Callum Wilson has been in magnificent since early April, scoring 11 goals and in 29 PL appearances this season, he has taken his goal tally up to 18 with 5 assists.
Callum had a difficult time after the World Cup but has come roaring back to form at the right time.
And with his contract running out next June, we would expect the 31 year-old will get a contract extension for at least a couple of years this summer.
It was a great 4-1 win over Brighton last Thursday night, and it was good to see the Seasiders beat the Saints, and they will be in European competition for the first time ever next season.
The Brighton fans deserve that.
Going into the important game against Lecsisyer tomorrow night we need only a draw to guarantee Champions League football.
And while this may look like an almost certain win, nothing is ever easy in the Premier League, and we expect Eddie Howe to demand two good performances and two win in our last two games.
In our final game a week today we are at Chelsea and could win that game too.
Here is the current PL table after today’s games.
Club | Matches | Goal Diff. | Points | |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Man City | 38 | 61 | 89 |
2 | Arsenal | 38 | 45 | 84 |
3 | Man United | 38 | 15 | 75 |
4 | Newcastle | 38 | 35 | 71 |
5 | Liverpool | 38 | 28 | 67 |
6 | Brighton | 38 | 19 | 62 |
7 | Aston Villa | 38 | 5 | 61 |
8 | Tottenham | 38 | 7 | 60 |
9 | Brentford | 38 | 12 | 59 |
10 | Fulham | 38 | 2 | 52 |

Very true. They have some high quality players but also a lot of players with no real interest in how this season will end. It may sound harsh and it’s not something I’d usually say, but watching them recently they have had so little fight in them.
A little bit of tension in a game is good but for this one I’m quite happy it going like the Spurs game in the first 20 if the lads want to repeat that.

Comment #162If Leicester lose I agree, there is no animosity between the clubs and we won’t have mathematically relegated them anyway so why bother celebrating their possible demise? We should just focus on us on our success.
Of course if it were Everton we were playing in the same position I would not be saying this.

Comment #163A draw would definitely suit Leicester tonight and I’d bet that that is what they will play for, so expect a fleet of buses on the pitch, that of course could go horribly wrong for them but they really do not want to concede a shedload of goals.
They have a better GD than Everton so a win Sunday for them and an Everton loss and they would swap places.
I don’t expect any other than a win for us tonight but I do expect Leicester to at least have a go.

Comment #164Graeme…Long time! How are you? I think we’ll win, but as pointed out by TTT, they certainly do have something to play for. I just don’t expect them to play for it, as so far, they’ve looked well off the pace. Never say never though…

Mistake or not, the idea is they will not have the choice… i expect us to really press them hard in the first 20 minutes and this is probably what they expect too.

Comment #168There will be a carnival atmosphere inside the ground tonight, I think there will be less of that tentative feeling in the crowd from many as there was against Arsenal and Brighton when supporters will go quiet when a certain fear kicks inā¦
There wonāt be any fear tonight and the lads will come steaming out the blocks as they did against Brighton. If we get a goal or 2 in the first 20-30 minutes, it could end up a big score as the carnival atmosphere will really kick in and the lads that enter the field will feed off it. Itās going to be a great spectacle this evening, and Leicester will be shell shocked by this, they do not have the necessary fight in them. Poor buggers just want the season done with so they can move to pastures new. (Thatās the main issue with Leicester, too many players know they are jumping ship, itās their fans and owners I feel most sorry for)

I have huge sympathy with the fans but less with the owners.
It’s all well and good having players play out their contracts but if that makes them unhappy and lack motivation, plus getting no re-sale value, then it’s madness.
They should have sold Tielmans a year or two ago when his stock was high and bought in another younger, hungrier player. Same with a few of the others too. It’s been really poorly managed the last few years, despite a couple of 5th placed finishes and this type of season was always inevitable, even if I didn’t expect such a big drop off.

Itās going to be a night of dreams tonight. We will sing our hearts out for the lads, showing our appreciation and adoration for such an amazing enthralling season. Haha no itās not greedy at all mate, it just makes a whole lot of sense getting a really early goal. I wouldnāt bet against it and when we do get one the floodgates will open. Itās just a matter of how many goals then as we know the new way we play we can slot goals away for fun and be very clinically brutal to the opposition. Itās what Eddie will be drilling into the lads mate.

