Aston Villa 1 Newcastle United 3 – Video Highlights From NBC Sports

Here are the video highlights after Newcastle’s 3rd win in our last 4 games and it was a terrific 3-1 win at in-form Aston Villa.

Well, they were in form up until this game, when they looked poor by their own high standards this season.

But Newcastle are back to near their best, with an energetic and commanding performance where there were good performances from our players all over the pitch.

Fabian Schar scored a brace and it seems he and Dan Burn can score the goals for Newcastle even though they are in the back four.

Here are NBC Sports highlights of this terrific win for the Magpies.

We are at home against Luton Town on Saturday – 3:00pm KO – and we have to get all 3 points in that game.

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match In 3-1 Win At Aston Villa?

I give my MOTM to Schar as he was unbelievably good tonight and was so close to a hatrick. I was just thinking has there ever been a centre back score a hatrick not only for us but for any other club in the EPL?

A close second for MOTM was Gordon, this kid is class. Honest to bid we struck gold signing him, he is the real deal and what a brilliant professional attitude he has, his character was questionable when we first signed him. But Eddie and his team knew what they could turn this kid into. Huge career awaiting the lad. By the way , I think DrGloom had a long chat with him on the train that time and he ain’t looked back since. lol 😉

Not unreasonable to think we can get 9 points from next 3 games.

What a shot in the arm that would be.

Season would definitely be back on. Just such a shame about Joelinton.

Can’t disagree with Schar and Gordon. Delighted to see Eddie get Tino on. Bailey got the better of him once, that was his lot. I was watching with the kid and was shouting to get him on. As soon as he did I turned to him and said ” he’ll snuff him out” . Much better use of subs and delighted to see Miggy on the left.

I went for Schar too, but totally agree. Gordon was an absolute steal at £40m.

He’d be double that now. If he doesn’t go to the euros, Southgate is robbing England of the best left sided player in the league.

    Harley,

Absolutely mate, Gordon is electric and his drive is infectious. Players like him are born winners, the type of player the opposition fans hate to see playing against them. We need more players of that winning mentality who will ensure we get to the next level fast and that level is winning trophies. The lad is unique and it was amazing business by us to secure his services.

We were privy to how we went for him in the last days of the January transfer window last year when we heard Amanda and Mehdad discussing the possibility of signing him whilst they were in the car during the Amazon series. They knew they had to get him by any means and it turned out to be proven right. Let’s see what they do in the summer window as it’s going to be a good one for sure. They know what they’re doing.

To win that match tonight so emphatically against a very good Villa team and with the very short turnaround, for me was one of the many pleasing and satisfying aspects of a truly memorable performance.

Have you considered the possibility that your Tommy Robinson inspired outburst of yesterday might have pi$$ed a few regular posters off?

Well that was excellent, but why take until now to go three at the back in the last twenty to see games out?

Maybe harsh after such a fine performance, but with so few options in midfield, 3 at the back has surely always been a way to get fresh legs on, tighten things up at the back, and keep a quality 11on the pitch. We lose Isak, take off Miley, but because we go 3 at the back, we retain a potent 11, and see the game out in some style.

I guess it’s something they’ve been working on, but only now are ready to implement.

I can answer that in part I guess. We could go 3 at the back and retain a fine 11, because we had both Almiron and Livra on the bench, making it the strongest bench we’ve seen in a little while. Even so though, Livra for Miley and moving to a back three and wingbacks around the 70 minute mark has been an option since Dan Burn returned to the side from injury, in which time we dropped a lot of points, and played with some significantly tired legs and a very exposed defence.

Anyway, better late than never, and it augurs well for the remainder of the season. Play like that, and we’ll finish sixth in a canter, and maybe, just maybe, even catch Spurs and Villa.

Rather than asking me for my thoughts on what was a surprisingly good result, wouldn’t you be better occupied trying to find something useful to do with your time.

There must be some country somewhere that would benefit from your talents. But, where could that be?

Fat fingers. Okay…..how the hell did a club like say Arsenal not come in for Fabian Schar at any point before PIF and Eddie Howe made him the star his talent richly deserved. This guy just pings it around with ease, reads the game beautifully, and competes. He also looks like a matinee idol. It always astonished me that we got him so cheaply, and more so, that no one ever came in for him. Steve Bruce of course wouldn’t even pick him.

Five things (not sure I’ll reach this number) about last night:

Two close ups of Murphy. The first, he clearly tells an opponent to fxxx xxx. The second, in the 96″, his hands gesture clearly indicates the match is over. Cool.

Our big defenders, Botman, Burn and Schar are now showing their menace in set plays. I think they’ll continue to threaten.

We tire at 70″, every game. As a result, many a good effort, including the City one, goes without reward as we naturally crumble in the end. Opponents bring on a Debruyne or a Bailey when we’re tiring. Our team needs depth, or no injuries!

Expect the unexpected if you support this team. After last season, we had “arrived”, move over top six and all that. Then we went on a good old losing run. We’re crap, sell them all! And we go and do last night. Heroes, love them all!

Is that five? No? We’re gonna win the league! And the cup! Fire Eddie bring Emery in! 😉

    @Nicky

I can tell we have been working on things in training as we made similar good tactical moves against Fulham to protect the lead

It’s actually the kind of move a Simeone, Jose or a Rafa would make to close games out and we have the personnel to do it

Can’t wait for us to do it against Arteta and watch him jump about losing his mind haha

“how the hell did a club like say Arsenal not come in for Fabian Schar at any point”
You could say that about Bruno, Botman or Isak and just shows to those that point out why we didn’t get Kudus for example, certain things just fall in to place and there’s the fact you can’t just buy everyone, there always seems to be a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) when another club signs a cut price gem, we’re doing alright recruitment wise.

After the match, their was a heated moment between Villa manager Unai Emery and Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall as the Spanish coach snubbed Eddie Howe’s assistant at the final whistle. This provoked an explicit response from Tindall.

    Shocking behaviour .

AG one booking away from a two match ban as well, not sure what we’re going to do if Wilson isn’t back for Saturday. Is Isak made of glass or just playing him too much because of injuries elsewhere?
