    Seriously

Are you a northern version of TDS?

The Paramount deal never went through, cos it never existed…
Read my last post…To even suggest that Paramount were EVER at the table,is in your head (or other conspiracy theorists obviously) only..

They are owned by Amazon and you know it lol.
Are you saying that their CEO of sponsorship didn’t know that Amazon owned them OR he didn’t know of the conflict of interests.. 😆

There was no coverage of the shit support cos the numbers were there but just wait a few weeks until the eejit press cotton on and then scratch their heeds…

    Ashingtoon:

https://www.cityam.com/qa-why-premier-league-gave-chelseas-paramount-plus-sponsorship-the-red-card/ – read that. Here is an excerpt:

Why was Chelsea’s Paramount Plus deal blocked?
The first thing to make clear is that the Premier League did not have a decision to make – such agreements are simply prohibited by their rules.

All clubs in the division sign up to a Deed of Licence, which covers a range of matters relating to broadcasters and media.

This contract is confidential so the exact wording is not known, but Premier League sources confirmed that Chelsea’s proposed deal with Paramount Plus was always going to infringe it.

For context, it’s worth remembering that the Premier League’s chief source of income is the sale of its media rights to domestic and overseas broadcasters, so it is logical that there would be some protections for those important rights holders.

“The Premier League is a company limited by shares as each club is a shareholder and bound by the rules,” says Stephen Taylor Heath, head of sports law at JMW Solicitors.

“A further layer might be what is being referred to as the ‘Deed of Licence’ between the Premier League and the clubs and this is ultimately a legally binding agreement and a licence which sets out the legal basis on which one party’s legal rights may be utilised by another party.

I can find dozens of articles all saying that Chelsea did do a deal with the PL but the PL blocked it to back up what I am saying.

Wow – what a scary thought – a northern version of TDS.

Please do not even joke about this sort of thing, bloggers will be screaming and children crying if this materialised.

My God – I’ll have to go and check my pulse.

    Wor B,
Not from the fringe but here is one I heard recently..

A woman decides to have a facelift for her 50th birthday. She spends £15,000 and feels pretty good about the results.

On her way home, she stops at a newstand to buy a newspaper. Before leaving, she says to the seller, “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but how old do you think I am?”
“About 32,” is the reply. “Nope, I’m exactly 50,” the woman answered happily.

A little while later, she goes to McDonald’s and asks the counter girl the same question.
The girl replies, “I’d guess about 29.” The woman replies with a smile, “Nope, I’m 50.”

Now she is feeling really good about herself. She stops in a shop on her way down the street. She goes up to the counter to get some mints and asks the burning question.
The assistant responds, “Oh, I’d say 30.” Again, she proudly responds, “I’m 50, but thanks.”

While waiting for a bus to go home,, she asks an old man waiting next to her the same question. He replies, “Lady, I’m 78 and my eyesight is going. Although when I was young, there was a sure-fire way to tell a woman’s age. It sounds very forward, but it requires you to let me put my hands under your bra. Then and only then I can tell you EXACTLY how old you are.”

They wait in silence on the empty street until her curiosity gets the better of her. She finally blurts out, “What the heck, go ahead.” He slips both his hands under her blouse and begins to feel around very carefully, then bounces and weighs each breast, etc. After about two minutes of this, she says, “OK, Ok, how old am I?”

He completes one more squeeze of her breasts, removes his hands and says, “Madam,
    you are 50.”

Stunned and amazed, the woman says, “That was incredible, how could you tell?”…..The old man says,

“I was behind you in McDonald’s.”

Here is another one, but I was saving it for the Xmas bad jokes season:

I walked past a pet shop the other day there was a cat for sale in the window with a sign saying “Netherlands cat for sale”

I could not resist, so I went and asked “how Dutch is that moggy in the window?”

    I didn’t bring a coat.

Everton’s latest deal (to sell 25% of the club) has collapsed. They continue to look in trouble on pretty much every level. I am backing that this is the season they will get relegated.

Everyone could end up in the Championship , broke and with an incomplete stadium for sale.

    Makes Ashley look mildly competent.

In regard to Chelsea’s failed attempt to have Paramount as their shirt sponsor, it depends on your news source whether there is a pre-existing PL rule or not. Obviously such a deal will not be favourable to current liscensed broadcasters, but unlike the rule regarding betting, the decision to reject Chelsea’s choice of shirt sponsor only came to light when their application was made.

    OiNtbt,
I’m not sure, none of us are these days of how interested we were in Tierney, we didn’t make a formal bid or maybe, like you said they wouldn’t agree to a loan first buy later deal. It could be that they just thought BDB was good for another season or two at least and therefore LH is the perfect fit, if he lives up to his early promise then we’ve got our LB sorted for the next ten years and without the injury risk associated with KT.

Can you imagine in a season or two, TL and LH being the most formidable full backs in the country while Chlelsea have a pampered Reece James and Chillwell breaking down every few weeks, watching our two who’ve come from their academy.

On Everton, I read a while ago that Everton do not have the money to complete their stadium. Construction is on going but at a snail’s space.
The problem the have is that if the do not complete the stadium they have to return the land to it’s original condition which will cost as much as the construction.
They are desperately trying to raise finance.
Of course everyone will know this. Anyone buying in to the business will have to immediately help finance the stadium costs.
Everton like to paint a positive picture with the new stadium project but it is floundering.

    Ashingtoon,

Watching the match on Saturday I thought the atmosphere from the away fans was good, unless TNT piped in crowd noises.

Surely, “a bunch of strangers” argument is moot – SJP is full of “a bunch of strangers” every home game, and it has zero bearing on atmosphere, so why would away support be any different? If anything, strangers quickly become best pals when you’re sharing a few cans and a massive journey on a knackered old coach, so by the time the match starts everyone is in good spirits.

it’s the price you pay for doubling / trebling the cost of watching the game.

The prawn sandwich brigade are here to stay and as result the atmosphere will be slightly diminished because half of them don’t even know the songs and therefore very rarely contribute.

I think most most of them know “Toon toon black and white army” and STAND UP IF YOU LOVE THE TOON…STAND UP”…but you can see most of the time they’re not singing or getting it badly wrong.

shame…but I’d rather be where we are than where we were.

it’s been emotional…but one last hooray in this window and an absolute doozy to come in January which we’ve had to postpone due to FFP…but well worth the wait.

No doubt what I’ve just seen on twitter is rubbish, but if you passed CHAPS for this next year, just be out of this world. Apparently if we finish above Arsenal in top 4, next summer going for Saka, please make that CHAPS a priority
