Newcastle Are Close To Signing One Of Our Top Summer Targets – Deal Has Just Been Agreed!

There will be an announcement soon that Newcastle’s 21-year-old right-back Harrison Ashby will move to Swansea on loan for the coming season and wear the number 30 shirt for The Swans. the same number he wears on Tyneside.

That will be a good move for Ashby as the lad needs games to become a better and more experienced player at Newcastle.

Newcastle have seemed willing to let Ashby leave and that begs the question of whether things are looking up for our long summer pursuit of Southampton 20-year-old right-back Tino Livramento.

The recruitment team at Newcastle are meticulous and would hardly let Ashby leave unless someone else was coming in to fill the gap.

We do of course have Emil Krafth coming back from an ACL injury and he was outstanding for us in the second half of the season before last, when Kieran Trippier was out injured.

The Swedish International played so well in that famous run-in to that season when we escaped relegation and finished in 11th place.

In our final 18 games of the season from 22nd January, we won 12 and drew one for a massive 37 points, – unbelievable given we had only 7 points (7 draws) from our first 14 games.

Did I say it was just unbelievable!

And news today that Tino Livramento is not expected to travel for the Saints’ first Championship game at Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night.

So maybe we will soon have a breakthrough in our pursuit of the very talented right back who is highly thought of by Newcaste’s Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.

Dan is nothing if not persistent when he wants to sign a player.

News is that the Saints want around £50M for their player and Newcastle recently had a £30M bid turned down so perhaps something closer to £40M can be agreed to – by both clubs?

We will have to wait and see, but it’s clear Newcastle think this lad can become an excellent player for us if we can get him in and under the coaching of Eddie Howe.

And in fact as I finished the article news is coming through from a number of sources that Newcastle have indeed agreed a deal for Livramento, who was very keen to join our club.

Sky Sports have just reported that a deal has been agreed between Newcastle and the Saints for Tino Livramento.

The agreed to fee is somewhere between £35M and £40M, so he doesn’t come cheap.

And that means that Sandro Tonali (£52M), Harvey Barnes (£38M) and now Tino Lavramento (let’s say £40M) have cost Newcastle around £130M this summer.

What do you think about all of this?

Comments are always welcome.

It also means I can see TDS’s golf grip better and I think it needs work! 😉

Only kidding TD, my grip was awful when I played and even getting pro coaching didn’t help me much, boy I could slice a Tee shot with the best of them, often onto the wrong fairway. 😆

Superb signing. Has the quality to either become a starter this season, or be a regular starter for many years to come. Fantastic talent.

I imagine the price is high due to Chelsea weird selling on fee. There’s some rumours it could even be as high as 40-50%, if that’s the case can understand why Southampton wanted a big fee.

I read somewhere that Livramento could play RCB extremely well.

    Interesting option.

More leniency for robust tacklers? Fiddling while Rome burns?

    We’ve got BDB.

Might be a case of fiddling while Burn roams.

    Adam,

A mate of mine reckons £30m. Not sure where he’s gotten that from mind you, could just be Twitter murmurings. £30m would be a steal for arguably the most promising English right back going.

    TDS,
You are correct re PL vs CL squad places. Dummett is a free hit so he is in and to me you have to name these 20 others:

    GK: Pope, Karius (2)
D: Trips, Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Botman, Burn, Targett (7)
M: Tonali, Bruno, big Joe, little Joe, Longstaff, (5)
F: Almiron, Murphy, Barnes, Gordon, Wilson, Isak, (6)
    – some may want to debate Targett but if we don’t suddenly buy an LB then Targett is in and if we do buy an LB it would suggest (to me at least) that Targett will go. Ether way that is 21 players total. Then you name a 3rd keeper and you are up to 22 with one space left to fill. Personally my money is on Ritchie taking that place for sheer versatility/experience.

Nothing yet, think it’s tomorrow evening you find out. More concerned that I’ve not had my digital ticket thing sent yet.

    Dazzler

£30-£40m isn’t too bad for a young talented English player, with potential to become a world beater. Still, I imagine it would be a lower price if not for Chelsea weird selling on fee.

Livramento is class and the fee is decent for Southampton so everyone should be happy. We’re definitely recruiting young.
Regarding who is out. Well Krafht is not yet fit enough to undertake a transfer medical and go anywhere, so it would have to be Manquillo if this goes through.
I am also expecting us to complete a loan or two but, as always, these tend to happen nearer the deadline. I don’t think we’ll be done when this is finalised.

I don’t know why Munster is getting so much stick for providing some ITK information. To my mind this stuff adds to the blog – we’ve all got our own minds and can decide whether there is any credence to the ITK stuff or not!!

cleveleysbob – the grip is definitely wrong in that photo! I’d like to say that I wasn’t fully set when the photo was taken but I believe I did slice that drive anyway so maybe I didn’t change it at all!

I know loads has changed in my technique since then though. Feel like Anderson must feel…so close to a big breakthrough!

Sky say £32m + add-ons (which could rise to £40m) – I would trust Sky over the Chronic.

Martoon – there’s a difference between passing on information from other sources (which Mund has done plenty of times) and posting comments taking credit for inside information.

I’m not particular interested in either (as I would prefer to wait a little longer and get alerts on verified information – which I did a few minutes ago) but at respect the former. The latter feels like taking credit for someone else’s work.

Taco – Longstaff a free hit too but none others sadly. A 3rd keeper will surely be in and a left back (Targett or new). I think the other spot will be a new centre back. No room in that squad to sign others. That would leave Ritchie and Krafth/Manq in the PL squad but out of the CL squad.

Wonder when Luke Edwards or Craig Hope come out with the next speculative nonsense regards our transfer window.

Was always going to be huge for the club, and so far so good. Only slight disappointment was Maddison but money talks with some players. Shitty Spurs.

Hope Kane moves on as Spurs are mid table at best without him.

    As TDS has pointed out

    “@SeanCasey

I’m hearing Livramento is a done deal”

    Is not the same as:

“I’m hearing Livramento is a done deal”

Especially when it was said weeks ago, nothing came of it then and actual journalists with actual credible sources said a deal was a way off at the time.

I don’t have an issue with Munster, I think he loves a good wind up at times but he’s a good part of the blog ecosystem.

But I don’t like “I told you so” at the best of times, least of all when we’re told something and it was wrong at the time. It happening weeks later is coincidental, not correct.

Agreed – it wasnt agreed two weeks ago, so both casey and munster were proper wrong.

He most certainly cannot take any credit for this mess. He has embarrassed himself in this case.

He should apologise to the blog for being an imposter. Simple really, maybe it should be wrote into the coc.

He should also give credit to Toastie, who warned the blog of his duff info. (In this case)

    Mund, astonishing it’s true!

    Matthews 1932 – 1965 (retired aged 50!)
    Shilton 1966 – 1997
    Buffon 1995 – 2023

Of course no men’s football during the war but that is an amazing stat.

“I never saw Matthews play but he was another one my Dad raved about. He must have had some engine.”

I saw Matthews at SJP but he didn’t get a look in against Alf McMichael – strange thing was Matthews was more often than not “Injured” when Blackpool were at Newcastle….. so I suppose I was lucky to have a wee look at Sir Stanley!
