Callum Wilson has been linked with AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United in this January window but Eddoe Hpwe was adamant in his press conference this morning that he is 100% committed to Newcastle United.
Since he was signed in August of 2020, for around £20M, Wilson has been quite prolific in his scoring, and in 102 games for the Magpies, he has scored 46 goals with 11 assists.
That’s an excellent return from the former Bournemouth and Coventry striker, who turns 32 next month.
Eddie Howe has today said there is really nothing in the speculation surrounding Callum Wilson and Howe would never let his second striker leave the club this month without bringing in a replacement.
This is what Eddie Howe said about Callum this morning:
“I’ve had those conversations with Callum,”
“He is 100% committed just like Kieran Trippier is. That’s why I’m surprised by the noise around Callum really.”
“He’s currently injured, we’ve got one fit striker and he is our second striker and we are desperate to get him back.”
“From his and our perspective, there is nothing in him leaving.”
“That’s been a strange one really because there’s been a lot of speculation regarding Callum and I’ve seen some of it, probably not all of it but a lot of it.”
“I think it has been unfounded.”
It’s looking like we will not be bringing anybody in this month and not losing anybody either.
That will leave the summer transfer window to be a potential big one.
At that time Newcastle can decide to offload some of our older players, and we will also have money to spend, within the rules allowed by PSR.
Comments welcome.

I think the logic behind the points deduction is you need a meaningful deterrent. If it’s just a fine, it just becomes an additional cost of doing business and not a real deterrent.
If not, you’d just have clubs saying I can afford to spend 100 million more than the rules allow. I’ll therefore spend 80 million more and take the 20 million fine.

Sorry, got the wrong end of the stick there. Thought you were talking about clubs getting docked points for going into administration, although it’s sort of similar.

Comment #164TS…Yeah I get that but they really need to find a better way(no idea how) as the punishment can drive a club closer to going bust, which is what it’s supposed to prevent. As I said no idea of the solution but the current set up just isn’t working imo anyway.
Maybe if owners who want to spend accept the debt rather than the club itself may be a partial solution. But being a bit of a thickie I’ve no idea if that’s workable or even makes sense.

Comment #165Davas… No worries, all of it needs looking at imo.
Even if they keep ffp the allowed loss surely has to increase at the same rate as player transfer fees and wages surely? Even better a salary cap and transfer fee cap…which ain’t gonna happen.

So it’s ok for well behaved NUFC fans to be left stuck in London on a Sunday night without trains home and extra costs, but troublesome scousers who can’t afford to stay over can get home that evening while Chelsea’s prawn munchers hang around for a coffee and then get the tube back into their local haunts.
The Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday, 25 February will now kick off at 15:00 GMT on police advice.
The match was originally scheduled to kick-off at 16:30 but has been designated a ‘high-risk’ fixture.

Comment #169Has Miggy travelled to Villa ?
If he’s on the bench or playing then no move to Saudi as their window closes tonight.
Bet he gets our winner.

There will be violence between Chelsea and Liverpool in that final for sure. See link below of the clashes which took place just last week.
Probably a good reason for the Met Police to change the kick off time mate:

Comment #173If Miggy and Gordon are both playing tonight like to see Howe change tactics by leaving one or both upfield for their corners free kicks so we have a outlet with quick counter attack using their speed!!

Comment #174Certain folk need to stop being so bloody negative re this seasons performance so far along with the January transfer window being so quiet.. Aye granted that we all wanted big spending when the new owners came in, we got it didn’t we? However the very unfair FFP has caught up with us which has been very unfortunate and quite literally stumped our growth (for now that is 😉 )
It’s been mentioned before on here that from what the new owners took on, they have to do a massive overhaul of revenues and commercial deals to get us to the levels of spending we want to be at to challenge for top 4 on a consistent/regular basis…
Lots of other clubs are dealing with the same issues. Take our opponents tonight for example, they’ve been hit as they are reportedly need to sell before buying etc. On a brighter note the summer will be very different because of the Adidas money is available along with new sponsorship deals coming into effect along with the UCL money generated.
I’ve said it many times on here but we must trust the process that our owners have implemented and working on and towards as they want success just as much as us and are on the same page which is all we’ve ever wanted. A team and club that gets us and tries…In the meantime give Eddie and the lads all the support they need. I’m convinced that they will turn it around (starting tonight hopefully) to really give us that much needed jolt which we need.
In a nutshell. Don’t let the negativity which is spewed out on here on a daily basis from the few negative lot we have spoil your experience. Just ignore the negative energy and stay positive as positive energy is the key and way to go with anything in life not just our football club 🙂

I 100% agree with you, people like JohnJ do not understand because these people never ever live in the middle of where these people are placed ,they normally have more money than the average person.
It’s us normal people that have to deal with the problems that these economic migrants bring
