News has just been posted on the Newcastle United website that we have finally signed 25-year-old left winger Harvey Barnes from Leicester City.
The fee has been reported to be £38M which could well turn out to be another bargain buy by Newcastle, although it seems higher than what Newcastle initially wanted to pay for the once-capped England International.
?? We are delighted to announce the signing of Harvey Barnes from Leicester City on a five-year deal.
Welcome to Newcastle United, @harveybarnes97! ????

This is what Harvey said after signing along the dotted line:
“I’m delighted. It’s an amazing club and for me it’s a massive opportunity to come and be involved in a successful team that’s doing exciting things”
“So I’m absolutely buzzing to be here.
“I think it’s an attacker’s dream to come into a team like this; it’s high paced, it’s physically demanding, but you can see the rewards of that with the chances and the goals scored.”
“So I think I’ll certainly suit the style.”
Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe, said the following:
“Harvey is an exciting talent who I have admired for a long time so I’m delighted to welcome him to Newcastle United.”
“He is strong, quick and very good technically, and he showed last season in particular that he has an eye for goal from wide positions.”
“He will add a different element to our play and we look forward to working with him as we prepare for the season ahead.”
We expect Harvey to be on his way to meet up with the Newcastle squad over the pond in Atlanta.
And Newcastle do have a game late tonight in Philadelphia against Aston Villa in the Premier League Summer Series – our first game of the tour.
This is very good news, and Harvey will replace Alan Saint Maximin on the left wing, with the Frenchman joining Saudi club Al-Ahli for around £26M (€30M).
That deal must have been agreed to before Newcastle would announce the signing of Barnes.
