction And Injury Update

Newcastle take on Arsenal at St. James’ Park on Sunday evening. The match holds significance in the title race as well as the battle for the Champions League. Newcastle are in excellent shape for the latter sitting third in the league table with the added bonus of the third-best goal difference in the division.

The Magpies have put the slip-up at Villa Park firmly in the rearview mirror. The winning streak sits at three matches in which the opponents have been outscored 13-3. There is no room to rest on these laurels as the Gunners must win for any hope of their first Premier League title in two decades.

Eddie Howe again paired Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson to inject some needed life for the second half against The Saints last weekend. Again the experiment came off with great effect as Wilson transformed the proceedings with his second-half introduction.

Maybe Howe will start with the blistering pair from the start against Arsenal tomorrow. I am predicting he will with Isak on the left in the following team that has just one change from the Southampton win with Gordon making way.

Allan Saint-Maximin appears to be ready for a cameo. The Frenchman should be available at least from the bench as he’s trained well this week. Sean Longstaff is more of a doubt with his foot injury.

Newcastle Injuries

Emil Krafth (knee), Jamaal Lascelles (calf), Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring – fitness test), Sean Longstaff (foot – fitness test)

Arsenal Injuries

Takahiro Tomiyasu (knee), William Saliba (back), Mohamed Elneny (knee), Gabriel Magalhaes (ankle – fitness test)

This is one massive fixture in May in which Newcastle are fighting for Europe. It’s been over a decade since such a scenario has been in place. Tomorrow night all eyes will be on the clash at St. James’ Park.

Appatently the wooden Coronation throne from the 1300’s was hand built by one William of Durham .

I wonder if Wor’ Bill does TV units , I could do with a new one.

Definitely wouldn’t be starting Isak and Cal…
Cal had more to prove as sub and delivers better…that cannot be lost on Eddie.
Complacency is the last thing we need.

I think we have found the way to get the best from CW. Play him for 45 mins or less each time

Let’s keep him angry, and thinking he has a point to prove.
I think he has a goalscoring side bet with his podcast buddy Antonio..

    Totally that mate.

He’s nailed his stance by his reaction.
Any or every great ‘team’ cannot afford the tyranny of one player.
Fight for minutes, contribute, be grateful, success… this is the ‘Eddie’ way!

Haaland gets huge hype and rightly so..
    But..
He doesn’t half get a stack of chances every single game. He gets loads of goals but so he should!!

I have said all along it makes no sense to play Wilson and Isak together from the start. It is too risky and what we are doing so far is working so no need to change it. Start 1 one of them and only have them both on at the same time if we are chasing the game, and for me it has to be Isak who starts.

If there’s anything missing at the moment (and there isn’t really)..we need to start scoring more goals from midfield.

Another reason to dislike Leeds came when that clip emerged of their players slinking past fans, including the little kid with the sign, without acknowledging them let alone do a few autographs etc

    Tbf, we’re spreading them around.
    Jo’s done well.
Bruno and Sean maybe should have a couple more.
    Miggy’s return is great.
    Murphy’s grabbed some.
    Joe should have more.
    Maxi, well!
    AG is new!
Like EA to get one before season’s end.

Yeah CB goals have been a slight let down Botman has been unlucky a few times and Schar only ever scores 30 yard screamers.

The thing is we need more variation than Tripps on all corners and almost all free kicks.

Yet another reason why Szoboszlai would be the perfect signing for us. Creativity and goals from midfield and he is deadly from set pieces too.
