Here is Eddie Howe’s press conference for our third last game of the season, at home to high-flying Brighton – a tremendously well run club on the south coast.
New Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi (former manager of Benvento, Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk amongst others) joined the Seasiders in late September replacing Graham Potter, who joined Chelsea.
The 43 year-old has done an outstanding job and has Brighton in 6th place after they demolished Arsenal 3-0 away last weekend, in what was one of the best performances we have seen from Brighton
So we know this is a tough game, but we need 2 wins in our final 3 games to finish in the top four for the first time since Sir Bobby Robson was manager.
Hopefully this can be one of the wins, but our lads need to be near their very best to get all 3 points tomorrow night in front of another sold-out St. James’ Park crowd.
Here is how the league stands at the moment.
Club | Matches | Goal Diff. | Points | |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Man City | 38 | 61 | 89 |
2 | Arsenal | 38 | 45 | 84 |
3 | Man United | 38 | 15 | 75 |
4 | Newcastle | 38 | 35 | 71 |
5 | Liverpool | 38 | 28 | 67 |
6 | Brighton | 38 | 19 | 62 |
7 | Aston Villa | 38 | 5 | 61 |
8 | Tottenham | 38 | 7 | 60 |
9 | Brentford | 38 | 12 | 59 |
10 | Fulham | 38 | 2 | 52 |

Personal Note:
I started my chemo treatment at the end of March and today is my 3rd chemo infusion as a final treatment for my stage 4 prostate cancer.
The plan is to have 10 treatments, one every 3 weeks through the end of October, and see if some of the prostate cancer cells in the bones can be killed off and the spread of the cancer slowed down.
We will see come October, but so far so good.
And I learned yesterday, via an endoscopy, that my esophagus that was badly damaged by my failed radium 223 treatment is healing nicely.
Many thanks for all your support on this through the years.
Ed Harrison.

Comment #14Brighton game is important of course but we just have to try keep everybody going
Bit worried that Longstaff and Murphy are not going to be available for the next few games but its time for Anderson, Gordon, ASM etc to step up when they get a chance

Please do not take this in the wrong way, I do not want to be misunderstood.
What has a spat between Bard and EGB (since sorted out) got to to do with you?
So to make myself clear please disappear up your own black hole, oh and take the seagulls with you.

Comment #19I have scoured the internet to find out TFG obsession about tampons.
Found it, there are no supplies left in Sunderland as all the gulls walked into the shops, stole (obviously) said tampons and are using them as a preemptive protection.

Ignore the troll and don’t feed the freak, it’s just some lowlife waster jobless tramp that comes on here to troll as it’s got nothing better to do in it’s sad pathetic twisted life. Don’t lower yourself and engage with it as Karma will certainly catch up with it soon enough…

From previous thread, I appreciate that the crowd must stay patient tomorrow evening against Brighton. What NUFC would need is a really early goal to get the crowd even more vocal and bouncing, however if that early goal doesn’t come, then patience will be needed.
The lads will go all out for an early goal and fast start, it’s what Eddie will be getting into them and how to do it. Personally I think we will see an early goal from us. We shall see

Comment #29The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one
He’s not the kinda pug
Who gives up just like that
Oh no
It’s the things he does that we should all worry about
It’s the only thing he knows to do
He’s not the kinda pug who gives up just like that
Oh no
The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one
The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one
Butt sniffing one (The only one)
Butt sniffing one (The only one)
Every Rabbit girl wants a bigger dog
But pug’ll wait right there ’til it’s his turn
He’s not the kinda pug who gives up just like that
Oh no
The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one (the pug is high)
The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one
Butt sniffing one (the only one)
Butt sniffing one
Every time he gets that feeling
That need to go and stick his nose in
Every time that pug comes near
Your bum will feel nothing but fear
But there’s nothing you can do when butt sniffer is here
The pug will make it happen somehow
And you know he can take the pressure
A moment’s pain for a lifetime’s pleasure
Every mackem wants a pug up their backside
And they’ll wait right here ’til it’s their turn
He’s not the kinda pug who gives up just like that
Oh no (not gonna let go)
The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one
The pug is high, but he’s holding on
He’s gotta be the butt sniffing one

Had a wife but couldn’t keep her;
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well.
Peter, Peter pumpkin eater,
Had another and didn’t love her;
Peter learned to read and spell,
And then he sniffed her very well.

Comment #39If I could ever be able to choose a manager for myself…in life, in sports, in character etc…whatever….Eddie would be the one…just saying. I think he understands them all and how they all intertwine with each other. So proud that we have him. If that is the identity of your club then no player or group of players should ever find it at odds themselves. I hope our fan base remembers this in good times and bad as that is something that is very hard to come across and have in your possession and an udder waste to ever ever let go of.

Comment #40Interesting to here some of Eddies comment’s when asked if he will do doing anything differently:
“I think one of the things that I have always used in times of….its not really pressure for me because I always feel I am under that pressure…but maybe for the players is to make things very simple and clear and to not over overcomplicate things.
I think that is important in this moment as we go into the final three games that you don’t radically try something different because I think that can be a big mistake and you don’t overreact to certain minor things that in that moment can seem a major thing, so it is to be very calm and stick to my real belief and confidence in the squad”
He definitely reads this blog and is subtlety sticking two fingers up to the people banging on about changing formation and/or drastically changing the starting 11.
🙂
