Report: PL Clubs Vote Against A Ban On Loan Deals Between Clubs With The Same Owners

The Athletic is reporting this afternoon that the vote today on whether to fast-track a ban on clubs who have the same owners loaning players between those clubs – has failed.

They report that 2/3 or more of the 20 clubs had to vote yes on the proposal and it looks like only 13 did – which is below the 66.6% – in fact, it’s 65%.

One vote short, 13-7 so it was close.

I wonder if the top six clubs and Newcastle were the 7 who voted against the ban?

This was a fast-track proposal so it doesn’t say it will not be passed for the summer transfer window – but it’s allowed in the upcoming January transfer window.

It was a fast-tracked proposal because presumably, the Premier League wanted to stop a loan of Ruben Neves from Al Hilal to Newcastle, as a replacement for the banned Sandro Tonali.

That was proposed as a possible loan deal Newcastle could do in the winter transfer window.

That was being heavily publicized at the time the fast-track ban was proposed by the Premier League.

This is an extract foprmt he Athletic report:

The vote at the meeting at The Churchill Hotel in Portman Square, London on Tuesday required at least a two-thirds majority (14 clubs) for the amended regulation to be adopted.

However, while the majority of clubs (13) were in favour of the proposal, it did not gain enough support to pass the required threshold and the rules will remain as they are ahead of the winter window.

Maybe rather than trying to stop Newcastle becoming a top club in England and Europe, they should be fast-tracking the 115 instances where Manchester City have been accused of violating the Financial Fair Play rules.

There is a strange relationship between the top six clubs and the Premier League.

How Will Newcastle Fare At Home To Chelsea?

Great news about the vote today, for once something has gone in our favour.
I told a pal yesterday that i think it will be blocked, and it has.
I would take Benzema and Neves on loan for starters, though i wouldn`t buy either.
You can bet your bottom dollar that FSG and Levy wanted that loan ban put in place, it was them fookers who tried to get our TO stopped.
    They must be gutted haha.

Wow fantastic news, I wonder who’ll we get, in January.
WOW FANTASTIC NEWS ABOUT THE VOTE
    On another note.
Can we please please stop slagging off people who vote right or left.
We all have our own beliefs. Some of the things being said are horrific.
We live in a democratic country, and no matter who is in power we should try to get along, at least on the blog.
Let’s try to keep Ed’s blog respectful.

Ye know i love cold water, and as brilliant as this result is and its great to see some clubs clearly want a change at the top.

It is still my opinion that there is no way on gods green earth that the saudis will sacrifice their own teams and put Newcastle first by just giving us some of their starting players. It would also look absolutely terrible to their fans..imagine getting excited signing a player only for them to then loan him out to Newcastle.

I think this was all paper talk and the vote was just a precaution to guarantee we dont do it. I can definitely see us getting players who arent needed or dont get game time, but those wont be players we’d want and i just cant see important first team players like Neves being allowed go on loan to Newcastle.

If im wrong im wrong and that would be a brilliant result but im telling ye all now ye a bonkers if ye think loans like Neves will happen. I pray im wrong but common sense is a bastard that ruins everyones fun lol.

So are to think that 4 of these clubs voted against their own best interests ?
The list doesnt look right ?
Surely ManU now have affiliation with Nice because of their new investor ?

Which Premier League clubs have affiliations with other teams?
    Newcastle United
    Manchester City
    Chelsea
    Brighton
    Crystal Palace
    Arsenal
    Aston Villa
    West Ham
    Nottingham Forest
    Bournemouth

Neves is apparently settled into Saudi life so is unlikely to want to make a move back to the UK.

The money he’s on, the sunshine, the adoration of a few hundred Saudi fans, the easy life by the pool, no intensity in matches ….but then again there’s the lure of playing for the best club in the world.

    Decisions, decisions.

    Could all be a smokescreen.
    Mbappe it is then

I said not long ago that I hoped the other clubs outside the pack would vote against but seeing how things have went I thought it would be another rule changed to hinder our progress. Delighted to see its not the case and two fingers up to the twunts who voted for.

Mund if were still able to do it in a few years time and they have a weslth of players not getting gsme time who also happen to be up to our standard, then i can absolutely see that happening. But i cant for the life of me see 1st team starting pksyers being sacrificed for Newcastle, i just cant see it happening. Im so sure of it id bet money on it.

But IF it does happen id absolutely love to see it, it just doesnt make logical sense. Personally i think its media driven nonsense. Howe also ssid Neves is a player he admires and would love to have but that means nothing really. Mbappe is also a player he im sure afmires amd wpuld love to have.

If im wrong ill be the happiest lad in kilkenny, because i worry loams are the only way were going to afford any decent players this window. I really dont think wrre going to have much cash to play with this window especially considering we have Hall on the never never and have to shell out 35M for him in May before we even buy anyone. The adidas deal will help massively in the summer though. So i rekon it wont be as tight then.

    Bad news for Everton:

“The same independent panel that docked Everton 10 points for breaching Premier League financial rules will decide on any financial compensation claims from rival clubs.”

The head honcho already said the club’s have a valid case against them.

We know our progress will be made as slow as possible by the financial rules, but we will eventually get there due to progressive income increases. In the meanwhile, we can speed things up by the now-not-forbidden Saudi connection, through which something positive will definitely happen in January – sorry, Irish Rob, I think we’ll have to diverge on this one, mate.

9 theres no right or wrong answers on this one mate its all just opinons. You could be proved completely right, we will just have to wait and see. I personally just cabt see them devaluing their own clubs by giving us their best players and basically telling their own fans to deal with it. But if im wrong its party time. We really need the boost it would give us.

Forget Neves. I think Jota, U21 goal scoring winger for Portugal, ex Celtic, £25m to Saudi can’t get a game as they over-bought, too many overseas signings. Huge potential. Only issue, is a winger our priority at THIS moment?

Loan to buy on Jota. Fair market value? He was bought for £25m but hasn’t played much, so I think £22m can’t be challenged. As an aside, Phillips at Man City, how can they demand more than they paid given he hasn’t paid?

It’s one thing Neves saying he is settled in Saudi. But the question is quite different if we are still in the Champions League in January, because then we’d be offering him a different type of challenge.
Let’s see. But please, please…I really hope that all this Phillips talk is just a distraction from our real targets.

It is truly awful what is happening to this Blog.

Its lovely founder is in the final stages of a terminal illness. He fights on and manages to summon up the will, strength and character to post articles for many other good people to read and comment upon…. but all this is being destroyed in a way.

We are all suffering from a different kind of cancer, a malignant tumour on the blog. A horrible, shameless w***er that sees fit to do whatever it is he thinks he is accomplishing – which is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

When the server eventually shuts down this awful “person” will be all alone and all his posts will be eradicated.

He will try to infect somewhere else I suspect, but he will make no friends.
