Full Agreement Reached For Sandro Tonali Transfer To Newcastle – Medical Tomorrow

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that in the meeting this afternoon in Milan, Italy, full agreement was reached between Newcastle United (represented by Sporting Director Dan Ashworth and Head of Recruitment Steve Nixon) and AC Milan for the transfer of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle.

The fee has been agreed at around €70M with around €5M add-ons, and the structure of the deal has also been agreed to.

Tonali will get a long-term six-year contract worth €8M/year in wages.

If that’s accurate, that’s about £132K/week.

As time goes by and Newcastle’s revenues increase, we will need to pay higher wages to new players coming in and at the same time increase the wages of players already at the club like Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, who have been stars over the last 18 months.

Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso is on his way to Romania where Tonali is playing for the Italian U21 team tonight, and it’s expected the medical can be completed tomorrow or on Saturday at the latest

The papers are being readied for signature by all involved parties for tomorrow, when the deal will hopefully be completed successfully.

Here is the latest from Fabrizio Romano:

This is one terrific signing by Newcastle, assuming there are no hitches with the medical, and it’s being reported Tonali was Eddie Howe’s number one transfer target this summer.

It shows the sky-high ambitions of our new owners, and Tonali will have an important role to play as the defensive midfielder protecting the back four.

He can also launch attacks from the back and allow Bruno Guimaraes and others to move further up the field into more attacking positions.

This all sounds good great to us.

Did I say this is one terrific signing?

🙂
