There are various recent reports that Newcastle want to sign young Juventus star forward Matias Soule in January.
The 20-year-old Argentine U20 International forward is playing well on loan at Italian club Frosinone in the Serie A this season, and it seems that Juventus are willing to sell the player for €25M (£21.8M) in January.
Juventus have money problems and have to sell players quickly to improve their poor financial position.
The left-footed player usually plays on the right wing and is on a season-long loan at Frosinone, but that could all change if Newcastle are really interested in signing the player in January.
Another advantage is he is versatile and can play in multiple forward positions.
Soule has played 16 games this season at Frosinone with 6 goals and an assist, and he has looked like an impressive young player in Serie A.
He has played 21 times for the Juventus first team with one goal.
His style of play is stated as follows on Wikipedia
“Soule is a left-footed right winger, noted for his dribbling ability and set-piece taking, earning him comparisons to Angel Di Maria.”
He was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and is of Italian descent, and he holds dual citizenship, and considers Independiente his favorite team and Lionel Messi his favorite player (that’s a surprise).
Soule has 7 caps for the Argentine U20 side so he is a typical Newcastle target.
He’s a young player (who stands 6ft tall) and looks to have the ability to become much improved at Newcastle, under the guidance of head coach Eddie Howe and his coaching staff.
However, Newcastle are not the only club keeping an eye on the youngster, with other top European clubs are also aware of the player’s talents.
It would be a surprise to us if Newcastle sign any players permanently in January.
But there again, if a target is available in January for a decent price, and can help us in the second half of the season, as long as it’s within FFP rules and for the long term, Newcastle should sign the player.
Soule is certainly one to keep an eye on for next month, once the transfer window opens.
What do you think?

I would keep Eddie for at least another season but he is not beyond criticism.
A manager lives or dies by his transfers and last summer was a mixed bag and hardly moved us on.
Tino is a brilliant buy. But…
Hall. No idea what’s going on there for 35 mil.
Barnes. Do we really need another left winger.
Tonali. What can you say? Bruno is much better and I do not think you can play both as neither is quick.
So a mixed bag. Must do better this summer.

With other players out injured long term or suspended, then I still think there will be a squad place for Ritchie and he will get phased out in the summer.

Comment #86I really do think this current patch of games/form has been a slightly damned if you do and damned if you don’t scenario.
If we tried to play our usual home form style and went all guns blazing in every match, chances are we’d have got even more injuries due to more workload. So fans would have complained about that. Instead we’ve tried to be a bit cleverer about it and play slightly different, slightly less energy, still possession based and try to counter a little more to not push our players too hard. That gets labelled as negative and people aren’t happy about it. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
People also have wanted more rotation and subs. Our players to sub on have been slim pickings. So if we brought them on and they done bad, fans would question why we took a decent player off for someone like Ritchie or an untried youngster. But make no subs or changes and fans aren’t happy as there’s no rotation.
Hindsight is wonderful and maybe some changes here and there could have worked better. But the injuries, fatigue and lack of genuine good options has hampered us severely.

Comment #87Unfortunately we have a few lilly livered fans with very short memories. If not for these unprecedented levels of injuries I believe we’d still be fighting on all four fronts and mixing it up with that top three.

That might happen, will be interesting if they stick with the current lot or bring in another keeper as well. Dubravka has been fine the last few games, but just depends if they have the chance to sign a young keeper they have been monitoring or not I think.

If we’d lost against Man U it would have been, perfect time to process etc,.he’s deliberately chucked etc, same against Man City, people complaining he went too strong against Chelsea.

Comment #90To strong against Chelsea – No we were only three games away from Wembley and another final which automatically guarantees European Football
Luton going to be tough due to injuries
but hopefully we will have another 3 or 4 back for Forest next Tuesday.
PS – thought Chelsea targeted our players to injure them especially Gordon who tormented them 3 weeks ago

Comment #93Does anyone think for one moment that we would be on the guest list to be invited into the ‘Star’ League of 16 teams from across all the European leagues ? Unless of course the yardstick is financial wealth then we are first on the list !
This is a private cartel designed by Real Madrid and Barcelona to protect their own financial vulnerability.
Presumably Juventus who walked away from it’s original inception and dear old ManU who have said they will stick with UEFA and don’t want to be part of it (until Ineos tell them otherwise) will not be invited and won’t participate. Ha ha bloody ha.
The same Euro judges will have to tell the A5 group to do one because it’s against all business laws of their own making.
Anyway we’re not in the Euro zone thanks to Brexit so they can do one.

agreed.
We need squad depth and strength to protect against injuries but also to be able to bring more subs on for the last 20minutes to change or wins games. The top 6 have it off to a fine art and the new Euro League is an extension of the private cartel that sits and meets to ring fence their own vested interests. It’s the same franchise minded groups who run the NFL and now Golf with the new controlling interests in the background. It’s a Orwellian vision of controlling the masses and selling them TV coverage and soft drinks to go with that. It’s got Corporate Control all over it and a handful of zealous, greedy dodgies are like Jabba the Hut rubbing their fat bellies in glee. Pass the sick bucket.

Comment #105Eddie and the background staff and our owners, will succeed, we just have to get behind the team, remember where we come from, it’s still early in our quest for being an elite team, what happened to giving our team a chance,
Who else could have taken us on this journey with all the obstacles put in our way.
I’m disappointed as the next fan, about the injuries and the way the last few games have gone, but looking forward to January and our new players.

Comment #106Of course it’s disappointing to be out of the Champions league and Rumbelows Cup but I’d rather have that disappointment than to not be competing at all. We have a club we can be proud of again. The last few weeks are just a blip. The positives far outweigh anything negative. Be assured that our owners whether it be January or the summer will rectify the situation with the squad so fingers crossed an injury situation like this won’t be of detriment to us like it has this season. I’m just so proud of our team and all they have achieved and will achieve. So it’s a big thankyou from me to Big Al, Amanda, Mehrdrad, Jamie, Eddie, Jason, all the backroom staff and last but not least the most important people the players.

Comment #107Jail, no harm in asking questions as you see it. Too many sheep , and I ain’t one. I said ages ago that we didn’t need a left winger and I don’t think Tonali is in Brunos league. Hall is now a big question mark in terms of who made that decision. I don’t mock JMiley at all and guys like Rotonda and others are also able to think for themselves and put it out there. Many aren’t, for fear that they are called non supporters. I’ve supported nufc for 40 something years so I don’t care what people think.

Comment #110Carltoon I’ve no doubt we will get a bit of a surge going on after Christmas, especially when we get Willock fit. But we need first team ready purchases ASAP. Kids for the future are fine but we needed guys like Diaby before and didn’t get them and he’s exactly the type to elevate us beyond the Miggy level, who needs to be a sub now.

But as someone said earlier you don’t have much of a leg to stand on if you barely attack second half. It’s hard to believe that the away form is so poor and the home form is so solid
Is it just crowd support, maybe.

Comment #117Munster I reckon it was their persistent niggly fouls that that the ref just let go that contributed a lot to our not so good performance, promising moves and positions were hampered by them just consistently pushing our lads over.
The same fouls by us were mostly punished with a free kick.

Considering AG is being run in to the ground, we very much needed a LW, plus from Edfie H’s comments there was plans to send AG through the middle when Wilson injured and Issk rested.
