18-Year-Old Lewis Hall Signs On Loan With Obligation To Buy – I Am Honored To Wear The Shirt – His First Interview

Lewis Hall has been signed on a season-long loan with Newcastle and we have an obligation to buy the player for £28M, plus £7M add-ons next summer, depending on how well Hall and Newcastle do in subsequent seasons.

Lewis seems like a lovely, ambitious lad with his feet firmly on the ground.

This boy can become another great player at Newcastle over the next decade or so – and it’s another great signing by our recruitment team.

This is what the 18-year-old said on signing for the club he has supported, with his father having been born and bred in Newcastle:

“I’m very proud. Me and my family are Newcastle fans, and for me and my brother growing up, it was drilled into us that we were Newcastle. It’s a big club and I can’t wait to get started.”

“I got a lot of experience last year in some big fixtures and I was really proud of the way I progressed as a player and a person.”

“To now be here at Newcastle, the club that I’ve supported since I was a kid, I’m honored and very proud to wear this shirt.”

“It’s very exciting. When you look back on last season and the way the team performed – not just the results, but the performances the team were putting in – it was amazing.”

“There’s so many talented players and we’ve got the Champions League now as well so there’s many different competitions that I know the team will be wanting to do well in, and hopefully get a trophy or two as well.”

This is what Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe, said about his new player:

“I’m delighted to welcome Lewis to Newcastle United.”

“He is a player we have tracked closely, as have a number of clubs, so it’s very pleasing to secure him and to add a player of his quality, versatility and high potential to our squad.”

“I’d like to thank everyone involved for their tireless work to bring in the players we have.”

“A lot of time, effort, and resource goes into a transfer window, but we have a real togetherness at all levels here and I appreciate that teamwork and support.”

This may be our last signing of this summer, but I have a feeling we could bring in one more first-team player before the transfer window slams shut.

Hope so!

The way your giving Bruno these pelters(as you call them)
Have you forgot the way you slagged Longstaff off less than a year ago( even I never give Longstaff your degree of verbal)

    Form is temporary
    Class is permanent

TDS, my retirement plans included a lot of golf.

But for once I hadn’t done my research. Turned out the house I’d bought and fixed up in Turkey was a minimum 45min drive away and charged higher fees than St Andrews as it was the only course in that part of the Country. As I’d retired early, and a number of my pensions didn’t “kick in” until I hit 65, I was on a limited budget initially, so couldn’t justify either the cost or the time away from the Mrs in a ‘New’ country. Golf went out the window and I sold all my gear to a hotel owner I knew who was just getting into the game. Not played since, nearly 14 years since last round. 🙁

Coming Home – is it possible that Bruno is neither as good as some were making out last season or as bad as some seem to be making out now? Maybe he’s just a very good player and is subject to peaks and troughs of form like every other mortal.

I’m happy with every single one of our players so far. Can’t expect them all to be at their best 100% of the time but we have a great team.

    Missed out “from the course”

As in minimum 45minute drive from the course……

Oops my fault, can’t blame anything else for that! 😀

CBob – bummer when plans don’t quite work out. It’s never too late though if you wanted to take it up again…

You still got the place in Turkey? Some lovely places to visit there, I love the ancient history stuff. I also thought good food but have been overall disappointed a couple of times when I’ve been there.

Bruno has been a pro baller long enough to know that a certain section of “fans” will give pelters every time the team don’t perform. I imagine he’ll be disappointed that he bit and that Tripps and Lascelles have already had a word.

A bit of a none story IMO.

Bruno can’t score and assist all games but TBH he isn’t playing bad the workmate is still there and teams close him down a lot more now
I’m still over the moon with him and he will continue to be of the highest quality for years to come and supporters should realise that

Depending on how the injury is he might still not trust his ankle.

We’ve all been injured before and it does knock you down from peak levels (physical and psychological)

Bruno will be back. But he needs real competitive game time.

He should be at peak levels come thr CL game run.

Coming Home – I’m completely with you there. I think he’s likely to continue playing slightly more defensively, which is typically a role that certain types of fans don’t appreciate so much but his teammates will love his work rate. Unlike the dark days, there’s not a single player in our squad that I don’t rate and support for their value to the team. Ok…maybe Dubravka, that boat sailed for me when he threw his toys out of the pram and went to Man Utd.

WLToon – I think it’s more a case of stop Bruno and stop the toon so they basically crowd Bruno and let him have no time on ball ( either by cynical fouls or just crowding him out) , Man City pushed high up the pitch but they are probably the only team that can successfully do this over 90 mins , Villa tried it and were successful at times but didn’t have the quality to sustain it – hopefully EH has a plan B for when Arsenal and Brighton try it

I am on record on numerous occasions saying that Bruno is one of the best midfielders n the world.
I am also on record to say that his performances since the ankle injury have dropped from 9 to 7.
Some may think he is still playing 9 games.
Of course he can return to the 9 guy but there is a reason why his form is not as good. Ankle injury//affecting training/Madrid interest or whatever..
We need him back at 9 .

