Newcastle Want Top English Player In January – Would Be A Great Signing For Us

There has been news over the last few days that Newcastle want to sign Arsenal’s English player Emile Smith-Rowe, who gets precious little playing time as a midfielder at Arsenal.

That’s even though the Croydon-born player has played for every England youth side from U16 and currently has 3 full caps for England.

The 23-year-old has spent his entire career at the Gunners, having signed back when he was only 10 years old in 2010.

it’s not the first time we have been linked with the player and he seems like a perfect match for Eddie Howe, who can make him a much better player than he is now.

There’s not much doubt about that.

This time it’s the Mirror reporting Newcastle would like to sign Smith-Rowe in January.

But the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, not only drinks far too much coffee before games, but he is also difficult to negotiate with to get one of his players.

In the last five years, Smith-Rowe has played 102 times for Arsenal with 18 goals and 11 assists.

Even those figures show Smith-Rowe can score goals and provide assists.

He can play in central midfield or as a left-side attacking midfielder and is a versatile player.

We don’t see things changing at Arsenal much, since they have Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira as attacking midfielders.

And since we are now competing on all four fronts this season, it would be great to get a couple of top players in during January and maybe one or two younger players as well.

But how much we can spend will have to abide by the Financial Fair Play rules.

We like Emile Smith-Rowe a lot, and think he would be an excellent signing for Newcastle.

What do you think?

Comments are always welcome.

If we could get him playing as he was when he first broke onto the scene properly, he’d be a good addition. Howe can probably get him back to that and then get even more out of him.

All depends on price, can imagine Arsenal wanting a lot but at this point in time I don’t think he’s worth more than £20m.

On the gambling thing… To me, this is where a collegiate system would probably help. Kids taught while training, lower league clubs are feeder clubs, so get proper miney/facilities. Get a draft system, best players don’t get lost, they learn about finance management, tv, everything plus how to grow up in the public eye, and fall back education for if they don’t make the grade.
Might find less problematic behaviour later. Better all round for everything/one/clubs/society.

    Ok…carry on!

There’s definitely a player in there, Ed, based on his earlier form. If Eddie likes him, then fair enough!

If they don’t want him, he’s worth what you say. If Eddie wanted him…i sense a gouge coming on… therefore, Fat Na!

I hope Tonali comes clean with Eddie and the club releases a statement so we can all move on. Forward and upward as someone says on this blog.

He only played about 20 games a season over 5 years if you split it up yes he can score goal which is a plus and 20 million would be about right.
