Update On Joe Willock’s Tragic Recurrence Of His Achilles Heel Injury

The Chronicle has a report on Joe Willock, who injured his Achilles heel again in training yesterday.

Our heart goes out to Joe, who has been having a nightmare with injuries since the summer.

Eddie Howe was delighted with Newcastle’s 4-1 win against Chelsea today, but the head coach became solemn when asked about Willock’s new injury.

When Joe picked up a hamstring injury at the end of last season it was the first long-term injury he had experienced in his career.

And before the initial hamstring strain fully healed, he picked up an Achilles heel injury and it looks like that has gone again yesterday: he is to see a specialist to ascertain the extent of the injury.

Joe has just been interviewed last week and he said how difficult it has been for him being out injured for so long, and now he’s injured again.

And of course, Willock will play no part in our important Champions League game on Tuesday night at PSG.

This is what Eddie Howe had to say about Joe’s new  injury after the game this afternoon:

“It looks like a recurrence of an Achilles injury that he had a few weeks ago. It’s a massive blow for us.”

“We don’t know how long he’s going to be out, we’re going to have to seek specialist advice, but it’s a huge blow for us.”

“I’m sure it has happened before, but I’ve personally not been involved in anything like this. It just seems every way we turn, we’re picking up another injury.”

“Naturally, he’s very down, but in saying that he’s calm at the same time, he’s not emotional or irrational.”

“He’s seeing it for what it is. We don’t know the extent of it at this moment in time, we’ll do everything we can to get him back on the pitch as quickly as possible.”

We now have 9 first team players out injured with Sandro Tonali banned for the season.

More negative news (as if we needed it) is that Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie aren’t registered to play in Europe.

We are certainly having a rough season with injuries, but we have to keep moving forward.

And this may become a huge opportunity for 17-year-old Lewis Miley who looked terrific today in central midfield – what a player this lad can become at Newcastle.

We will end this article with empathy and sympathy for Joe Willock and we will support him through what is turning out to be a nightmare season for him.

Mauricio Pochettino tears into his Chelsea team…

“We were soft in every single challenge. We did not compete. We did not show we were playing for something important. We need to show more personality & character. This makes me very, very, very, very angry” #cfc

LMAO, you’ve just been Eddie Howed Poch and been beaten by the greatest Newcastle United team the world has ever seen.

Top win today against a Chelsea side which, before the international break, was starting to look very good, but with Willock out injured, we are down to the bare bones.

Well done to all the lads on the field today, superb second half performance when you consider we are down to our bare bones.
Their bench cost 220M, ours cost peanuts yet we looked like the squad who had spent a billion quid on players.
Yeah that`s right, Nufc ruining the game bcos they are flashing the dosh haha, don`t make me laugh.

Young Miley, well done son, at 17 year old you were head and shoulders above the prima donna`s donning the Chelsea shirts, including a so called England international who many of the Toon fans wanted, Connor Gallagher.
    Bruno MOTM followed by Gordon.

Eddie doesn’t have that mindset, he’s happy to beat the opposition and not take the piss out of them.

Another whingey faced manager not giving us any credit even though we put FOUR past them with half our squad out injured, these big name manager make me spew tbh, sore sore losers.

Hey Poch, if we were nowt special as you claim, then how bad are you lot.

Two more mentions. Dedicated to the moaners. Not you, the other guy. Yes, you! 😉

Pope don’t pass too well? Did you miss his amazing save? That kept us in the game! Say it with me: He. Is, the, best. Keeper, we’ve. EVER, had. :).

Joel. Misses a sitter… Get rid! We must upgrade! Etc! The man never shies away, never hides. Just knew he would score. Well done my lad.

I said two more mentions, ok, three.

Monsieur Lascelles, after your couple of errors I was thinking, yep, he’s back, upgrade, etc, etc. Hats off for your second half performance, you started the onslaught. And apologies for doubting you big man.

there were several worrying moments when it looked like some of our lads took bad knocks and Trips looked as if he might have hurt his hand and was soldering on despite it.

Hopefully nowt too serious with any of them and they are all fit for the France game.

Went for Gordon for MOM but I thought Miggy had a brilliant game as well, I do wonder why so many say he is too predictable, he possibly is but in a damn good way. Never stops running and always available for a pass and.sets an example to the rest of the players.

I said earlier that I thought Gordon seemed to go down easy for the sending off. Just watched the highlights and I’ve changed my opinion as it looks like James caught his ankles/legs. Plus James didn’t protest at all so he must have known what he did.

At the risk of sounding disappointed I lost the stream at 85 minutes and fully expected to see a final result of 5 or 6 – 1 later with extra time added on but never mind 4-1 will do! 🙂

Big Joe needs to CALM DOON could easily got a red for close lining James
    My men of the match
Livamento – class on and off the ball seems to sniff out danger
Miley – class today for a young kid who cost nowt – bossed their millionaires and what a ball to slip in Isak

For Willock is his heel injury on the same leg as his hamstring injury.
Maybe a weakened hamstring and not enough rehab has caused the heel injury ?

Good video, Alice said that Chelsea fans will be ruing that they passed up on the chance of getting Gordon and they must be wishing they had him, I reckon every other team in the EPL must wish they had him and if Southgate don’t take him to the WC they he needs a trip to Specsavers! 🙂

Havertz shouldn’t have been playing today to get Arsenal’s winner. He should have been serving a three match ban.
Daresay Arteta forgot that in his match interview

7 points off and our hardest match out of next 6 EPL is Spurs away who play a very high line.

    Man u

Fingers crossed we close that 7 point gap but Im confident.

Have a good second half of season like when Eddie first came and we could win the league.

    Sounds sexy like me 😀

Eddie Howe working wonders once again.

So proud to look at that squad knowing that everyone of them will give their all for the team and for the great man Howe. Never in my life have I seen a squad and club so together in what we are trying to achieve. It’s beautiful to see.

Eddie has given us some big wins this season all ready with so much more to come. Starting with a huge game vs PSG were I hope we can give ourselves some light to believe in with our remainder vs AC

What can we say about the boy wonder Miley…? Well a lot tbh eh…

17 and cost nothing and kept a 110M midfielder quiet. This lad is going to be very special indeed. With the tutelage of Howe and Co his potential is endless. We have a potential world beater on our hands.

    Well done son

    Onwards and upwards
