Dream big, there was a sense of injustice in both games last season.
It’s time to right a few wrongs.

Now seems a good time to take a look a Lpool fans initial thoughts…

“I wish we destroy them. But if offered i would take a point.”

“They looked imperious against Villa. Got away with a flattering scoreline from the Etihad. Obviously their stadium is a fortress, and we’ve had a few defensive f*ck ups already this season, but I think our lads will bring it big time here. Going for 3-1 to the reds, Diaz, Salah, Dom.”

“Thier midfield is a huge test for ours. If Mac Allister and Jones are out they may need to consider Bejcetic or Thiago for this. Endo, Gakpo and Szoboszlai as a 3 would be the most match ready midfield but seems a bit risky. If there’s no other signing for this game then it’ll certainly set the mood on midfield reinforcements either way. They’ll be 100 miles an hour for this and it’s a difficult tie. Get through it and it starts to set the tone for the season ahead.”

“Very difficult game given the atmosphere and their physicality. However, I feel this game suits us as we can do them on the counter. We need to be tidier on the ball and avoid silly giveaways.”

“Beat them home and away last season lets do it again. I hope Jones is fit, need him to start if Mac doesn’t get his red card over turned.”

“Used to be an easy game. No longer.”

“Newcastle confuse me a fair bit. On paper I don’t think their team’s all that. Plenty of good players, but few top notch. Yet, they seem to perform very well. I suppose a little credit must go to Eddie Howe.
I cannot get past the idea we ought to beat these, but at the same time, I appreciate it’s going to be a tough tough game.”

“They’re just a very good team, but kind of basic in their approach. They don’t do anything fancy, don’t play with a really high line, don’t press like crazy, don’t invert fullbacks, etc. Think Howe has done a good job, regardless of who his employers are and how much they’ve already spent. There’s not many in their first 11 we would take but they knit it all together well.”

“The key thing is they all work their bollocks off which makes up for any other deficiencies they may have.
We’re going to need to be in really good physical condition to keep up with the pace they’ll be going at, especially with the support of their fans pushing them on.
It’s quickly become one of the toughest away games of the season and we’ll do really well to get 3 points there.”

“A draw is fine. 5 points with Chelsea & Newcastle away is a solid start. Think with the issues we have we will struggle away from home against the top6-9 sides. With the attack we have I think we will overpoer the rest as we did with Bournemouth”

“I’m still not programmed to accept anything less than 3 points against Newcastle. I’m sure given their vast wealth and inevitable improvement that will change but for now I still think we should go there and try and go all out to get the win.”

“Feel like this will be the same as last season with lots of chances on both sides so hopefully their finishing is as bad as it was when we won there and Alisson is god mode as usual. 7 from 9 with two of our hardest fixtures done would be a brilliant return.”

“These f’ers are now top 3 on teams I want to smash, sportswashing tw*ts.”

“I’d accept a point as a good result if that’s what we end up with, but I wouldn’t take one now if offered it as I think we’re the better team and the most likely winners.
I do appreciate they’re a better team these days and we’re a work in progress. Albeit I don’t think we’re as in transition as some, I think top 4 is the minimum a team with our talent should be looking at.”

(in reply) “I agree but there are still questions about the mentality of this side. They sh*t the bed a bit after a poor start and couldnt recover. Until there is some new evidence about our ability to brush off bad results, i want us to avoid losses as much as possible.”

Taco – not quite sure I was adamant that the Mac Allister red card wouldn’t be overturned but I’m a little surprised that it had been considering VAR already looked at it. I have always said I think it was a soft red but if it’s been overturned then the VAR team should be in for a bollocking as far as I’m concerned. The on-field ref can make a mistake with that but if the mistake is enough for an appeal to rescind it then it should be enough for VAR too.

I think Liverpool are a little lucky as I expected a 1 game suspension but my feeling was that it shouldn’t have been a red to even get to appeal.

So yeah, I got that one a little wrong.

I haven’t given up on a right sided centre back though.

    Should I?

I think we really do need one, and like to imagine we are desperately trying to get a good one in, on loan, with an obligation to buy, as we skillfully navigate that damned annoying FFP. 😉

I really think we are the better team, as the table from last season proved. However, this is one of those games (Like the last one) where I feel that our players have to overcome their inferior complex and play as the stronger team (Unlike the last game) without any fear.

