Bruno was a lucky lad not to get a red.

But when viewed at normal speed you can see there was not very much force and not really in danger of a serious injury. He went for ball, missed it, was clumsy. Slow mo replay made it look worse than it was. Yellow the correct decision. toon colored glasses or not.

Agree on the Bruno yellow but I must confess my heart sank when I saw who the ref was. Gave us very little all night.

Right, I’d better try and get some sleep. Fat chance with the adrenaline turned up to 10. Goodnight all, keep on dreaming. 🙂

ESPN’s soccer (football) site….Newcastle returning to the Champions League is the fourth story down the list of headlines. After Juve, Messi possibly returning to Barcelona, and the Vini racial abuse situation. Top story remains Man City clinching the title two days ago.

Also, since the bus moved so quickly earlier, just want to repeat….special thanks to Trippier, Bruno, Botman, and Isak. Most great players today insist that Champions League football is handed to them. These four were confident enough to come here and build a Champions League team themselves.

I agree that we need a bit more creativity to deal with the low block. But just think for a moment, Manchester City also have had difficulty scoring when encountering the same tactical approach by the opposition. So we’re not that far off and we’re learning how to play against it. Give the lads all the credit they deserve.
We should be totally relaxed against Chelsea and give them a walloping.

I said pre match that Leicester would park the bus and play for a draw so the result is no surprise to me.

Fair do’s to them for having a go towards the end but we should have been three goals up by then.

Our shooting was awful and back to the post Xmas levels.

And how many corners did we have with nowt from them/

Still a bloody good season and a well deserved CL spot, so no real complaints.

Was going to give my MoTM vote to Elliot Anderson, as I thought he played a very steady and poised match! But looks like his name not on the list of players. So I assumed that a vote for Joelinton, who did not play, was actually a vote for Elliot.

    EGB,
Agree, Anderson is gonna be a good one. Under Eddie and his coaching staff he should come on by leaps and bounds over next couple years.

So a loss or draw for Everton and a win for Leicester would put the blue scousers down, I’d be happy with tonight’s result if that happened.

Saw the team sheets on the bus on the way to the match and thought their team selection was decent, try and hold us for an hour or so then really go for it once they brought Maddison and Barnes on. A win tonight would have put their fate in their own hands due to superior goal difference so it was weird to see them time wasting and not throwing everything at us in that final half hour. Our fans were booing when they were time wasting but I was more than happy for them to do that to see the game through. Even if they had lost today they might still have stayed up so it was worth the risk for them to push for a winner in the second half. We seem to be missing lots of decent chances recently, hope we change that against Chelsea and finish the season in style.

What a night and we deserve top 4, this will hurt spurs and Liverpool spending.

We now probably do move on to another tier of players we can sign

    Szoboszlai
    Diaby
Fast overlapping left back (tierney injuries worrry me)
Fast strong right sided centre back

Few youngsters who will happy to make a squad

Absolutely buzzing to have qualified for CL. HWTFL!

Fair play to Leicester and the few who called in before KO. I didn’t think they’d be able to pull that off over 90 mins. A mix of a well worked low block from them and some misfiring from us. We could have won comfortably. A special mention to Pope. Outstanding and such a big moment. Fun and larks at Stamford Bridge then!

Right, another coffee and watching Eddie’s post match interview.

This campaign they have lost just five league matches, bringing Champions League football back to St James’ Park for the first time in 20 years.

    ‘Mummy mummy, what’s a DVD ?’
‘Dunno son, something from a long time ago, now eat your breakfast’

“We’ve beaten Juventus here 1-0 [in the Champions League], you see it on old DVDs,” added Longstaff. “To be a part of this, I’m buzzing. It’s going to be special.”

Callum had his back to goal because their back 5 denied him any gaps to be forward facing and to run onto balls. Guess that’s why Isak went up front with Max and Murphy as wingers to try and get round the back.

Wasn’t keen on ten players inside the 6yard box, way too congested. Eddie changed it later on but more variety on corners will be needed …in the Champions League !!

Huge respect for JoeLinton to say in the warm up that he didn’t feel fit enought to start. That’s a team mentality and he deserves recognition for that.

Strangely relieved and relaxed after last night. Put all the nightmares behind us.
Allardyce, Bruce, Sports Shite, Mashley, Arena , you name it. All gone in the bin, bye bye.

Let’s hope Leicester survive at Everton’s expense. Juventus have been docked 10points. How many are Everton being docked by the FA ?
