South American Forward On Newcastle’s Radar For January Signing

There are various recent reports that Newcastle want to sign young Juventus star forward Matias Soule in January.

The 20-year-old Argentine U20 International forward is playing well on loan at Italian club Frosinone in the Serie A this season, and it seems that Juventus are willing to sell the player for €25M (£21.8M) in January.

Juventus have money problems and have to sell players quickly to improve their poor financial position.

The left-footed player usually plays on the right wing and is on a season-long loan at Frosinone, but that could all change if Newcastle are really interested in signing the player in January.

Another advantage is he is versatile and can play in multiple forward positions.

Soule has played 16 games this season at Frosinone with 6 goals and an assist, and he has looked like an impressive young player in Serie A.

He has played 21 times for the Juventus first team with one goal.

His style of play is stated as follows on Wikipedia

“Soule is a left-footed right winger, noted for his dribbling ability and set-piece taking, earning him comparisons to Angel Di Maria.”

He was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and is of Italian descent, and he holds dual citizenship, and considers Independiente his favorite team and Lionel Messi his favorite player (that’s a surprise).

Soule has 7 caps for the Argentine U20 side so he is a typical Newcastle target.

He’s a young player (who stands 6ft tall) and looks to have the ability to become much improved at Newcastle, under the guidance of head coach Eddie Howe and his coaching staff.

However, Newcastle are not the only club keeping an eye on the youngster, with other top European clubs are also aware of the player’s talents.

It would be a surprise to us if Newcastle sign any players permanently in January.

But there again, if a target is available in January for a decent price, and can help us in the second half of the season, as long as it’s within FFP rules and for the long term, Newcastle should sign the player.

Soule is certainly one to keep an eye on for next month, once the transfer window opens.

Just my opinion obviously and not trying to claim i’m right. Just think it’s clear injuries are responsible for most of our current problems. Not ‘game plans’, or negative away from home etc etc.

Get players back and it’ll be proven when we have a fantastic second half of the season.

Until we get a proper number 10 who can actually create like a Szobozlai or similar, ie a playmaking technician, we’re never going to catch the top 2 – 3.

The summer transfer window was a disaster. Tonali, Barnes, Hall all suspended, injured or don’t play. Only Tino looks the real deal.

No rapid RCB, number 10 or young striker while after all this time LB still remains a bit of a lottery.

Everyone loves Miggy but is there a more frustrating player? Yes he runs like a duracell bunny and last season scored some belters, yada yada yada but so many times he loses possession or shoots weakly and his assists record is shocking. Don’t even start on his lack of a right foot.

KT is and has been absolutely brilliant but give the guy a rest when he’s so clearly struggling. Kraft, Hall, even Dummet could all have been used or ”trusted”.

To crash out of 2 cups in a week while in pole position to progress reflects some poor game management and equally bizarre subs.

We look great at home when we’re going at teams but it’s not happening away and we could end up with nowt.

Everyone says how well Ashworth did at Brighton and indeed he’s plucked out some gems but there were more than a few that were never heard of again. Indeed not one of all the Brazilian youngsters we’ve been linked with ever seems to come off. DA has done an exceptional job in coordinating and stocking the different compartments of the club with new staff and personnel but if he really wants to jumps ship so soon then so be it.

They are proposing making all matches free to watch and earning revenue on the expected increase in advertising money ( although you do have to install an app that you’ll no doubt have to give permission to your phone contacts etc )

A rebooted version of the European Super League would stream all its matches for free and introduce promotion and relegation, its creators have said, as plans were announced to revive the breakaway project.

On Thursday a judgment from the European court of justice in Luxembourg found that Uefa’s and Fifa’s rules for authorising new international competitions had been “unlawful”. In response, the company behind the Super League – A22 Sports – released a new concept for the project.

According to the proposals, the Super League would eliminate previous criticisms of the tournament. “Solidarity, openness and meritocracy” would be “the cornerstones of the project”, A22’s chief executive, Bernd Reichard, said. To sweeten the deal further, Reichart claimed that an app – known as Unify – which would stream the Super League matches would attract billions of fans to its free services.

The only thing with ESL is there is no relegation down to or promotion from below. Otherwise if we were part of it it could be interesting.

They’re proposing to split each league into teams of 8 so each team would play a minimum of 14 matches
4 from each league go through to a knockout stage
so essentially the same number of games as current champions league

There are questions to be asked but people conflate asking questions with lack of support. Which is typically stupid of some of the people on here.

If Ashworth goes, we move on. He has done solidly but let’s not go screaming from the rooftops about him.

Rotunda – they’ve introduced relegation and promotion
How would promotion and relegation work?

