VIDEO – Newcastle Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan Reviews A Momentous Season – Thanks Fans

Here is Newcastle’s non-executive Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan speaking on nufcTV being interviewed on what was a momentous season for us last season.

We reached a local Cup Final for the first time in over 20 years, and we finished 4th top of the Premier League.

That meant that we have qualified for the Champions League for the first time in exactly 20 years.

We now look forward to our second full season under our new owners, and heaven knows what we can achieve this season.

Howay The Lads!!

Comments very welcome.

Very good words from Yasir. Only a Wum could find reason to complain about nufc on its current trajectory.

As I said before the bus arrived loved it when he was asked if he expected NUFC to achieve what it has so far.

“Did we expect to do that? Yes!” – Ice cold serious in that moment too. These guys ain’t messing around.

    The cartel is bricking it.
The team we have in August would have given City a run for their money last season.
A player of Madders ability, a centre back and left back of real quality and we will have a proper 18.
Bring it on. Just loving it when we wipe the smile off Klippetys face

    Taco

I’m not sure that the chairman really did expect to be where we ended up. Not surprised yes, but I think that he’d admit that expecting CL qualification at the first time of asking would have been a big ask.

No matter, he came across as being genuinely chuffed to be part of NUFC – how many club Chairs would have their club crest on the lining of their suits?

In my defence I can only check on fleetingly as I think we walk in very similar shoes in life!

Yeah it was on an ESPN show that I watched recently and they were moaning about him saying it

Good player though wouldn’t mind getting him in the future

Probably true Lesh, but I would guess like many of us his expectations evolved as the season progressed.

I was happy with top 8 before a ball was kicked (and I expect the expectation from the board was similar to this) I would have been chuffed with Europa league qualification.

But ask me again in April/May and not making CL would have been a bit of a let down.

    DON’T ARGUE WITH “DONKEYS”

The donkey told the tiger, “The grass is blue.”

The tiger replied, “No, the grass is green.”

The discussion became heated, and the two decided to submit the issue to arbitration, so they approached the lion.

As they approached the lion on his throne, the donkey started screaming: ??Your Highness, isn’t it true that the grass is blue?”

The lion replied: “If you believe it is true, the grass is blue.”

The donkey rushed forward and continued: ??The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts me and annoys me. Please punish him.”

The king then declared: ??The tiger will be punished with 3 years of silence.”

The donkey jumped with joy and went on his way, content and repeating ??The grass is blue, the grass is blue…”

The tiger asked the lion, “Your Majesty, why have you punished me, after all, the grass is green?”

The lion replied, ??You’ve known and seen the grass is green.”

The tiger asked, ??So why do you punish me?”

The lion replied, “That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because it is degrading for a brave, intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with an ass, and on top of that, you came and bothered me with that question just to validate something you already knew was true!”

The biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn’t care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions.

Never waste time on discussions that make no sense. There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand.

Others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.

When ignorance screams, intelligence is silent. Your peace and quiet are worth more.

It’s amazing how expectations evolve (I’m the same)
I hope we collectively are sympathetic, just in case it doesn’t quite happen next season 🙂

    Agree NY Mag,
Things have to be put into perspective.

If we had ended up 7th or 8th, I am not the type of person to say “we bottled it” and start getting on EH’s or the players backs as I think that type of attitude is counterproductive.

    Next season my hopes are:
    1. To not finish bottom in whatever CL group we end up in so that we either qualify for the last 16 or go to Europa league for a couple more games at least.
    2. Try to qualify for CL again (and I think we have a good shot at it) but at least secure European footie again somehow.
    3. Controversial this one I know – but I have no specific hopes or expectations on progress in the domestic cups.

Just read the BBC article on wolves Neves signing for the Saudi league.

Fan comments in the main ‘Neves is newcastles next loan signing’…

Huge amount of distain towards NUFC from many rival fans. (bordering on hate).

    Oh well 😆

I have to say I will be disappointed if we don’t get Maddison
I think Leicester City could be shooting themselves in the foot.
If Maddison should decide to hold out they could find they are big losers!

    TAoF,
Just cos a bunch of internet clowns think we will get Neves on loan does not mean we will. They should spend their time crying over the things that we have actually done instead of predicting the future and whining about things that haven’t happened.

I bet we don’t do stuff like like, no reason to need to.

    Taco,

I have to be honest – I’m a little worried about all of this Saudi league business.

Essentially, we are a foreign investment for them, they’ve done the right thing, they are pumping money into something (epl) that is the most popular sport in the world (and btw, I’m eternally grateful for that)

But, I’m not of the same opinion as others that they will do it to benefit NUFC, it’s probably the other way round 🙂

They are after all the the sovereign fund of KSA, so they of course are going to look after the best interests of the KSA.