If we go at them with their current midfield and defense, I can see a result to match the Villa one… In fact, I think that Villa and Currently a better and more balanced side than Liverpool.

One more thing… One of their supporters said he wouldn’t take any of our players. Well, I wouldn’t take any of theirs in our starting 11 bar Allison. Not even Salah on current form.

If we play at our best, we probably win. I don’t think any side can cope with us at our best at home. This front foot stuff, is being ingrained in our culture. I think it’s very much how the ownership wants us to play, as we develop our brand.

Just looked up some neutral ratings of Bruno’s performance to see that they tell us.

They do confirm that his performances in the first 2 games of the a season have been below average for him. Please note, TWO games so hardly a genuine pattern.

For the rest of 2023, there were only 2 ratings lower than 6.7 for us (Arsenal and Palace) so that doesn’t match up with the viewpoint that he was really poor in the last few matches of the season even though we heard he was suffering with an ankle injury.

16 matches in from last season in 2023 he scored 7.0 or higher and 7 lower 7.0. Again, hardly a man who wasn’t playing well.

It should also be pointed out that over his entire career, he would score less than 1 goal per 10 matches and also assist less than 1 goal per 10 matches.

Plenty of games to go this season. If he’s still struggling to put in those 7.0+ performances after 10 games then I’ll start to be concerned but I’m very confident in his quality.

There isn’t a problem with Bruno. The others in the team have raised their game therefore he doesn’t stand out as much.
When he first signed he was a pearl among swine.

Regarding Bruno, i, like everyone else wants him to get back to the performances he showed last year, but a rating of 7 or less over a lot of his games isn`t exactly pulling up any trees is it?
Is it good for a player to be playing with an injury for so long that it affects his ratings and form, and more importantly ,his long term fitness issues.
Its an ideal excuse to give for a player who hasn`t been anywhere near his previous best , or maybe he isn`t the world class player some fans claimed he is.
There were two world class midfielders on display on Saturday and none of them were ours.
Im gutted that the Mac allister red card has been rescinded , he plays this weekend so lets see if Bruno can step up to the plate against him and the rest of that horrible bunch.
He didn`t do it against City, and he hasn`t done it for a long time, how long do you want to give him?
I think he will be gone next summer

Now that Liverpool’s established the right to appeal decisions they don’t like and had the red rescinded, how long before some clubs’ll be appealing against results they don’t like.

Cannot stand the scouse scum in LiVARpool.

Last season when those scum got a lucky win in extra added time really peeled me off big style.

I really want us to bash them all over. entitled, toxic, and irritating bunch of scumbags Liverpool are.

They are so salty we are actually a decent side now.

We need to give them a wallop at st james park and avenge our disgraceful loss at home to them last season.

Kick on from the man city disappointment and continue our climb up the table with a resounding 3-0 win.

    The season will be long.

It will be a second leg against City, this time at home, 13/01/2024.

Maybe we will meet them in a Cup Game…

Maybe we will meet them in CPL.

Bruno seems a little low on confidence, his passing hasnt been as assured since preseason.

Many times he could have lifted a ball over the top for miggy but hesitated.

However whatever his current issues are on the pitch he is letting himself down reading twitter and giving some publicity to random shite posters.

Wears his heart on his sleeve does Bruno, hopefully he gets back at it shortly. Talk of him being rested is nonsense, he is a great player.

A massive over reaction to the performance in general just because some people’s expectations of how far we should have bridged the gap between us and them. Too many people forgetting or deliberately not remembering where we were a year and a half ago. The team has been nothing short of incredible and as Bruno said in his rant, it’s easy just to praise in the good moments, how about having a bit of appreciation for them in the bad without all this “it’s my right to crticise”.

    Dr Gloom,
VAR needs to be able to make a decision on what it knows is an offence or not, not whether they think the ref has made an obvious error. “Yes, it is clearly an error and the ref was wrong but we don’t think it was obvious to him so we’ll just let the clearly wrong decision pass” ???

Hopefully he ignores the doubters and has a blinder.
Me personally him and Tonali have got to work out playing together- when they do will be a lethal combination. Also think Bruno has to get rid of the ball quicker – tends to get caught in possession to many times