TDS, no, sold up when we came back to U.K. – doubled my money so not bad for 5years.

It became too complicated to stay there, as they kept changing the rules regarding residency without prior warning. We initially had a 5 yr residency which was complex but OK to get organised. But when we came to renew, they’d changed it to 1 x year max. Included Private medical insurance as a requirement and renewal meant going to Mugla the State capital to complete each time. Once your over 65 medical Insurance is astronomic, literally 000’s each pa in premiums, then the annual hassle of driving 4 hours+ to Mugla then the return, we decided to just renew for the 1 x year and planned our return. We actually “had to renew” as without the residency, we were illegal, and if we turned up at Airport to leave the Country we’d be arrested, fined and possibly jailed, so it wasn’t worth the risk. “Turkish Jails, no thanks”.

We lived in a Little fishing village called Gundogan on the Bodrum peninsular and the food was fabulous. Avoid tourist areas!! + Gundogan basically means dawn in Turkish, the original Greek name for the village was Farilya – dawn in Greek I believe. Gun is good, as in Gun aydan which is good day!

No because as iv said if they’re marking Bruno out because he was a threat then there’s more space for others(that’s logic)

And as TDS said Bruno is playing further back and a DM doesn’t get the recognition as AM’s do

In tonight’s CL qualifier playoffs (1st leg) there is one fixture of note:

Rakow Czestochowa vs FC Copenhagen – If Rakow Czestochowa win this over the 2 legs we will gain another €1.137m (we already gained €1.137 during the previous round when AEK Athens knocked Dynamo Zagreb OOT).

    In tomorrows games:
Maccabi Haifa vs Young Boys – Maccabi Haifa winning over the 2 legs will gain us another €1.137m.

Sporting Braga vs Panathinaikos – Panathinaikos winning over the 2 legs will gain us another €1.137m

    Jimiley,

Not really. If Bruno was a 9 and two of Longstaff/Willock/Joelinton (last year) were 7s then that’s a total of 23.

If Bruno is now a 7 but one of the other two get a 9 a game on average then it evens out and still comes to the same total. So what’s the the issue? Bruno is doing Longstaffs job at the minute, so he’s not doing the same role as last season.

The midfield is better this season with Tonali and an improved Anderson. That’s not up for debate IMO, Bruno is an effective part of that midfield whether he gets a load of goals and assists or not. Just because he’s not producing the end product (because he is sitting deeper) does not mean he’s not contributing to a midfield that still operates at largely the same level.

One game does not a crap footballer make. Bruno is fkn class, no matter what role the manager has him playing.

What you’ve got to understand with the likes of Bruno is that he was one of the first of the new stars to arrive. Yes we had Trippier but we knew of Trippier and what he could offer on the pitch but with Bruno he stood more because at the time we were desperate for a player like him in the middle and when he arrived he showed the quality we had been missing. The thing is the more Bruno’s alike we add to the team the more the shine will be took off him as we have quality all over now. That doesn’t mean Bruno has suddenly lost it as he hasn’t and he is still world class but he might not stand out as much as before because of the quality all over doing their bit as well.

Take one sentence. “Bruno has dropped back to do Longstaff’s job”

That says it all. We’ve mostly been saying on here that Longstaff does the dirty unseen stuff, nothing elaborate or flashy, just mopping up behind the midfield in a tidy “get and give” action.
As such he’s been criticised occasionally for not “giving enough”, despite us struggling whenever he’s missing.

Now Longstaff is missing, we’ve more or less got Tonali doing Bruno’s old job and Bruno doing Longstaffs, so he’s going to look “off the boil” compared to last year because he’s carrying out different instructions to do a different role. QED.

Entitled Idiots on Twitter will never put a barrier up between the players and the toon army. We have too good of a relationship for this to happen. The players know this for sure…

I can see Bruno getting a huge reception from the fans on Sunday and I can also see Bruno having a top game. I’d absolutely love him to score and we will celebrate it wildly with him. The game on Sunday is huge and Eddie will have the lads absolutely pumped right up for this game and to blow the cobwebs away from our very narrow loss against City which was IMO very unfortunate.

Message to all you posters (not trolls you’re insignificant) that have been posting unnecessary negativity about our club and team. Just stand back and think long and hard as to where we were to where we are now and how we got here, also don’t forget that nothing is perfect in life and mistakes can happen from time to time, don’t give our owners, management or players negative unnecessary pelters, instead give them some credit they deserve for giving us huge hope and belief back and putting a huge smile on our faces, if you can’t have belief, hope and smile now with what we have become and where we find ourselves right now, then there is no helping anyone of you which is the only sad thing about any of this. Seriously there is absolutely nothing to be negative about, only huge amounts of positivity.

    HWTL 🙂
