Comment #164onmeedsun – it’s a bit insulting to think that I post a contrary view on this blog just to get a rise out of people. It’s just my view.
The whole point was regarding the NE getting a raw deal and some negative comments regarding players preferring to play in Manchester or London. My point was that this isn’t a myth perpetuated by football pundits, this is the reality.

Comment #165There are dividing lines it just depends which one you prefer to choose.
M62 – probably a bit too far South.
A59 – a decent shout as it runs from York to Liverpool and omits Leeds and Manchester.
A66 – perhaps extreme, but as pointed out it’s where the North signs stop.
A69 – Oops! Tough one. 😆
Me, born in Newcastle, only once lived south of M62 (a brief sojourn in Doncaster), got a nosebleed and moved to Wetherby. Now in South Shields (Mrs CB’s home town). I still get a bit teary eyed @sight of Angel, Tyne Bridge and Cathedral on hill. Soppy old get. 🙂

Comment #169TTT / Raider. There cannot be more than 20 in each division. Raider it looks like there will be a couple drop out which should leave slots available for anyone wanting to join.

Comment #174Peter which end? South of Sheffield or as you hit the M62?
I stopped using M18 after they extended the M1 to almost Wetherby then linked to A1(M) & toss a coin to stay on A1 or shoot up A19. 😉

Comment #182TDS – when your brother called you a southern softie this may be the root cause of your hatred of the north.
You have lived with this for years- hence your current beliefs – and you continue to lash out and scream hysterically when the subject comes up.
I do not think Botman and Tonali have been kidnapped and clones of them sent to the Toon – it is really them.
You’ve stretched out your anti Toon rhetoric longer than anyone could have imagined – must be a world record.

Comment #188Mister Tuff – you’ve got me. I have based my entire personality and views of the north on one piece of banter that my brother said to me. I think I’ll have to go and have a lie down after that revelation…it’s incredible.
I was going to say that the Botman point proves that every player wants to play in Newcastle about as well as the Ekitike point proves that nobody wants to play in Newcastle. I was going to take the middle ground but you’ve convinced me of the error of my ways…

Comment #189Harmless extremists do make me chuckle. Can’t get my head around how people choose to live like that, preferring dumb ignorance to actually figuring things out. Bit like a pet dog…actually, maybe they’re onto something and dumb ignorance is the way to go! Dogs always seem pretty happy and content…

It fills me with pride to see two lots of friendly matches sell out, unfortunately a major horlick has been dropped here with pricing and ticketing and I think the best we can hope for is about 30K in each.

Comment #192Nice one Hibbit. There seems a good argument for bringing back Northumbria as an Independant state with Newcastle at its centre and Capital. Basically it encompasses what is now East, North and West Yorkshire but only north of the M62, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland, plus Lothian & Borders region of Scotland.
Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, Cheshire and the Wirral are all now officially South of Northumbria. Good. 😀

AGM – correct, I even call one of my best mates from Keighley a southerner )
Dr Gloom,
My Dad born WB my Mam Cullercoats my maternal Grandma took her family to Keighley to find work. My Nana was diagnosed with cancer when my mother was expecting me and went to be with her Mother whilst she was I’ll resulting in my birth in Yorkshire. My affinities have always been with Newcastle and their football team. I’ve lived in Whitley Bay since 1956 apart from 4 years in Marske when I was working there. I’ve always considered Keighley to be a northern town. I still visit West Yorkshire to see some of my cousins.
I vaguely recall seeing the ‘55 cup final at a friends house in Keighley and even though I can’t recall much about the game it was at that point I became a fully paid up member of our football club and started to go to watch Newcastle when they were playing around that area. If Toon were elsewhere I’d go to Elland Road or Valley Parade to watch a game. I also watched Bradford PA at times they played in Green & White stripes.

Comment #200JohnJ now that you’re about thanks for the tip about cataracts you shared along with Peter. I do have signs of something starting to bugger up my vision (although I’ve been shortsighted and worn glasses since I was 7). The problem is that in this country opticians exist to sell you specs, so they don’t refer you to the eye hospital until you’re almost blind in one eye! 😀
Can’t afford to go private these days and the premiums for health insurance goes through the roof once you you pass 60, so I’ll have to wait until I’m Long John Silver before I’ll get referred. 😆
