Here is Eddie Howe’s interview with Sky Sport’s reporter Keith Downie before tonight’s third and final game in the Premier League Summer Series in America against Brighton, who finished 6th top of the Premier League last season on 62 points.
The game will take place in the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from New York City.
It is the home stadium of the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer and NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League.
It should be another close and interesting game tonibht with the kickoff set at 7:30pm local time – that’s 12:30am (Saturday) Newcastle time.

Comment #404Great to see young Miley and Anderson playing so well.
Miley is a tremendous talent,I can see him getting some game time this season.
Anderson has developed nicely.
I would not be worried about either of them starting.

Ah, missed that injured part. He is always laughing with Joelinton in trainings, that’s why bit weird when he looks gloomy.

Hi Micky lad, and yes that latest podcast from Eddie Tyneside life was simply superb, he suffered acute depression in his earlier life mate, so it`s always a good news story to see someone turn their life round for the better Micky, he comes across as a really grounded and really nice bloke, not to mention a really passionate and loyal Newcastle fan.

Comment #407I thought Ashby showed shades of what he was reputed to be last night. If he can pick up plenty of lessons from trips I think he could be starting in that rb role in a season or two.
Alex Murphy looks really really good. In both CB and LB he has looked competent. Defensively solid and composed on the ball.
Howe bigged up Parkinson in his pre-match interview as well it it sounds like he has been tearing it up in training. Got in to some good positions in his cameo last night.
As many have alluded to this morning, the future is looking very nice.

4 years ago, I wore the Newcastle jersey for the first time. At that moment, I hadnāt realized that not only was I about to become a Newcastle player, but I was also about to become a Geordie.
You might think Ā« nice Goodbye message Ā» but the sentiment runs deeper than any words I could say, from the very first months that I met the people of this city, I truly understood them and embraced their unwavering passion, which is why it was so important for me to give my all and if this meant to play injured or even not making statistics, I didnāt give a sh** as long as it would help my team.
Believe me, I fell for Newcastle, I had great opportunities to leave during dark days, but that was too late I was already in love, I wanted, I needed, I had to stay for helping my team to save the club from Premier League relegation because it meant the world for me.
Of course during those dark days some may have had their doubts, but I always believed in this club and look where we are today, it’s just so beautiful. I’m leaving Newcastle as it should always have been and that’s my greatest trophy because I was a part of it.
A deep thank you to ALL of you, my team mates, the loyal fans, the staff, the Club, etc⦠Iāve seen all your messages, thank you and even though this chapter has ended, the story never stops. Newcastle is home now, I’ll continue to be your biggest supporter, I’ll watch every game and as long as the club keeps winning I’ll be the happiest man in the world⦠and for sure you will see me again ?
I love you, I love you sincerely, I love you like a Geordie brother. Once a Geordie, always a Geordie

Comment #411After EH said he would like another two signings in this window -as another poster has suggested surely it will be a fullback and a centre half. Think he is satisfied with the forwards -so far.

Comment #413Excellent trip to the states for all concerned, imv.
Eddie’s really used this to build his squad confidence and develop a rotional quality.
Just like the other games, bha started with a very strong team against a ‘try out’ team from us. Which we matched, easily, their ‘goal’ was deeply unfortunate, so much so that welbeck couldn’t believe his luck and was slightly embarrassed slotting home.
Then once they started to match up in terms of kids on the field, we dominated them, showing a maturity in our kids that is priceless! We approached every game perfectly…gave nothing of our tactics away, matched 3 very good teams, brought thru some excellent prospects, unbeaten…whats not to like/get!

Comment #415Difficult to tell with new signings whether buying a readily available young squad players, verses waiting for expensive signings that will slot right in to a CL first team. Especially if that wait is until January, when we are an even more attactive proposition playing in the latter stages.

Comment #419During matches the blog can only be described as a nut house. Bloggers just shoot from the hip with reactionary comments, especially when weāre losing. But it changes in a heartbeat when we score. I suspect most regret their comments, but really most fans are like this when watching games. Itās why none of us could ever manage a football club. This pre season has been exceptional in terms of bringing on some of our young gems. Have we unearthed another rich seam of Geordie talent after decades of nothing. Beardsley, Waddle and Gazza. Clark, Watson. This time the club is in a much better position to nurture and retain this talent. There is nothing better than seeing local younguns prosper.

Comment #420Maxi was the only reason that most of us turned up to watch the team in the Bruce era. He single handedly kept the club afloat. Just a shame we couldnāt give him the send off he deserved.

Comment #427Vask, I hadn’t read the comments during the game, so missed the irony in your Dummett observations.

Comment #428Over the years there have been a few Players Iāve been gutted to lose at Newcastle United.
Some through injury like Tony Green and otherās who were sold by the club when they should have been kept.
Malcolm Macdonald,
Andy Carroll,
Maxi (although I understand the reasons)
James Milner
Shay Given
Gazza,
Beardsley etc.
I sure you Lads & Lasses could add a lot of more names to that list!

Comment #433I think this USA trip has been a huge, huge success:
– Weāve managed to stay unbeaten even after trying out so many of our kids. We were far off playing at full strength, so staying unbeaten was a massive bonus.
– Given so many of our youngsterās valuable experience and time gelling and training with the seniors, and fortunately not one of them have let us down. Theyāve been an absolute inspiration and revelation. Itās safe to say they all have a very bright future on what weāve witnessed from this trip.
– Canāt beat warm weather training and the lads have had plenty on this trip.
– Eddie and his staff have had hugely positive outcomes from all their experiments after trying out different methods, techniques and set ups. They will have learned a lot after this trip. Which is what preseason is all about.
– The Comradery, spirit, togetherness and friendship of this squad of players is second to none and we have again witnessed firsthand so many video clips and pictures of this on the trip.
So, the lads will head back yem from the good old US of A with their tails up and even more wind in their sails and ready for the Sena Cup where Iād imagine weād see some stronger lineups as the new season fast approaches.
Onwards and upwards
Howay the lads š

“There is no news (in terms of an update). I want to stay, but the doubt is ongoing. So, letās seeā.
Newcastle have been trying to push the new contract through for a few months now with Bruno’s representatives. He is already one of the top earners at St James’ Park but he is being closely watched by Real Madrid who are long-term admirers.
Bruno, come on lad. There’s still work to do and your head’s been turned?
You love us.. but?
Aaanyway, I do get it, Bruno and others: If we want to be among the best in the PL and the world, we need to recruit the best and the best expect top salaries. Freshly painted facilities, heated pools, great fans and coaches are all nice but they need to see the Dosh.
We’ll eventually need to catch up on salaries. Fact.

No need to slam the door behind the lad š
Me, I totally disagree. Nearly great, as in unfinished business. He isn’t going to dribble past Munich’s defence to get the winning CL final goal now, is he?
He never would have anyway, one may say.
We’ll never know for sure I say.
