Newcastle United 5 Aston Villa 1 – NBC Video Highlights – Plus Howe’s NBC Post-Match Interview

Here are the video highlights from NBC Sports of our 5-1 beating of Aston Villa this afternoon in our first league game of the season.

An (another) incredible performance from Eddie Howe’s side and we could be even better than last season, but of course, we have a lot more games to play this season with the Champions League – and we mustn’t get carried away.

Well, not too much, anyway.

🙂

But the result and performance in our first game of the season could hardly have been better.

We wonder what Sandro Tonali will be thinking tonight – he put in a world-class performance today, scored after 6 minutes, and it just how good our recruitment team is – led by Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.

Newcastle are in a good place right now – amnd it’s likelyto get better too – hope so.

Here are the highlights (you can put it on full screen by clicking at the bottom right corner after you hit the link) that will have the City Center of Newcastle buzzing all next week.

🙂

Here is Eddie Howe’s interview with NBC Sports after the game.

Giving my season ticket up was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but I know from today, I just can’t do it for my BP especially when I can’t even see a bloody doctor.
But today was fantastic even using my phone to get in mind I had to go up to the box Friday to get it transferred from my son. Who had been up to sort it all Wednesday morning.
    But got in no bother.
It was excellent to be back, love, and I know I’ll always be able to go whenever I feel better. HWTL my team.

Almiron is perfectly suited to the bench. He should sit beside Longstaff.

Sorry to see Max move on but his stop start style of play has been super ended by the fluidity of Gordon and Barnes.

Great to see it only took the club £200m worth of handsome talent to get you back in your seat! 😉

WHAT a game to give you your match day mo-jo back!

Watching the games on Match of the Day there were definitely no close ups of the technical areas in all the games televised. And anything showing activity on the benches – compared to last season.
Be interesting to see if this really is the case after a few weeks of games.

I was hoping to see Klipperty and Arteta ranting and raging on the touchline.

All caught up. Carltoon, I’ve heard reports that Shelvey is being watched very closely by his family. They’re so worried since you dumped him. However, Tonali! If that was a statement of intent… Hubba Hubba Hubba. Bring it on mate, we can take it!

Would that be a relative of yours, per chance?

Vask, you’re a very bad man! Fingerwagemoji thingy!

Only one relative that I know of in the NHS and they are nowhere near consultant, never mind one of the best in the country. I know you were playing but I genuinely hate to see players injured. I know he’s in good hands, but it didn’t look good. 🙁

Incredible performance. Tonali is beautifully balanced in terms of how he receives the ball and he passes it so quickly. Gordon has stepped up hugely. Bruno has definitely put on weight but he’ll get fitter as we go.

Outstanding performance against Villa. Tonali….well, if that’s what we’ve got to expect from him every week….we may have one of the best midfielders in the Prem. I’m gonna call this now, as much as I would hate to see him go, but Bruno is gonna be our Suarez/Coutinho and sold at the end of the season for an eye watering amount of cash. We’ll need a big money sale to navigate FFP and I think he’s gonna be the one. When you look how well Anderson and Miley are coming on, I don’t think he’ll be that much of a miss.

And just think…..we might be able to bring in Barella and Osimhen off the back of it. The Saudis are itching to pull the trigger on some big name signings. They just need the slightest window of opportunity.

Of course, I’m currently half cut on rum and may very well be talking out of my ample arse. We’ll nivva knaa.

My word, what a game that was. I’m actually optimistic going into the game against City next weekend. They would have played an extra game and De Bruyne will be missing, so we could cause them some real bother.

And as a bonus, if TAA and Shaw can get a combined score of 10 or more tomorrow then I think I’ll be top of Ed’s league. Obviously if that happens I’m taking a screenshot and then shutting the whole thing down. 😀

The Danish commentators made a good point during the game…

Allot have been made about the tough teams we will draw because we are in pot 4 in the Champions League.

Imagine being in pot 1 or 2 and now for the easy team from pot 4, and you draw Newcastle… A few long faces I would imagine.
