Here Is Eddie Howe’s Press Conference In Full For Brentford Test

Here is Eddie Howe’s Press Conference for tomorrow’s home game against Brentford.

It would be great if we could get back to our winning ways after three defeats in a row after beating Aston Villa 5-1 in our first home game of the season.

We have just 3 points in our 4 games so far this season – hope we can make it 6 points after tomorrow’s game.

It looks like Sven Botman could be available, bnut it is probably too early for Sandro Tonali to play and we would expect Sean Longstaff to get his first start of the season.

Howay The Lads!!

    Ibiza,
The majority do think they should play a 3-5-2 but a vocal minority disagree.

On FCL sadly yes, the are still only 10 entrants so far. Hoping a few more will join as the CL excitement builds over the next couple of days.

    Dazzler,
Nice one, I see there are a couple of comments in their ticket thread (I didn’t look there initially) still not a very chatty bunch really.

Cheers TTT (Just an advanced apology, my predictive text really wants to call you TIT, so if it ever happens, it isn’t intentional…or maybe it will be :)), I can rest easy tonight now.

Even with 10, I suspect I may find a way to finish below 10th.

I think we might see Isak on the left, Wilson CF and Gordon RW tomorrow. If that’s the case, and it clicks, I think it won’t be long before Barnes nails down the LW spot, Gordon the RW spot and Isak and Wilson battle it out for CF.

From Eddie’s presser it sounds nailed on Longstaff will play if fit and one of Bruno, Jo or Tonali will miss out if he sticks with 433.

I don’t agree with Eddie, as I’ve posted before, that the mid three of Jo, Bruno and Tonali ‘worked a dream’ in the Villa game. Yes Tonali scored, and yes we won 5-1, but Villa walked and passed through our midfield a number of times and missed some easyish chances, especially in the first half, to make it a different game.

If Longstaff does well and becomes undroppable, where does that leave Tonali who surely was his upgrade? Do we play him as a more creative forward mid alongside Bruno and drop Jo or accommodate them all, perhaps in a 352?

I know we have to rotate, but we also need to know our best 11 and formation for the big games. I also know it’s early days with the new signings and it can be too easy to jump to the wrong conclusions after just four games.

This is where Eddie really proves just how good he is, and listening to his presser he reminds me yet again how intelligent and aware he is of the situation and his responsibilities.

It might take him a few more games yet to work it all out and, if it doesn’t work out in the next three or four games I still don’t think we should panic.

Sometimes you have to take a step or two back to go forward.

Our midfield 3 is Tonali,Bruno and Big Joe!

When they are all fit and have had time to gel, they will be awesome.

Those 3 did not play pre-season as a 3 together.

    Dubravka
    Trippier, Schar, Botman, Hall
    Longstaff, Bruno, Joelinton
    Gordon, Isak, Barnes

Yep Dubravka!! if Schar has another poor game then fan fav Lascelles starts the next game.

Sky taking the piss again for the away fans, majority who live in North East.
If it was ManTown or Scousers many live in London so just a short hop up the road.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle will still head south on Saturday, November 11 to play Bournemouth but the game has now been moved to a 5.30pm kick-off, rather than 3pm.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports

I think wor Eddie pushing for both an attacking LB and RB will prove it’s value at some point down the line.
Tripps is apparently keeping himself in great shape, doing all the right things, but he will break.
Similarly at LB, Burn might be needed at LCB and Target off form/knackered.
When you think about it we have the most progressive back-up options in both positions in the league.

Why is everyone hoying Big Joe in their teams,is he not injured anymore?

Also most of his better performances were LW last season.
I think Willock being unavailable has been a major factor in our poor start..
Him and Big Joe,interchanging and the understanding they built up,especially the second half of the season t’was a thing of beauty…

And whoever suggested Tripps LB and Livro RB… Yes please….

Sorry to pi55 on everyone’s chips, (I seriously don’t think we will mind) but if we lose a couple more out of the next four,Eddie will be in the doo doo..

Doesn’t matter if we are ahead of the curve,or if Amanda thinks the sun shines oota Eddies arse..
The Adidas deal is the clincher, this is where the pressure will come from..
Amanda’s 10% will have aboot as much clout as our memberships!

Ashingtoon – Big Joe is fit. Been away playing for Brazil.

Agree we have missed Willock, but yer concept of Eddie being under pressure just artificially builds it from outside the club.

Inside the club he is the man and will be supported all year. Shape Up and join the more realistic bunch of fans who understand how brilliant Eddie has been.

Two bad results and he’s under pressure. Madness

Back end of last season other teams worked out how to play against us – down the left against Dan Burn. That’s why we eventually finished 4th instead of 3rd. The most important thing EH need to do is to address this weakness.

I have absolutely no clue whatsoever what the team tomorrow will be! The only 3 I expect to start are Pope, Botman, and Schar but there are question marks in all other positions I’d say.

I suspect Trips will start for his leadership but I’m not convinced. The midfield 3 and front 3 could be virtually any combination!
