Eddie Howe Opens Up About Wolves Game And Tonali – I Am Very Proud Of My Players

Eddie Howe has opened up a little, about yesterday’s game.

It was difficult for Newcastle because we were coming off a difficult game against Dortmund last Wednesday night, which we lost in stormy weather conditions.

It was similar weather yesterday when it rained heavily the whole game.

But as usual, Eddie Howe looks forward positively, but we also know things will be difficult before the international break, which starts on the week of 11th November.

Before then we have Manchester United away in the League Cup this coming Wednesday, November 1st, Arsenal at home the following Saturday,  Dortmund away the following Tuesday night, and then Bournemouth at home the following Saturday – Nov 11th.

It’s a hectic schedule alright, with too many players out injured – Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman, and Lewis Miley.

Here’s what Eddie Howe said after the 2-2 draw at Molineux:

“I’m very proud of the players, the effort the players gave physically to the game. Again, the same conditions from Wednesday against Dortmund, create a different game.”

“I thought it was a really good game, I thought we played well, I thought Wolves played well; it was a really good game between two good teams.””

“We took the lead so it was frustrating not to get the three points, but I can’t praise the players enough.” “I think it’s been a difficult week for us, a Champions League game which I think we lost harshly.”

“The Sandro situation is a difficult one to take for the group. because we lost an outstanding player for a long period, and the injuries we picked up against Dortmund made it a difficult week.”

“We could have come to Wolves and made it very easy to feel sorry for ourselves but the players here don’t know that way, and they played with a lot of heart.”

“I don’t think the conditions affected us negatively; I just think it is a different game, both teams have to deal with it but I think off the back of Wednesday where it was exactly the same, it is fatiguing weather for us.”

“I think the options on the bench was the difficult part, where we wanted to bring on fresh legs, the difficult part of making substitutions today was bringing players on in their best position.”

“The speed of that game was so quick, it was in the balance and I have got to be careful I do not make changes that unbalance us.

“I was very wary of that.”  “I cannot be more proud of them”

“We have to come closer together and show the spirit we have, since I have been here, it is never easy and this is a huge challenge for us this season, and the players are responding brilliantly to that.”

“I cannot be more proud of them in these difficult circumstances with the injuries we have got at the minute, a lot of them are not short term, which means you have not got the positive news (even) on the horizon.”

“We have to go again with the same group, but I think we are good enough to do it,”

“Wilson’s two finishes were excellent, especially the first, he probably could have had a hat-trick as well but he took his penalty well so it was another good afternoon for Callum.”

It’s going to be a very tough 4 games coming up before the 2-week International break.

But we must do our best to win as many games as possible before a two-week rest – but it’s only for those players who don’t go out on International duty.

    Repost.

As far as I could tell, Murphy dislocated his shoulder.

Surely, this just gets “popped” back in and after a bit of physio, he’s OK to play?

It’ll be sore for a week or 2, but not so bad that he can’t get a pain killing injection and play?

We can’t afford for him to be missing, so get him out there. We really mollycoddle footballers these days! ?

Happy with the point yesterday, its been a busy week at the Toon and we won`t or can`t win em all.
No doubt some posters will be whining on that we didn`t do this and that and some players were below par blah blah blah but even the best teams on the planet have off days. Im not suggesting we are the best team on the planet by the way, we are not, yet.
Wilson may have scored both goals but my MOTM was Schar by an absolute street. He was outstanding and is getting better with age.

Forgot to mention the Pope punch that led to a goal, im not as tall as our keeper but even i would of caught that cross.
We got lucky with our penalty, if it had been against us im sure the majority of Toon fans would of been well pi^^ed off. Soft as shite really.
It won`t be long before the game will be a non contact sport, then it will boring as foot.

Undefeated in 7 games in the best lge on the planet isn`t too shabby , i think some fans should remember that.
Once again i haven`t read last nights posts, i don`t need to, it`s the same old shite when the Toon don`t win, so predictable.
I`d hate to see what life would be like if we had a team in the champo, poor souls would be jumping off the bridge.

Afternoon mate, i thought it was a brilliant game last night with both teams going all out for the win. For me it was a really good point mate as Wolves are in a rich vein of form lately, and very recently beat Man City and drew away to Villa, the lads were understandably exhausted after their endeavors again Dortmund!! When you weigh it all up Wltoon it was definitely a very credible performance and result mate HWTL

If Wolves hadn’t of scored from Pope’s error they would have scored anyway, we were shattered, we were trying to buy time before they scored. If Neto hadn’t of pulled his hamstring we would have lost that game.

    magicmac54,
I like to see a manager who has been wronged do well, seeing that new Bmouth manager interviewed, dear me, he does not fill you full of confidence, Bmouth owners must be feeling pretty stupid now. However I saw O’Neil interviewed yesterday and he came across as very arrogant, not very gracious at all.

“With only Joe Willock as a genuine attacking option among the nine substitutes named due to injury and suspension, United continued unchanged after the break as the sides took turns to attack each other”
    Who was suspended?

    Magicmac,

Totally agree mate, some fans are totally blinkered when it comes to predicting a result of a game, they totally ignore the teams coming up against us and their quality, its as though they think we are invincible.
Wolves will be decent this season and will upset a lot of teams. i predicted a draw and that`s what we got , im happy with a point down there mate.
Anyway my friend , i am off oot on the lash ,ile take in a couple of games while the amber nectar is flowing and im hoping the blue half of Manchester takes the red half to the footin cleaners.
    Up the Arabs haha.

To be honest Raj, i didn`t think it was an error from Pope as the lad got great length on the punch and got it well up the pitch mate, i would rather attribute great credit to that Wolves lad from South Korea who scored an absolutely fantastic goal!! and he has that skillset in his locker as i`ve seen him do it many times for Wolves in the past mate.

    magicmac54,
Some will see it as an error and some won’t, as from my posts earlier I’d prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt and blame the weather conditions. I guess I used the word error because it led to a a goal.

    Ronway,
“The unusual start time was agreed following consultation between the clubs, the broadcaster and local authorities.”

It’s in The Athletic so got long enough to read to minimise trouble between the two sets of fans, so why wasn’t it on at 12:00 then, because that wouldn’t have suited SKY is why.

I think with all our injuries, some long term, lack of attacking players – we are going to have a torrid couple of months up to the January window.
So I expect a lot of disappointing games.

I do not want to be a doom mongerer but that is the way I think the oncoming period may evolve.

Will we get new signing in January – which is probably not the best time (generally) to get players?

I understand some people will see it differently in reference to the Nick Pope incident, for my part i honestly don`t think his punch led directly to the goal by virtue of the fact he got really good distance on his punch up the field!! i would rather give credit to the Wolves lad who has incredible skill and vision, and has a neck for scoring incredible goals mate.
