More Good News Being Reported About Newcastle’s Late Transfer Endeavors

There has been more good news about Newcastle’s efforts to sign a left-back before the end of the summer transfer window.

We have been linked with many left-sided defenders, including initially Arsenal’s Scottish left-back Kieran Tierney.

But Newcastle have turned their attention in recent days and weeks to Chelsea’s 18-year-old English left-back Lewis Hall.

News is that Chelsea wanted around £35M for the youngster, who has played for every English youth side through the U21 side.

He seems a prodigious young talent and news today in the Telegraph that Chelsea have accepted an initial fee of £28M for the Slough-born youngster, and there will be add-ons to that, depending on how Lewis does.

Maybe add-ons even up to £35M?

Lewis does not come cheap, but he’s an excellent player who can develop into a top-class player for us on Tyneside.

He is keen to join the club since his parents are Newcastle fans and he has supported the Magpies as a youngster.

This lad is already very good and he played 11 times for Chelsea last season:  Lewis made his debut for the Blues back in early January 2022, during an FA Cup third-round win against Chesterfield at Stamford Bridge.

He’s the type of young talent that Eddie Howe loves to coach, and I am sure Howe knows exactly the areas Hall can improve on if he does sign for Newcastle.

If we can get him through the door, which could happen in the next day or two, it will have been another remarkable transfer window for Newcastle.

We will have signed Sandro Tonali signed from AC Milan for around £52M (Toonali?), Harvey Barnes from Leicester for £38M, Tino Livramento from Southampton for £32M, and now Lewis Hall from Chelsea for (let’s say £32M) for a total of around £154M.

Hall will get a five-year deal so the cost of his transfer is amortized over that time, to help with the Financial Fair Play limits.

The transfers in are amortized over the length of the contract for FFP, but the transfer out we get the full amount immediately: that’s worth remembering.

All four players will be in the first-team squad for next season and with many players much better than last season, like Anthony Gordon, Elliot Anderson, Alexandar Isac, and others, our squad is definitely stronger than last season – and needs to be with all the games coming up.

Here are the lads in training for the tough trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

=======

And last but certainly not least, congratulations to our England Women’s team who beat Australia 3-1 yesterday in the semi-final of the Women’s World Cup to set up a final with Spain on Sunday.

We will be cheering hard for our women to become World Champions – wouldn’t that be something!!

Must say, Ed’s post is heart breaking.

No more childish arguments lads, beyond the fact Ed have other things to deal with, it’s obvious it must be painfull for him to read that.

I can indeed confirm a CHAPS payment made out to CFC has just left the account for the sum of 5.6 million

That’s approximately 2.8 million per foot for an outstanding young man who is actually no relation to sir John….but I’m sure will be made very welcome regardless

Cant tell you his first name…its top secret.

    You heard it here last;)

On Manu, we’ll see their attitude change sharpish when the sponsors threaten to walk. If you want action hit them on the bottom line.

Not tongue in cheek at all.
We are still short a CB with pace. Certain teams can hurt us through the middle.
But if we get one and we do not go too far in CL ( but I think we will) then we are contenders.
This squad last season without CL would be doing an Arsenal but not folding.
Good odds at 16 to 1

” Greenwood is an absolute disgrace and shouldn’t be allowed near a professional football pitch ever again. What he did to that young lady was disgusting and despicable and if someone done that to my daughter they’d pray the police got to him first. Lowlifes that treat woman in such a way have no place in society… Greenwood has gotten away with such a heinous crime by manure allowing him back on board as they have and shame on them. Just shows you what type of club manure actually are.

All the football grounds he plays at will give him a good dose of what we think of this lowlife coward. He will get it both barrels.”

Absolutely spot on. EGB you’re being very naive there. Either the parents were paid off or any witnesses were got at….and yes as sure as night follows day he’ll batter her again at some point, these types always do and then are always repentant immediately after saying it’ll never happen again.

Since This deal looks like it may well go though I though I was find what Chelsea think of him. His is a mixed summary of their comments between November and May:

“I didn’t know much about him before last night. Feels good to have another young prospect doing well, especially in a position where his abilities are very welcome. He’s a CM/LB, right? That’s ideal. ”

“Really impressed with him last night, just a shame we got drawn away to City straight away in the cup as I would like to see more of him this season.”

“There’s our backup to Chilwell. Now watch him immediately get sent back to the youth team.”

“Did well going forward, but was bad defensively. Was out of position a lot and struggled when they attacked down our left.”

“Absolute breath of fresh air, looked super quality on the ball, our version of Foden, couple of good games, they’ll be clamouring to get him in the future senior England squads…”

“Lad is our own Zinchenko. Can play LB and CM pretty well. Could make LB his own if Potter utilizes him correctly. Could shift into midfield when we are in the build up and defensive transition phase.”

“Clearly a great prospect but would be far better after a season in the championship. Fantastic feet, great energy, keeps his cool but (I) got through on goal but missed a good chance to score in each of his games and (2) needs to work hard on his defending. ”

“Lewis hall has made spending 60m on cucu looks stupid. This is what I don’t understand about us.

“Why spend big on this average player when you have academy player this good. I don’t expect Hall to unseat chilwell if Chilwell is healthy but he is good enough as part of rotation.”

“I’ve defended Hall against some ridiculously over the top criticism over the past few weeks but he had a very poor game today and was rightly hooked. However he is clearly a bright prospect and I think he has a genuine chance of being a long time regular first team player given we are focusing on youth now.”

“He’s still young so he will get better but I don’t think he’s ready for a place in Chelsea’s first team. I also don’t think it’s wrong to say he isn’t good enough yet, just because he’s 18 and academy lad doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be held to the same standard as the rest of the team. Next season we should look to loan him out.”

“Hell of a talent, and what a game he had. 3 key passes and 2 big chances created in 90 mins. To put that performance into perspective James has created 3 big chances all season long, and averages 1.3 key passes per game. You look further into the stats and he made 5 accurate long balls out of 6 attempts, those are Trent & De Bruyne territory numbers. It gets scarier when you consider he was up against Wan Bisaka at fullback who is considered one of the best defensive fullbacks in the game. This wasn’t even a one off; he had another big game v City, you could see his game getting better aa he gets more starts. Which is what most of our young talents ever needed, game time & trust. All this at just 18, and he isn’t even a LB by trade.

Under the right manager he could be turned into an absolute weapon like Harry Redknapp did by converting Bale into a world class LW. You give him out to De Zerbi for a season, he will return a £50m+ player. Boehly needs to be handing him an improved contract now on the one he just signed, as that one expires in 2025. Pochettino also needs to make him a permanent fixture in the 1st team, find him a spot at LB or LW. Find a buyer for Cucurella or switch Sterling to RW. Every PL club is now aware of his talent, and are just waiting on us to screw it up.”

While I was there I also found Hall was Chelsea’s academy POTS last season.

In a bit I will post what they have been saying in the past 24 hrs….

The basic amount is approved, he’s convinced he’s coming, just waiting for the bean counters to come to an acceptable accommodation.

Won’t be long. Possible medical tomorrow, anyone know if there’s a space booked?

Great to see the owners making improvements all across the club

Great signings for the 1st team, u21, academy players being boosted with talent, the womens side has had an influx of signings to help push them towards the 2nd tier.

Reece Byrne hasn’t been made official yet but believe he signed a month or so ago.