In the men’s and women’s Star league, the clubs who finish bottom of the two groups will be relegated to the Gold league.

In the men’s Gold league the two finalists would be promoted to the Star league. The teams at the bottom of the two Gold league groups will be relegated to the Blue league.

In the men’s Blue league, the finalists would be promoted to the Gold league. However, 20 of the 32 clubs will leave the league at the end of their campaign, and replaced by clubs depending on their domestic league performance.

However, Reichart added of teams’ ability to be promoted into the Blue league: “At this stage, more dialogue with clubs and leagues is necessary to work out the precise details.”

In the women’s Gold league, the two finalists would be promoted to the Star league. Four of the clubs will leave the league at the end of their campaign, and replaced by clubs depending on their domestic league performance.

But does the top league not have the same teams every year,
Where’s the glamour for the small clubs around the World, where the hell has sportsmanship gone,
Disgarded like everything we hold dear,
I’m pleased I was from a different era, I may have not seen us win anything since the Fairscup, but I’ve seen some fantastic football.
I’m a dreamer what can I say. Love to see the underdog win over the giants and super rich.
That’s us now though, so we’ll probably be part of it all. I suppose it’s inevitable.

Carltton, I guess teams will have to choose which competition to play in, I’m guessing most teams will stick with UEFA champions league so just can’t see advertisers and the money buying into the new league – it looks like there’ll be no TV money as theyve said all matches will be streamed by thier app – they’re probably going to go bust in a couple of years

Re this super league although it’s been deemed illegal to block it I would have thought UEFA and FIFA could find other ways to apply pressure such as banning players from internationals who play in this super league. As I say this, it’s reminding me more and more of Kerry Packer in cricket (for those old enough to remember) and that fizzled out after a year or two!

Generally rich men know little about football and cheering their childhood team on and don’t know about supporting year after year in sometimes bad weather days/nights.

What rich men know about is money – how to make it and make more. This new Europe league proposition has nothing to do with providing supporters with a fantastic product, sometimes where the little team wins but it is all to do with making money.
People should try and resist this crap for as long as they can.

Personally think Ritchie is fine as a squad player at the moment. We play inverted wingers so he doesn’t need to have blinding pace, and he still has more game intelligence than others.
Thought he did well when he came on against Fulham, and might have scored if Wilson hadn’t been greedy and had played him in when he was totally free in the box.
He had little impact going forward against Chelsea but nobody else did either, so he can hardly be blamed for that.
Also think Howe could have used some of the kids against Chelsea to get some pace up front and out wide and take the pressure off late on.

The super league aim is to create more fans more new fans so it will be the overseas market mostly who will want to watch the Real Madrids and Barcelonas not Copenhagen . So they will get the app. All the advertising revenue will be with the app. Sponsorships. Napoli has said they will join. So 3 teams so far.

Imagine if the idea is to have Super League free to watch, but via an App, there’ll likely be microtransactions or a ‘premium package’.

So it’s free, but you get way more if you upgrade to premium or something. Being an App they can probably get loooads of advertisements on there too which will make a load of money. Also interactive stuff, games, quizzes, choice of commentator for matches, different camera angles, player cam, multiscreen for multiple matches, watch parties with friends etc etc etc

Loads of features they can include in the app, plenty of ways to make people pay just a little bit for extra things and plenty of ways to create revenue to allow the actual watching to be ‘free’.

We are trying for top 4 with a few starters who are not top 4 quality.
Does anybody see Miggy a starter for City, Liverpool Arsenal Tottenham etc?
He cannot put his foot through the ball and his goals are nearly all curlers. He loses the ball repeatedly.
Wilson loses the ball repeatedly when we are under the cosh and need an out ball. Great finisher but offers little when there is nowt to finish.
A quality right winger, all round CF (Isak is top player but not a CF) and playmaker like De Bryne and we would be transformed and get top 4.
We seem mad on defenders. Why? Three top centre backs and more fullbacks than I can count

Those other players aren’t available though, and at the moment we can’t expect to have top class backup players that hardly ever get a game, whereas Ritchie is happy to be just a squad player.
I think he is fine for the rest of the season and then look to upgrade the squad in the summer, and also maybe bring in some better players at U21 level who could step up if needed.

The players you listed did get us top 4 last season though.

Considering the hard start we’ve had, with the matches, strength of opponents and injuries, we’re hardly doing terrible this season either.

Still got a second half of the season to go.

We’ll get players upgraded over time. It’s not going to happen in just a couple of seasons. Man City didn’t win a trophy right away or become dominant overnight, took many seasons to get to where they are now.
