The only way we can catch up fast,is if the Saudi yoof start buying sharts..

Doesn’t matter how many sponsors you have, nowt beats selling a few million sharts worldwide..
We will never match Manures income and I mean never, well probably not in the next forty years,in which time I will be dead… 😀

I see that BHA (A) is down to 10 points, that’s how it should be, if they go down to zero it gives those with no points the chance to build theirs up.

For the golfers and those whose heads are messed up by playing the game. My last 2 rounds I shot 101, 31 over par. Today shot 86, 15 shots better. Just bonkers! Probably as good as it gets for me. Feel like retiring on the up! The secret? Reduced the number of duff shots.

In some local Southend news, cos they have failed to pay HMRC money they owe, Southend United have been docked ten point and go to the bottom of the Conference League on -4 points.

One contender less for The Heed!

I think our annual costs have increased by about £100m. Transfer fees over 5 years, player and staff wages. To comply with FFP we need turnover to increase by £100m, and at least maintain that level going forward. That would just maintain what we have now. We’d need a further increase in turnover before we buy any more players. I’d love to see the accounts and then we’d know for sure. So it’s pure guesswork. But the club will know. I’m sure the new CFO walks around the office with the FFP spreadsheet embedded in his head in case Amanda collars him.

    Raj,
Yeah I think it is better this way as it is not a closed shop with the same people guaranteed to get tickets and with no way from other to build up points.

Also I didn’t notice anyone in the media saying our away support was rubbish at Citeh, just cos some different people will have gone.

take off the sensible accountant glasses immediately, and put the black’n’white ones on.

Seriously though, there is loads more scope for sponsorship..

Have we got a sponsor for our pre match warm up bib’s?

I noticed last Saturday that City have.

One thing about the Amazon documentary that shocked me,was the fact that, they had approached something like 1900 companies for our (front of shirt) sponsorship.

Does anyone else think, that it was only one phone call from Yasser to..Well himself.. 😆

I’m seriously thinking of cancelling my Trust membership on the back of this, why don’t they provide the minutes, of the meetings they had with the club..

The club keep hoying out the line, that they held fans forums, who with ffs?
We all know it was with the Trust..

“Toon Army” to me,means travelling thousands of miles every fortnight, even though we have been shite for more than a decade..

All of a sudden we become good, then the season ticket holders (home birds) want to go to away games anarrl..

As I have mentioned before, the main FFP limitation is the UEFA rule which started this season which limits your spend of transfers + agent fees + wages (players and senior coaches) to 90% of your revenue. Next season that become 80% and the season after that it becomes 70% and then stays there.

Our revenue is growing and this is great but as Onmeedsun says so are our costs and we don’t have the same get-outs as other teams do in that we don’t have fringe players to sell for big money and having players like Fraser on our books is literally holding us back:

    Fraser £63,000 p/w (£3,276,000 p/y)
    Hayden £51,000 p/w (£2,652,000 p/y)
    Hendrick £50,000 p/w (£2,600,000 p/y)
    Dubravka £44,000 p/w (£2,288,000 p/y)
    Manquillo £40,000 p/w (£2,080,000 p/y)
That is £248k per week being drained out of our bank account!

Also, the problem we have coming this season is the number of players out of contract next summer. If several players (I am thinking specifically of Wilson, Schar and Lascelles but there are 11 players that will be out of contract) all leave for free then it will cost a lot to replace them before even addressing any other needs the team will have next summer.

There is still a long way to go to financially, but we will get there.

    Ashingtoon,
I think you’re misunderstanding the situation, for years only a select few have been able buy tickets and you could only go if you had mates in the right places, now everyone with an ST gets to go, the fact that BHA has gone down to as low as 10 points shows that those buying the tickets weren’t going anyway.

Exactly Raj, and that “select few” still have the first option of some of the tickets anyway. The old system was a closed shop and gave no hope to fans who did not have tons of loyalty points, or know a bloke who did.

