Eddie Howe has given his press conference for our away game at Luton Town tomorrow, and his updates on the injury front are fairly positive.
It looks like Anthony Gordon and Emil Krafth are just sore from the knocks they took on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge – and both could be in the side for tomorrow’s game.
Sven Botman and Callum Wilson have made a successful return to the side with Wilson back with a goal at Chelsea and Botman looking as poised as ever after being out since September, when we hammered Sheffield United 8-0.
This is some of what Eddie Howe had to say today:
“Callum (Wilson) has come back into the team and done really well – in a time where he didn’t have a lot of training before hitting the pitch – he took his goal really well as he always does.”
“Sven (Botman) is good, we will assess him today. I am very pleased with his return; he has looked strong and comfortable. It will take him time to get his rhythm going and be back to his absolute best but I’m very pleased with his performance.”
“It is a very difficult place to go, but we are looking forward to the game. They ran Arsenal close and got a draw against Liverpool. They are fully committed to how they play. Knowing the stadium like I do; it will not be an easy game for us. We will have to be at our very best. It will be an emotionally charged afternoon.”
“We are hoping to see how they are this morning. Anthony Gordon was sore – it was a horrible challenge on him.”
“I am really disappointed with the tackle – we will see how he is today. Emil Krafth had a nasty cut on his shin which required stitches so we will see how he is.”
“Scans for Joelinton and Fabian Schar painted a similar picture as we thought, not too serious with either. Alex (Isak) is 50/50.”
It’s good that Joelinton and Schar are not seriously injured, but they will still miss some games.

Comment #1I would rest Trippier for this game and play Tino and Burn as fullbacks. The crucial one for Eddie’s bingo is Gordon. He could also do with a rest, but can we afford to play without him? Could we not play Hall further forward?

Comment #2If they’re further to the right of Tuff, TDS, they must be horizontal!?

Comment #3I wondered exactly what your “Glute” was? Well now I now! I attended Wansbeck Hospital earlier this month regarding my left hip. I’ve just received the Consultant’s letter and it mentions my left Glute. It seems it’s a muscle in the buttock. So now I know!

Comment #4There was mention of being a Newcastle United supporter on the previous post.
Well I’ve followed my team since around 1956 – In all the years I’ve supported NUFC I never ever had a choice on who owned the club and I don’t now! But I still support Newcastle United and will until my dying day.
I obviously hope the dying day bit is not for some time yet as it’s my wish to see my team win the EPL before I pop off!
