Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe in his press conference yesterday was upbeat and positive as usual.
And that’s always a good trait and Howe is also realistic and just a great role model for our young impressionable supporters.
You can’t go far wrong if you look at Eddie Howe and how he handles both his successes and the challenges we all get in life.
Howe does not have trouble this week in picking the Newcastle team, and although we are getting players back from injury like Jacob Murphy and perhaps Harvey Barnes, they are coming back to fitness slowly.
We look forward to when Joe Willock can return to the Newcastle first team – because he can make a difference with Joelinton out injured for the season.
Here’s a likely team Howe could put out tonight at Villa Park, where Aston Villa have won 9 and drawn one of their 10 home games in the Premier League this season.
Dubravka
Trippier (c) Schar Botman Burn
Miley Guimaraes Miley
Almiron Isak Gordon
That’s one change from the team that started last Saturday in the 2-0 win at Fulham.
Almiron is now fit again after his sickness and will likely start on the right wing in place of Jacob Murphy.
Comments welcome.

As regards Dan Burn:
I really do wish we acquire a genuine top class left back some time soon. Until then BDB is the man for me.
He doesn’t offer too much in the way of overlaps / crosses and when holding a high line he can easily be skinned by a fast right winger.
I an ideal world it would be like having a “special plays” player in team as in Grid Iron football, as that is precisely what he is.
When set up and in position for an attack against us, his telescopic legs work wonderful in the tackle. He is great for both defending set pieces, and causing mayhem in the other team’s box when attacking set pieces.
I reckon he gets the nod from EH because he often identifies that the opponents are a) good at attacking set pieces b) poor at defending set pieces c) both
The price we pay is when we press high and the other side have a lightening fast right wing.

Comment #4Think Murphy might start to confound Villa’s planning, then Miggy on later to score the winner when more space for him to operate in.

Comment #5This is my team also and the same as Ed’s in the article. Basically an unchanged lineup:
Dubravka
Trippier Schar Botman Burn
Miley Guimaraes Miley
Almiron Isak Gordon
With Murphy and maybe even Wilson in the bench means we look much stronger and able to change things up and make changes if need be.

Two Miley’s for you as well….must be fan haha!
I’d go for:
Dubravka
Trippier Schar Botman Burn
Miley Guimaraes Miley
Murphy Isak Gordon
Always preferred Murphy to Almiron since Eddie has come in and I think his better finishing will be key for the game, as well as his ability to play those passes from the right into the path of Isak, something Miggy can’t do too well as won’t use his right foot.
Our chance in this game is on the counter, beating their high line. The are miles ahead in terms of catching teams offside but also far ahead in terms of conceding chances from through balls. If we get it right, that’s where we win the game.

Comment #12Miggy has travelled to Villa with the squad according to Craig Hope. He also states that Miggy is still not 100% in that case I think we will see Miggy on the bench and Murphy starting?

Comment #15Latest news is that we’ve signed another lad called Miley.
He’ll play central midfield alongside Miley and Miley.
The Chronicle headline thinks they are sponsored by a well known Gosforth pub so headline is

Comment #16Small World, watching the show the other day I think Sean Casey was saying there were a few good small full backs we turned down. I presume Dan is loved partly because of his height and allows us to go 3 at the back. Either way we need to plug midfield, and Eddie hasn’t changed anything to fix that in reality, hence disastrous results like Forest.

Comment #28It’s a case of “Smiles for Mile(y)s
There used to be a haulage company called Smiles for Miles when I was younger.
We had as a customer a Mr Smiles who’d bought a new Wolsely 1500 auto.
He had a gammy leg! He asked for the brake & accelerator pedals to be changed round but when he took his car home and was putting it into his garage that sloped down towards his kitchen he forgot the pedals had been changed and pressed the accelerator instead of the brake – he ended up in his kitchen!
We were sent out pronto to change them back before the insurance assessor arrived! True story!

Comment #35Oh the joy of another week of Fantasy Football when I get to watch another FPL team kick my teams as$! 😀
My bad luck this year has been epic! I thought I had a rare win banked the week Luton played Bournemouth. My captain that week was Solanke, and he had already scored and I was for once comfortably ahead of my opponent that game week. What could possibly go wrong??

Comment #37Hope the lads turn the season around tonight.
We need massive games from the midfielders. But think im expecting something not possible.
If its the old Eddie 433 with usual 3 in midfield we are in big trouble. Hope Eddie doesn’t have that bewildered look on the line, it is possible to try something different.
5 at the back, 4231 with Miggy in behind Isak. But highly unlikely and playing same way as last couple of month could be disastrous for Eddie..

Comment #40Maybe im bulling Villa up too much, but last years game was an awful watch, picked us to bits and Watkins tortured our right hand side.
Think we cud have some success ourselves as theyre a bit iffy at the back but really worried about our mobility in midfield and back 4.
