It seems that Dan Ashworth and his recruitment staff are doing a lot of work before the January transfer window opens, to ensure at least three new players come into the club to help out with the many games we have this season.
We have 10 players out with injuries right now but we reported yesterday that maybe four of those players could return against Chelsea on Saturday.
With the FFP situation Newcastle may want to bring only loan players in during the January window with maybe an option or an obligation to buy, so we don’t have to spend a lot of money in January.
We must keep within the FFP rules which we see Everton haven’t done, and both Chelsea and Manchester City have also been charged with not keeping within FFP rules.
Everton got a 10-point deduction for one charge that was proven and Manchester City have been charged with 115 charges of not keeping within the FFP rules.
We face Paris Saint Germaine in the Champions League on Tuesday 28th November – that’s a week tomorrow.
And it looks like we need a win in that game to keep our hopes alive of qualifying for the knockout rounds.
UEFA Champions League Group F
Team | Played | Won | Lost | Drawn | GD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dortmund | 6 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 11 |
PSG | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 8 |
AC Milan | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | -3 | 8 |
Newcastle | 6 | 1 | 3 | 2 | -1 | 5 |
The news today is that Newcastle have rekindled their interest in striker Hugo Ekitike, who we were interested in early last year, but the youngster decided to join PSG instead in 2022.
But things have not gone well for the talented striker who stands 6ft 2ins tall and is still only 21 years old.
He was on loan in Paris for the 2022-2023 season and he played 32 games with 4 goals and 4 assists and the deal was made permanent in the summer for €28.5M plus €6.5M in bonuses.
It’s unlikely PSG will have to pay the bonuses since this season he has played only once for the side.
€28.5M is about £25M so that should be the most Newcastle will pay for the player in any permanent deal.
Newcastle want to negotiate a loan deal for Ekitike for a January move, with it possibly becoming permanent in the summer.
That’s what the Northern Echo are reporting – that Ekitike is again on Newcastle’s radar screen with a January loan deal with an option to buy next summer.
We have to believe that Eddie Howe still sees a good player in the 21-year-old, and as we all know Howe can resurrect players’ careers, which he has done with so many players at Newcastle.
This could be a good deal for Newcastle and a safe one because if he doesn’t perform tjis season on loan we don’t have to buy him next summer.
What do you think about this potential deal?

Comment #21If NUFC are indeed after Ekitike then I’ll be all for it. How accurate are the claims though I wonder? We will see but ones things for sure we will most definitely be bringing in an up and coming striker and I believe Ekitike being managed by Eddie would be just the player we need. Isak would work really well with him and bring him in as they are both of the same type of player. We shall see

I see you took a swipe at Kompany yesterday for trying to get Burnley to ”play football”. Sorry I jut don’t get that. Surely in this day and age of playing it from the back instead of route 1 hoofball and getting it down and passing it is to be admired and encouraged.
Burnley were perennial bottom feeders under Dyche playing the most god awful stuff. Yes they just about survived most years but they were hideous to watch and you wouldn’t pay money to see them.
Kompany is an ambitious up and comer who probably has designs on higher things but which top half club would approach him if he morphed into a Basset / Warnock / Allardyce/ Pulis type who should all have been done for crimes against football.
I don’t see it as arrogant trying to play decent easy on the eye football. They’re the principles any aspiring coach should have.

I don’t think the troll has the wit to invent someone like Trequartista. Treq as far as I know, has not personally insulted anyone’s family, religion, sexuality, hygiene etc etc.

Comment #25Fatman to Chalfont you fat waste of space we need a striker ready to hit ground running. Not these young uns who need 6 months to get up to speed with Eddies training and methods. Ivan Toney is a good shout but when does his ban end? Personally id ask Milan for Giroud for 6 months loan or Alvaro Morata from Atletico.

On Kompany, as I said, no good having principles when your team is getting humped by three goals every week, it’s pure vanity.

Comment #28Arsenal don’t want Nevez…they’re just putting in a fake bid to push up the price we’ll end up paying because there’s no way a PIF owned club would allow Nevez to go to a competitor.
Arsenal know we can’t get him loan, so we’ll have to buy him. If we buy him we’ll have pay close to the 47 million wolves got him because it won’t be easy to even get the outright buy past the PL if he’s bought for less than 47 million.
Arsenal will say they bid 60 for him so why did he end up at Newcastle for 45?
Sleazy cnuts…they’ve treated us with total contempt from the get go…payback time just round the corner

Comment #29We’ll get three players in this window
one defender. A great prospect who could start every week once coached by Eddie for 3 months
one midfielder (world class) ;). let’s not go there!
one striker…a proper one…not a future prospect…who can start tomorrow if required

Comment #34If Arsenal do that we can just call their bluff.
We bid £30m and they big £60m so they can point the finger at us and say how is that fair market value?
Fine, let them pay £60m for him. Now they’ve spent £60m just to try spite us and have a player they don’t need or probably want.
Or, we say fine, you can buy him for £60m. At which point they’ll say no. So then we just go back and bid again and say well they could have bought him but decided not to, so we went and got him.
Job done.
