Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe in his press conference yesterday was upbeat and positive as usual.
And that’s always a good trait and Howe is also realistic and just a great role model for our young impressionable supporters.
You can’t go far wrong if you look at Eddie Howe and how he handles both his successes and the challenges we all get in life.
Howe does not have trouble this week in picking the Newcastle team, and although we are getting players back from injury like Jacob Murphy and perhaps Harvey Barnes, they are coming back to fitness slowly.
We look forward to when Joe Willock can return to the Newcastle first team – because he can make a difference with Joelinton out injured for the season.
Here’s a likely team Howe could put out tonight at Villa Park, where Aston Villa have won 9 and drawn one of their 10 home games in the Premier League this season.
Dubravka
Trippier (c) Schar Botman Burn
Miley Guimaraes Miley
Almiron Isak Gordon
That’s one change from the team that started last Saturday in the 2-0 win at Fulham.
Almiron is now fit again after his sickness and will likely start on the right wing in place of Jacob Murphy.

Comments welcome.

Comment #41Think Tino could play a holding role in front of back 4, let bruno have a touch less responsibility sitting in and filling spaces.
Far too much space between our lines.

Comment #42Can Eddie work out Emery’s tactics and actually get his team to keep the ball. And even win it back…
Couldnt last year. Will he learn. Or will he continue to do the same thing…
We shall see

Evening check lad, tonight is going to be very formidable fixture, Villa away are totally different kettle of fish to Fulham marra, i would be over the moon if we came away with a point mate, but to achieve even that we need to vastly improve on that performance at Craven Cottage, otherwise it could be a long night young check.

Comment #49This will obviously be tough. Nothing between the starting 11’s, but they are at home and will undoubtedly have the stronger bench, and it’s a quick turnaround for us. I always believe we can come away with something, but realistically, this one is a tall order. Fingers and toes crossed, and bum squeaking for this one, but regardless, once it’s done, things will start looking up for us. We just need a few back, alongside what looks a kinder run of fixtures to get back in the top six mix, which I’m fully expecting will happen.

Being a big faceceous there with CTT.
Not all of us can have blind faith, especially if we’ve watched every match during the past 2 months.
Doesn’t mean we don’t support the club, manager and players.

Comment #55If we had a fully fit squad I’d back us to give Villa a very good game, with a win a real possibility. But our squad is severely depleted compared to theirs.
That is the reality of where we are at this moment in time.
If we win it will be a fantastic achievement.

Comment #56Hobbit – im posting an opinion on a blog not whinging in the stands.
Fully behind the lads, wouldnt hear a louder supporter in the ground. However we have been poor lately.
Suppose your happy with 4 straight losses and most likely 5. Im concerned for Eddie as he’s a mint bloke, however is in a hole with how he’s setting his team up.
Shape Up man. You support the team in the ground, not on an anonymous blog. Which is most certainly do. Irrespective of performance or result. Unlike most who fcuk off to catch a bus on 88 minutes.

Comment #57Though shall not criticise although we cant keep the ball and our best player for 6 weeks (Tino) is still overlooked for Burn.
Man of the match against Fulham, fcuk off man.
He’s been a great signing BDB but absolutely should not be playing instead of Tino. Does zero with the ball and is targeted by opponents manager. Have folk forgot about Chris Wood embarrassing him.. cause he hacked in from a yard the other day.

Comment #61The loss of Tonali was the single biggest blow to our campaign, I firmly believe. It still upsets me.
Next term though,we will take on all comers, at all times, with genuine and justifiable confidence. This one, we must soldier on, and hang in there til our injury crisis abates, which surely must happen soon.

Comment #66Chico- your forebears are involved !
There’s no other club in in the world that can claim a music hall song from 1862 that has its tune in the roots of an American Ballard.
“Blaydon Races” is a Geordie folk song of 1862, with lyrics by George Ridley written in a style deriving from music hall. It celebrates the horse races held at Blaydon in North East England that year, although mostly composed in advance of the event. The words were
inspired by the American ballad “On the Road to Brighton” (in Massachusetts), to the tune of which they are set. The song has become a local anthem and is frequently sung by
supporters of Newcastle United Football
Club.
That’s from Wiki, loads more out there to read up on.

Comment #67Hibbit – impress other posters.
Give over.
We have been predictable and served up poor stuff for a while.
But we shud all just continue to say Eddie is untouchable as a coach, when clearly he is having a moment being pretty shit to be fair.
Hopefully he sorts it out as he’s a great fella, however maybe he doesn’t. If we finish 17th this season he deserves to start next. However surely even the biggest of deluded fans would maybe accept he could be questioned at that point. 5 losses on the trot tonight.
And we should have been beat 8-0 at Anfield.

We are getting our wires crossed as difficult times are when we were getting relegated into the 2nd tier of English football. Or being managed by Bruce. That’s difficult times in my book. Our injury crisis is tough but just terrible bad luck which if it were not for that we wouldn’t have seen the emergence of L Miley. Every cloud and all that . Just trying to keep our positivity up mate 😉

Comment #70Anyone who has been on here understand im a massive Eddie fan and have been since day1.
The concern is based on the unraveling of his tactics and ability to dominate games currently. We have maybe one player who is not prem league ready (miley). There is no current injury crisis. Luton and Forest, say no more..

Comment #72Nah, Eddie’s great. Injuries and suspension have derailed our campaign, yet we still get stuck right in. We’ll give it a real good go tonight, but you worry about the last twenty. Excellent to at least have a first choice winger the bring off the bench tonight though. That will help quite a bit.

Comment #73I think people need to have a reality check if they think CTT is posting negative comments just to score brownie points. Dear me that’s Munster carry on that not wor CTT…Check is one of the lads, that I’m 100% sure of and I can see this from a mile away, seen it from day 1…
Although he has been a little negative lately in his comments which is strange for him as he was always a glass half full type. I hope he hasn’t been gannin on that munter and Sean Casey whatsapp bollix group and been possessed by the eejits 😆

Comment #75Hes gone back to the back 4 of last season to try and get some stability. Which is sort of understandable but thats not the issue the protection from in front is the problem. The midfield cannot keep the ball so it just ends up back at Bruno and Dubravka and the opposition.

Have you had a crack at playing the ‘Road to Brighton’ tune ? Think the sheet music is out there or online.
Good turn to play that then The Blaydon Races.
