One Change – Sean Longstaff Starts Against Leicester Tonight – Plus High Fan Expectations

The big news is that there is only change from the Newcastle side that walloped Brighton 4-1 and that’s Sean Longstaff starting in place of the injured Joe Willock, out for the season with a hamstring injury.

It’s great to see Sean back.

We need only draw against Leicester City tonight at St. James’ Park to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since Sir Bobby Robson was the manager back in 2003.

And we are sure the lads will want to win the game, the last home game of the season, and then have a real celebration after the game.

But a caution – we cannot allow second bottom Leicester to spoil the party tonight after such a great season.

And here is the Leicester side.

A massive 86% think we can win this game tonight.

I really rate both Maddison and Barnes so happy they aren’t starting, but their absence probably will make Leicester harder to break down, and of course if they can weather the storm, then they can bring them on later and try and nick something, but I expect we’ll just be too good for them. 3-1

    Taco,

It’s unfortunate for Leicester, the King Power company hit quite hard due to the lack of tourism during the Covid bollox. Plans for squad investment gone all together and Rodgers came out and said sell to buy is the only way. It’s no surprise he left by mutual consent. Think they’re a bit knackered financially all told.

    Uncertain,
They are not in as bad a shape financially as some think. Of the teams that go could go down they are the most likely to come back IMO.

Irish, US coverage had a reporter on going over every contract situation for Man City and Arsenal. Potential transfers. Arteta saying Arsenal had to get it right in the market. Blah blah blah. It went on forever.

    Taco,

We’ll see how many jump ship as that’ll give rise to how bad a shape they are. It’s not really a case of their financial health, it’s the future investment has been pulled, the project no more.

At daughter’s to watch the game and took a little time to catch up. Delighted Longstaff is back but really puzzled by their team. If Maddison and Barnes are on the way out surely they don’t want relegation on their CV’s.

Wor Flags, just wow! See you after the game, HWTL!

When you see Leicester players look around at the crowd you know their heads aren’t in the game.

One thing if you’re the home team but you don’t look at it in awe when you’re the away team. That’s a bad sign for them imo.

As mentioned earlier, I predict a shock loss today.
Leicester will come at us hard as they will give it their all in their relegation fight.

The worst time to play relegation sides are at the end when they absolutely need wins for survival.

Our leaky defence will continue conceding.

    Newcastle 1 Leicester 3.
