Wilson Scores Penalty To Give Newcastle A Much Needed Win Against Brentford

Newcastle ended their three-game losing streak this afternoon with a 1-0 win over Brentford at home with the winner coming from Wilson with a penalty after 64 minutes.

While it certainly wasn’t pretty, the result in this game was more important than the performance, and our lads stuck to it to get our second win of the season.

Newcastle did not look good at all in the first half – but it was much better in the second, and this win will give our boys confidence going forward.

And 9 minutes of added time at the end was a little nerve-racking.

Indeed, in qn earlier game today, Spurs were losing 1-0 at home to Sheffield United before they scored two goals in the 20 minutes of added time to win 2-1 – what’s going on here?

We now have 6 points from 5 games – the same number of points as last season after 5 games.

And here is the photo we get with every win – the lads look very pleased!

๐Ÿ™‚

Here are the video highlights of the game today from NBC Sports.

And in detail here is the penalty award that gave Newcastle all 3 points – dare I say this looks like a soft penalty for us?

But Callum has nerves of steel and it was an excellent penalty, under so much pressure.

And on merit Newcastle did deserve the points, but we were nowhere near our best.

Let us know who you think our Man of the Match was.

Sounds like a disgusting cowardly attack on one of our fans………. Brings back memories of twenty years ago when one of our lads was kicked unconscious after trying to make his way back to the hotel a bit worse for wear…
Soured what was an unforgettable trip with thousands of Geordies in the main square with bags of cans after they closed all the bars for us….

Luckily the lad made a full recovery after being in a coma for a while but he was damned lucky and we feared for his health….

You’d think after so much repeated and constant attacks/violence each year for fans that travel there, more restrictions would be in place. Like designated fan zones with a police presence, dedicated taxi service from these fan zones to local accommodation places for safe travelling back, or even if a curfew (would suck I know) if that means travelling at a safer time.

Doesn’t sound like police help much out there though. Something needs changing.

Let’s raise a glass and raise a smile
We haven’t had Champions League in a while
To all those Geordie’s out there in Milan
Try to enjoy the culture as well if you can

It’s a beautiful place, much like the Toon
Just a little bit warmer and more run doon
You should take some time to see the sights
Before experiencing (I hope) one of those magical nights

Before you head to the San Siro
Treat yourself to a visit to the Duomo
Or get yersel off to the Da Vinci museum
He’s done some canny good works, if you’d like to see ’em

And the eateries there are amongst the best
Get some authentic spaghetti slopped doon yer vest
But don’t try looking for Mackems, there’s none there to see
The closest you’ll find might be EGB!
    .
    .
    .

    .
Apologies Bill, that’s my last Mackem dig
Or I’ll end up like Tuffers with Peppa the Pig!

Always in good fettle thanks mate. Very sad and unfortunate to hear a Toon fan has been stabbed in Milan, lets hope there is no more of that nonsense WLtoon.

On tonight`s result, i think it will be a 1-1 draw, and i would be very happy with a draw mate as AC Milan are seasoned campaigner`s of playing in European competitions every year WLtoon.

If all the teams in the group of death win their home games, the qualifying position rely on the number of goals scored. Therefore a draw away from home becomes very important, but Howe has declared previously that he only ever plays to win. I wonder if the safer option will part of his consideration tonight. Or, will it be the more entertaining only a win will do.
