Behind The Scenes Match-Cam Video For Newcastle’s 0-0 Draw With Leicester And Qualification For Champions League

Here is the Match-Cam video from last night’s 0-0 home draw with Leicester City, with the point qualifying Newcastle for the Champions League next season, for the first time since the 2003-2004 season under the incomparable Sir Bobby Robson.

In the Match-Cam we see the players arriving, warming up, then different video footage of the game from ground level, and these videos seem to be really popular.

There are clips at half-time with three male owners having a shootout challenge – if you can call it that.

🙂

And at the end there are new shots of the players and their families and Eddie How meeting the Chairman and getting a big hug from ….. Amanda Staveley.

During the game we did everything but score and win, but in the 92nd minute Nick Pope made an absolutely brilliant save, otherwise we could have even lost the game.

But we got the draw, and all of Tyneside is now celebrating an amazing and historic accomplishment for this season.

    Scythe,
If you watch that video it explains that as well, we used to press high and had a good defence, teams sussed it out so he came up with a new tactic which scored loads more goals, a ‘downside’ to it was we conceded the odd few more, it was actilually ToF who complained about it

I think any one of Joelinton, Trippier, Schar, Bruno, Willock, Sean, Nick Pope, Botman, Isak, Wilson, Burn and Almiron could justifiably be named player of the season. So many good players week in week out. Even Murph, Maxi, Anderson and the likes of Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett and Lascelles behind the scenes. Such a huge effort by the players. I’d give it to Joel though I think. I think he’s a really really special and influential player and character for us. Love Joelinton.

The addition of European football with the way we play will take its toll on our squad next season unless we can get a really good bunch of subs. With the amount of games these days you’ve almost got to have two squads available. Having a bit of luck with injuries (or a good medical team that know what they’re doing to prevent those injuries) helps as well, of course.

Isn’t it mental that we’re not only talking about being in the Champions League next season but also that Big Joe is a serious contender for player of the year? Football really is a funny old game. It never fails to surprise. 😀

Shocked at the EPL winners odds you mentioned. Keep in mind, that bookies’ odds are not their reflection of probability of an event happening, but rather an effort to balance their books of bets on contradicting outcomes.

    mondziu,
I heard it on the radio as PaddyPower must sponsor TalkSport, I’ve just looked, it’s deffo, 15/2 second favourites, however William Hill has us as 5th favourites at 16/1 and another site as joint third at 12/1, not sure how they work it out.

Surely those odds will change based on signings over the summer? I’m not a betting man and have zero interest in it, but if we improve our squad significantly we stand a better chance of a higher finish next season.

We still aren’t registering enough goals from corners/set pieces.
Seems like teams are desperate to not give Trippier a chance round the box from a fk.

I think early on the defense was a bit easier to fix than the combination or working out runs, offensive player combos, tactics etc. First goal was to solidify the defense, second was the press, third was the offensive attack…and yes once that offensive attack came so did a bit of openness defensively but the press and turnover rate kept the goal ratio down and allowed us go go forward a bit more. The defense stayed solid but I will a few more goals allowed with the entertaining football we started to play about 1/3 way in. The whole thing just naturally gelled as the season progressed and the players bought into what was asked of them as they saw progress at each step of the way.

Got a little teary-eyed at that Mandy video. Not gonna lie. Haven’t been following nearly as long as most of you, live in Raleigh, NC but picked up this beautiful team in college. Probably about 2009 or 10, but fell in love with it because of the fans passion. I’m originally from around Boston, Massachusetts where there are lot of hard working people and some of the most passionate fans in the world. That combo comparison is what made me fall in love. It’s the closest thing I can feel in a football team to the teams i support at home and feel like it actually eclipses that the passion is just so overwhelming. I really hope I get to go to st James one day. It’s gonna be really hard now to get a ticket haha but it’s my #1 dream vacation.

Good Captains are plentiful, a few are exceptional.
I’d add Trippier to my list, he’s the man.

Paul McGinley , Ryder Cup, Gleneagles, outhought the Americans

Wiilie John McBride, British Lions, one of the greatest team performances ever

David Sole, Rugby, Scotland – check out how he walked the team out at Murrayfield like Gladiators

Daresay a few others will get mentioned

It is interesting that people are speculating on why bookies do what they do..next season is unknown…this season hasn’t even finished and no one really knows what will happen in the summer.

The bookies are betting on people placing bets now. Irrespective of what happens in a years time – they win.

    This is the way.

    Lads, got a good joke…

Reports in France NUFC is curious about Neymar but he’s not fond about the idea to come in Newcastle cause he want to live in a bigger, more entertaining city… and to play for a more prestigious club.

0k, let’s be serious, it mean he’s desperate to find a new club ( including us, of course ) and we could have him for a bargain price.

Anyone want such a fallen angel?

The idea would be a free loan ( one year with a buying clause ) with maybe 50% of his wages to pay… so 15 millions a year.

Didn’t pay attention to this rumour previously, but seem now, PSG and the player really want the deal.

    What do you think?

    To put things in perspective:

The lad is injury prone, he’s 31, he’s a mockery of a Football player since the world cup, and tracking back, running, pressing is none of his concerns. And what a trouble maker.

Still… he’s top class… One lad like that in a generation.

So i wonder if EH can make some magic of his own with him.

Would say “Hell, no!” normally… but got a slight doubt.

Howe is one record as saying we do not want established superstars – he wants young players “before they explode” onto the world stage.
Plus he has said the finances are not available for expensive signings.

I do think though that even Howe did not think we would end up in a CL spot and therefore ahead of schedule. He will surely have to upgrade the squad a lot quicker than he probably planned. Therefore perhaps spend more money than originally thought.
I’m not well up on the FFP rules but could he not spend more if within 3 years.

Niafron – club will be making signing based on huge amount of data analysis and having the correct character.

Neymar would be as unlikely to sign as Ronaldo. Its just never ever happening.

Imagine all players signed will be under 26 an all. Its the way. Get players on the up not on the way down.

Neymar may go to United as they are useless in terms of recruitment

I think you’ve misunderstood my point or I didn’t make it very clear, I was asking why there was such a difference in odds between Paddy Power and the others, 15/2 vs 16 and 12/1. Who’s going to bet with PP if they fancy a cheeky tenner, unless they’re in cahoots with each other.
