At Last Some Good News On The Newcastle Injury Front – 2 Injured Players Fit For Saturday – 2 More Possible

There’s some good news doing the rounds today on the injury front and it’s from the Mail’s Craig Hope on his Twitter (X) account

Here’s the Tweet from Craig that’s caused some good news to finally circulate on Newcastle’s injury plight before we play Chelsea at home next Saturday against Chelsea 3:00pm KO.

Two players – Alexander Isak, and Miggy Almiron will be fit for the home game against Chelsea and we have to think Sean Longstaff has a good chance of being fit.

And of course, Bruno Guimaraes is available after serving his one-match ban against Bournemouth for picking up 5 yellow cards.

Longstaff had a swollen ankle and Miggy Almiron was taken off at Bournemouth after suffering a grade 1 hamstring injury,  but at least the experienced 53 times-capped Paraguayan International will be fit for Saturday.

It will also be good to have the talented and impressive Alexander Isak back in the front three.

We are also hoping that Fabian Schar is fit to play on Saturday, after missing Switzerland’s 1-1 with Kosovo, and Longtsaff hopefully has a decent chance to be in the starting lineup on Saturday.

The other very good news is that Sven Botman’s knee injury is now responding to treatment – finally!

If that continues and there is no swelling, it will mean he will not need an operation and therefore could be back much sooner than if surgery is needed.

The Premier League injury site has Sven’s return date down as 2nd December, that’s two weeks on Saturday.

We haven’t had much good news on the injury front recently, but this is some good news and hopefully, more of our injured players will soon be returning.

Comments welcome.

mctoon, your U21 plan wouldn’t work sadly. Foreign leagues would simply hoover them up. I do wonder though if an enduring sell on clause could be inserted so that the lower league clubs benefit more. I’m not sure how workable or even legal that is.

    AGM
    I agree you’ve got a point there regarding U21’s.
At the moment though, with the monetary power of the EPL, do we not hoover up a lot of theirs?
Maybe we could come to a mutual agreement that serves all?
At least with the European clubs.

It’s all just musings, the current ‘entitled’ legacy clubs would fight it to the death.
The lower end EPL clubs would be more concerned of the possibility of increased competition from the more ambitious lower league sides.

    AND

The EPL governing body itself would fight hard against any shortening of the gap between itself and the lower leagues.

    Elitism is hard to break.

TDS @ 73, sorry mate but you are wrong on this. If you’ve already legally established that a rule is uncompetitive and they then refuse to register players instead, you can then sue again for restraint of trade and ask for punitive damages.

Just think of what would have happened if they’d refused to register a transfering player after Bosman.

I would never in a million years have thought that after all these years Ed’s blog would be at the centre of an international spy ring. International and domestic issues solved by the new blog hero Sir Pug (previously known as the Butch Dulldog).

I bet he has one of those Delorean cars , with the gull wing doors and machine guns behind the headlights.
He is now probably reporting to “M” what his enquiries have revealed so far.

    Isak to the rescue

Nothing can paper over the cracks like good finishing and creating your own chances.

Wilson has been shocking in his last few games.

Even when he was scoring just before that he was the weak link in the build-up.

mctoon, yes we do. In Europe their is more competition but Arsenal saw an opportunity in Africa and we seem to be pursuing the South American angle. I have no problems with that providing the foreign clubs are properly compensated, especially if someone turns into a superstar. How that happens, I have no idea.

I too, hope Isak can play a part at Chelsea. I think it will be from the bench though. #fingers crossed.

Sing…To be honest I don’t really know mate, however maybe getting advice from medical/addiction experts about any punishments would be a good start. I just don’t think giving an addict more free time is the best idea. No doubt he’ll be getting some help but maybe a residential treatment at an addiction centre would be an idea. Also maybe something like 50% of his salary whilst suspended given to an addiction charity. Other than that I don’t know, it seems to me though that the biggest punishment is to NUFC and the fans. Under the current rules though I guess all parties just have to suck it up.

John J…I’m sure I read he was on full pay but apologies if wrong. Even if he was only getting 10% he’d probably still be getting 10k a week for not playing footy.

AGM… Yeah, agree mate. Not many businesses where an owner can’t put in what he wants but unfortunately the EPL is a private club pretty much and you have to sign up to say you’ll abide by their rules so much as I’d love to see a legal challenge I doubt it’ll happen. Bringing in these temporary rules mid season to stop us “might” be a different kettle of fish though, so…

    Robby Bobson,

I agree Isak’s a different player at another level.

But For me, that’s also a little harsh on Callum Wilson.
With better service, IMV Wilson’s capable of leading the line and scoring goals against anyone.
I think we’re blessed to have both when fit.

And there lies the only problem for me …
Wilson’s body just can’t seem to handle the rigours of regular football any more.
Plus playing Eddie’s high tempo pressing game from the front, only serves to put more strain on his fitness.

It’s a real dilemma for Eddie and the club.
He’ll be moved on / replaced I guess when and if FFP allows.

It’s all about opinions mate and I appreciate yours.

Who cares about 1-day cricket when we’ve got Paul Dummetts’s slide tackles on the horizon.

Re this castration (not actually) of the nuisance, I would sincerely hope that if he/she/they does have some sort of mental illness, that there is no permanent lasting harm caused.

As I have said before he/she/they is more to be pitied than harmed, the multi alt on the very rare occasion come out with some sensible comments, if only he/she/they could stick to doing that there would not be a problem.

Sadly he/she/they does not seem to get the message.

I don’t think we have too much to complain about regarding FFP. I want Newcastle’s on field performance to be a reflection of the strength and unity of the fan base and how well the club is run, not the wealth of the owners. Two years into new ownership we are in the CL, while Liverpool are not, and have a better performing side than Man U and Chelsea. I think it’s fine, but it must of course hold those to who break the rules to account.