I do understand what you are saying, however personally I think Leicester punched way above their weight because of what the owners brought the club, I thought they were very savvy in the transfer market, by bringing in some good players. They were and are a selling club which has affected them somewhat, theyāve made some bad signings of late in Soumare (that was a bullet dodged)ā¦
I think the club were never the same when the tragic event occurred that took the former Chairman (Vichai) life. The club didnāt recover from that and thatās the bit I feel sorry for the new chairman his son (Aiyawatt) who it must be agonising seeing what his father achieved as chairman with Leicester all start to unwind.
I agree thought TS, the set up is not right allowing so many players to rundown their contracts (Tielemans) etc. itās why a top 8 side on paper are going to be relegated. They have far too many players who are jumping ship and do not have the required fight. It will really show this evening.

Comment #185There seems to be a helluva lot of optimism for tonight and that’s understandable.
But, despite Leicester’s lowly position, they (according to the Beeb site) ‘have scored more goals than any other team in the bottom half of the table. The Foxes have some excellent attacking players but …….’
Being realistic, let’s not underestimate them – they could just spoil the party.

Comment #186Leicester, Leeds and Everton will be in a 1 x game shoot out on Sunday.
Only 3 points separate them, Everton have 33 but have an inferior GD (until tonight) š
They are all at home.
Leicester v WHam
Leeds v Spurs
Everton v Bournemouth
Hard to call, will WHam be thinking about their final? Will Spurs give a toss or try to rescue some pride?, will Bournemouth be at the beach?
On paper, Everton have the easiest game, but when has a PL game been played on paper?
The nerves will be jangling, 2 of those 3 have to go down, only one escapes. I should be writing the build up for Sky š

Very good points and my comment was probably a little blunt. The current owner will have gone through a lot since losing his father in that tragic accident and then will have been really preoccupied with the main business given the losses they took during the pandemic, so may have taken his eye off the ball with the club, even if he has others running the day to day stuff.
I think it shows what can happen with just a couple of years of below par, not even terrible, running of a club. Very few clubs are sheltered from 2 years of sub par decisions and can easily fall from grace.
It’s a great lesson for our owners as they have been fantastic so far but will see that consistency of thought and planning is key to sustain your level.

Comment #189It pains me to say it but it will be Everton that will survive out of Leeds, Leicester and Everton.
With Everton being at home in front of their snarling, spitting partisan crowd, it will help them over the line. Bournemouth are safe now and they wonāt have the same fight in them if they were still fighting relegation.
Out of all the clubs itās Everton Iād love to see her relegated as their fanbase would deserve it.

Comment #191Fenham, if itās down to fan base, youāre probably right, Leeds and Everton are going to be far more hostile than Leicester and their āclappersā. Plus as you say Everton have the easier task.

Comment #194There is absolutely no chance of a Leicester rolling up to SJP and turning us over.
I appreciate Leicester on paper have a top 8 team with some great attacking options. However, this is where it stops. Football is all about consistency, confidence, fight, determination, discipline and Leicester are lacking every one of those qualities. Whereas NUFC have them all in bucket loads. Add to it itās a last home game of an amazing season where the group of players, Eddie and his coaching staff will be going all out for a win by all costs.
Leicesters squad is bursting at the seams of players either out of contract or only have one year so they all know they are going in the summer anyway. I think they know whatās coming their way tonight and thereās not a cat in hells chance that they will derail NUFC this evening. NUFC Will be like a team possessed tonight, itās the Chelsea game Iām thinking could well be a draw.

Comment #197I think this game will be close-runā¦at least early. Theyāll have to weather the crowd and weāll have to weather them being up for the match. LCās defense is just flat-out bad, so if we can get an early goal and they start chasing the game, it could get ugly. I can see maybe 4-2 being the final score. Comment #198Charlie,
Bournemouth are a good decent team that have done really well to avoid relegation this season. They played well against us twice this season and we were lucky to get a draw at their place. However, they are safe from relegation and we know what the partisan Everton crowd will be like. A pack of snarling, spitting foaming at their mouths rabid dogs. Itās sometimes like a goal or even 2 head start.
Bournemouth wonāt relish playing in such conditions. Horrible lot Everton areā¦