    Ashingtoon,
Where’s the problem here, those with the required amount of points still get to go, I was getting tickets off lads with 100+ points, that was denying fans with those ten points or like simon376 with his 30 points, not everyone knows someone to get tickets off. We’ll still sell out and still have a travelling toon army.

Did Man City not go down to 30 points, that’s a full section who’ve been to 30 away games at least, that is not newbie support, possibly people who couldn’t get a chance to go previously because they’ve been selling out on 80 points allowing someone with zero points to go, this is totally fair imo.

I never said it was fair or unfair but TTT was pretty adamant that it wouldn’t make a difference.
Whereas I said it would make a huge difference ,and it would take a blind man on a galloping horse. to not notice the difference on Saturday..

The post below is from a couple of friends of mine who sing under the name of “Box o Frogs” I couldn’t resist reposing this from their page it made me laugh out very loud!

    Brilliant!

Ok so Andrew has just had another fishing call. Voice on the other end says hello I understand you’ve been involved in a car accident.
Andrew says oh yes I have
Voice says oh have you? Sounding surprised – strange as they allegedly already knew and that’s why they were calling – not!
Andrew says yes I had my arm chopped off
Voice on the other end after a long silent pause then said ok bye and hung up ha ha ha bless. Obviously didn’t know who they were dealing with Mr Box o’ Frogs

    Ashingtoon,
My point is simple. Different fans going to away games does not automatically mean worse fans, I don’t know why you cant see that. Do regularly go to away games? If you do have you now been prevented from doing so? If not but you went to an away game this season would you consider yourself unworthy of being there and sit in silence?

In general are you personally affected by this somehow in some way that you are not describing to us?

I am finding it increasing difficult to understand what your issue really is.

What exactly are you referring to with Boehly?

I recently said that the reason they don’t have a sponsor is cos he tried to agree two deals with companies that would not work (Paramount+ and then some betting company). That is true – you can easily check this.

I have said many other things about Boehly – usually that he is useless, can you be more specific please?

It makes you (or me anyway) think whether the S&C team are pushing the players too much to try and match us 🙂 can’t just increase workload without appropriate base load in place. Remember it took Gordon half a season to catch up to our fitness levels.

All I said was, that the demographics of the away support has shifted so dramatically, that it had to take away from the atmosphere.

You begged to differ, which is your right but please be man enough to admit.when you are wrong..
Thousands of strangers turning up to a shindig say, could it possibly be the same as thousands of regulars?

The Boehly thing, you said he was all ready to sign with Paramount+ but it fell foul of the EPL rules.Isn’t that a sleight on the CEO’s at Paramount, surely they know that Amazon own them and that Amazon are EPL stakeholders..

I agree that he’s Ted Lasso on steroids but I can’t believe that he was ready to sign off on te Paramount+ sponsorship.

What I find more likely is, that last season he thought “we are shit” lets pour a £Bn in,get CL next season and then secure a sponsor, similar to what Forest did last year..

Some suggestion in the press, that we could have easily got Tierney for the same money, but didn’t go in for him. That is interesting, if true, because, Tierney is 26, proven and ready to go, while Hall is a fine prospect no doubt, but 18 and with only a handful of EPL appearances under his belt. My best guess would be we liked Tierney, but Arsenal wanted a permanent deal, so we ultimately went with Hall, initiallly on loan, for FFP reasons, and perhaps injury concerns, but as I said, press suggesting we didn’t enquire. I’m not unhappy at all, but I do admit to liking Tierney.

You did not simply say that “the demographics would change” you basically said the atmosphere would be significant worse and that the media would call us out on this – it is not proven that you are correct about that and there is nothing in the actual media saying this.

On Boehly and Paramount+ of course the EPL would have an issue with it. They do not sell the rights to Sky and other across the globe without their being things in contracts that prevent teams from having rival TV companies on their shirts. Why do you think the Paramount + deal did not go through? There has to be a reason why it was blocked, so what is your theory?

    Sorry Ashingtoon,
I did not read the last paragraph – so your theory is that there was no deal with Paramount or Stake.com, that the media just made all that up (try googling it) and that Boehly thought it is better to have no sponsor at all for a year and see what happens.

    OK.
