Shay Given is one of Newcastle’s best ever goalkeepers, and he made a total of 462 appearances for Newcastle and 134 appearances for the Republic of Ireland.
And Shay has kept in tough with his former club and like many former players is a stauch supporter of the club.
Eddie Howe has often said he wants the former great players to keep in touch with the club, and he recently welcomed Shay back as he worked with Newcastle’s other goalkeepers in a goalkeeping master class.
You can feel to camaraderie at Benton as Shay gets to work.
And of course they make goalkeepers bigger and taller these days, with Shay at 6ft 1ins and Nick Pope at 6ft 7ins – must be those hamburgers with all the protein in them.
This is a very entertaining video and we hope you enjoy it.

Comment #201We need a point. If we lost last two games by a goal the goal difference would be 5. Dippers will get 5 at Soton even if the ref has has to play two days extra time

Comment #202One more point will do it for top 4 and ECL, 3 more to guarantee 3rd. What a season, let’s finish it off on Monday in our final home match. Whatever the result, the players, the coaches, EH deserve immense huge appreciation for their efforts and commitment to the nufc cause.

Comment #204Jimiley, they had almost two days of extra time today. Incredible.
Have to say, totally disappointing second half from Villa. Appreciate that they held on, but what the fck was that strategy?
In any event, I can feel our transfer budget ticking higher today!

Comment #205We are there. Anyone that thinks we can’t get a point out the next two games is just wrong. EH will ensure players are focused and Monday will ultimately be party time with a week to spare.

Comment #206I would have preferred the win so Eddie could play the juniors and gift Leicester the win.
Guess who I want to go down?
But it feels right to go for the win and 3rd in front of home fans. Is there a qual round for 4th but not for 3rd?

Yep agents are calling Ashworth as we speak. Sponsorship deals are being finalised by Eales too.

Great result Lppol drawing but those saying it’s almost impossible to overturn the goal difference are wide of the mark.
Very unlikely…
But if we lose by 1 goal to Leicester and 2 to Chelsea and Lpool beat Southampton by 5 (possible) they overtake us.
We need to blow Leicester away on Monday and start the party.

The fourth go directly to the stage group.
@investinyouthtoon

Comment #212Jimily there is no qualification round regardless of 3rd or 4th. But 3rd still better cos £2M extra cash from the PL prize money + simply being 3rd is better obviously.

Got to go all in for the win
Play safe for a draw and you lose. Foxes can score but cannot defend

Just £2M and the prestige of being 3rd.

Comment #217niafron I believe a win and we’d be 3 points ahead of manure with a GD if more than 25 better than theirs.

Comment #218Bills Son, you are correct. There’s no telling what Liverpool could do to Southampton if we slip up against Leicester and they see an opening.
One good thing is that Chelsea don’t score many goals.

To be 3rd we simply need to match Man U’s results (but get a point to take Lpool out of the equation)

Comment #225In other news it looks Spurs are playing for conf league or no Europe at all now. Not mathematically yet but looks pretty certain given remaining fixtures.
😀
I always said there won’t be a “big 7” and Spurs will be the team we will replace in the “big six”. It is happening faster than I anticipated.

Comment #227I will pose this question again:
To what extent is it beneficial for Maddison to play well against us? It is a tricky question when you think about it…..
