One of the successes this season, given all the injuries we have had, is the performance of 17-year-old central midfielder Lewis Miley.
Lewis has put in some consistently good performances when he’s been called on, whihc has been often.
And news today that the teenager has been given a new long-term deal and he looks to be one of the most promising youngsters in years – to come through the ranks at Newcastle.
Lewis has made 18 first-team appearances this season and he’s looked very composed for one so young.
Here’s an extract from the official Newcastle report on the signing:
In November 2023, Lewis became the youngest-ever Newcastle United player to register an assist in the Premier League when he set up an Alexander Isak goal in a 4-1 victory over Chelsea.
He also became the youngest player to record an assist for an English side in UEFA Champions League history in December 2023, laying on a pass for Joelinton to score against AC Milan.
And just three days later, he became Newcastle United’s youngest-ever scorer in the Premier League, bagging the opener at the Gallowgate End as the Magpies ran out 3-0 winners against Fulham.
Upon committing his future to the club, Lewis said:
“It’s a really proud moment for me and my family to sign another professional contract with my boyhood club. I couldn’t be prouder.”
“Hopefully I can continue to do well over the next few years, and I can keep improving my performance and getting better as a player.”
“It’s a real joy playing in front of the fans, especially to hear them chanting my name.”
“Their support means so much to me and my family, and I’m looking forward to the future.”
And Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe had this to say today on the signing:
“Lewis is an exceptional young talent and has all the attributes to be a huge part of Newcastle United’s journey, both now and for many years to come.”
“He has already contributed to the team with excellent performances in very challenging circumstances this season, and we are very excited about what is to come as he continues to develop his game and grow with us.”
“I’d like to acknowledge the role of the club’s Academy in Lewis’ development.”
“He is a shining example of the club’s talent pathway and he can hopefully inspire our younger players to follow in his footsteps.”
This is very good news, and it shows just how important signing (local) youngsters are to the future of the Newcastle club.
Heaven knows what Lewis can do for Newcastle United in future years.
But from what we have seen from the mature youngster this season – the sky is the limit for this local teenager.
Here’s Fabrizio Romano’s take on it.
some player ???

Comment #10The troll saying that Great Britain is f**** ? 🙄
With this creature living here, not working but spraffing off the government and the taxpayers no wonder our great nation is not as it once was because of this type of scum that stink our once great nation up. A country that many of our forefathers fought, bled and died for, to keep Britain great, just so these cretins can survive here and in doing so hate everything about western culture/society and the way we live.
TROLL – F*** off to Palestine if the UK is so f***** we don’t need your type here. You and your type are a disease!!!

Comment #14In terms of the cartel and ffp restricting other clubs with ambition and the finance to back that up, like us, Villa, Brighton. As long as we keep knocking some of the entitled 6 out of the top 4/6 then the gap will close. Their revenues will slow down and ours will rise as we get more exposure. This is a revenue race as that determines how good your team is, plus of course sound management and recruitment. The sad aspect for us is that we were well set in the top 4 when SBR was sacked. Since then we’ve allowed Spurs and City to race ahead. They’ve had a 20 year head start.

Comment #16Apologies in advance as it’s not football related. But too many people come on here with their very left leaning views. Mine is middle slightly right.
OK…I’ll put it out there I’m sure some will agree and I’m sure there will be many that will disagree and call me a racist.
One of the main reason(s) as to why the UK is not as it once was is that our borders are not under stricter control. We have 1000s of illegal immigrants landing on our Kent coastline each day and rather than these illegals being sent packing. We’ve put them in hostels, hotels, homes, sheltered accommodation etc. which is a huge drain on our economy. It must be pointed out that many of these illegals are dangerous murders and rapists. They don’t understand our laws or our cultures, many of them hate us and that is a huge concern. The quicker our government get this finally under control and round up these illegals and deport them the quicker we get back to the Great Britain we once knew. Brexit was supposed to allow all this to happen?
UK enemies in no particular order:
– Iran
– Russia
– China
– North Korea
– Illegal immigrants
– woke ideology (making the west soft – Putin is laughing at us).
– Islam (ONLY the ones that hate the way we live – the ones that accept our culture and want to live with us in harmony are absolutely fine)
For those of you who believe the above is racist then that’s your opinion and you’re welcome to that. However I see myself more of a realist that says it exactly how it is.

Comment #18Salford based or Salford infected and Spanish media telling porkies ?
Surely not ?
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says reports linking him with succeeding Xavi as Barcelona manager are “totally untrue”.
Spanish newspaper Sport said Arteta, who is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy, was also thinking of leaving his post with the Gunners.
“Who, me? No. That is totally fake news,” said Arteta, whose Arsenal contract runs until the summer of 2025.
“What you read, I’m really upset about it. I couldn’t believe it. It has no sources.

It was a post yesterday that has been pulled. Where I told the troll exactly what I thought of it – There was nothing bad just very blunt. So the troll who lives to dish it out to such gentlemen as yourself can call people junkies, murderers, wife beaters. But when someone tells it exactly what they think of it. It has asked for the post to be pulled and it has.
It makes a mockery out of everything. But it’s obvious that this troll is a weak minded freak

But you only choose to see what you want don’t you? I can imagine you to smile with joy when he calls me all the vile names under the sun… You’re just as much of a sicko as the freak troll. Like 2 birds of a feather or like 2 peas in a pod. You’re both driven by evil hatred and very very alike.

Presumably if they loose we can also take 7,000 to Blackburn.
If Wrexham win not sure they can accommodate 7,000 away fans but hopefully a good many for both clubs to enjoy.
Wrexham will be backed by 7,000 travelling supporters at Ewood Park as they face Rovers for the right to host Newcastle United in the fifth round.

The problem with what you say (as long as we knock the top six out of the top six, we can catch up) is that this kind of thing can’t be sustained.
A team could get lucky with cheapo transfers which prove better than the expensive ones of the top six, but the chances of that happening are low.
It can happen, but it probably won’t. Once in a while a team gate crashes but it soon returns where it belongs.
Which brings me to your point, Transfer. The above happens because the market is ALREADY distorted.
Anyway, maybe we’ll get there some day with some great coaching and amazing undiscovered gem stones. Just like all the other chasers.
Any shortcuts are currently blocked.

We say the PL is the most competitive in the world. Anyone can beat anyone etc.
But: in the last twenty years there never have been fewer than four of the “big” six ending in the top six positions. That says a lot.
