Newcastle Crush Aston Villa 3-1 In Sensational Win

After Aston Villa had won 9 games and had one draw in their first 10 league games at home this season, Newcastle inflicted the first defeat on the Villians tonight at Villa Park in the league.

And it was two goals from center-back Fabian Schar and an own goal from Alex Moreno that had Newcastle 3-0 up after 52 minutes before Ollie Watkins pulled one back for Villa.

Newcastle were 2-0 up from Schar’s brace at half time and Newcastle are again showing that intensity and energy we showed last season and in the first half of this season.

The lads have recovered from their two games a week escapade.

After 32 minutes, Kieran Trippier put in a terrific corner, and Schar, who has a (very) good habit of scoring goals, volleyed the ball home.

And then four minutes later Gordon’s shot from range was deflected onto the cross-bar and it was Schar again who put the ball home.

And he must have been thinking of a possible hat-trick right there.

🙂

An own goal from Moreno for Newcastle and a goal from Ollie Watkins completed the 3-1 scoreline.

It was a terrific 3 points for Newcastle after we had suffered four successive league defeats.

🙁

And we are back, but of course, we have picked up another injury with Isak injured in the game.

We are now on 32 points from our 22 league games and are now (only?) 11 points behind 4th-placed Villa.

We are 3 points from 6th placed West Ham, with a better goal difference.

And maybe Newcastle will now try to bring in a decent striker in the final two days of this January transfer window.

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match In 3-1 Win At Aston Villa?

    Awesome just awesome

    Eddie got everything right today

    Murphy starting correct call
Miggy when he came on on his actual side not this inverted nonsense looked much better correct call
    Livramento on the right time
Bruno much more disciplined so there wasn’t as big a gap they have been working on it for sure

Only downer was Isak and potentially Dubs being injured talk about bad luck

Gordon actually has better hold up play and can play with his back to goal better than Isak mind you although needs to improve his finishing

Can we get another player in before the window closes ?

Firstly bill sorry to hear you’ve had a scare. However very happy you’re on the road to recovery. Scares are there to give you a nudge to address something which has caused you your scare. Stay strong fella, you’ll be fine ?

Secondly, what a performance that was from the lads, I had a feeling we didn’t get out of second gear against Fulham to keep back what we witnessed tonight. Now that was what the doctor ordered, the tonic we needed to put a good run together. We’re up to 7th and before we know it will be top 6 – Keep the faith people Eddie still has it and he was as cool as a cucumber on that touchline tonight. Can’t keep a good man down.

    Ffs, shameless repost….
What a result, great battling performance.
I did say this morning I had a sneak we could get a result. Despite what the pundits would have you believe Villa have been poor recently, probably not as poor as we’ve been but we’ve been showing the green shoots of recovery imo. 1 prem win in 5 for Villa now and that win was a late pen against a Burnley side who’d played with 10 men for most of the 2nd half.
Table looks so much better, still games to be played tomorrow obviously but still.
Eddie well outsmarted Emery, ‘oooooh he was awful but I liked it’ 😆

Rom/Fenham….it takes me an hour to type out a post with me 1 typing finger so if a new thread comes up in the meantime it’s getting reposted shamelessly.
Now the big question is will I need to repost this post about reposting? 😆

    Eddie Howe masterclass.
Get an extra forward back and we improve immediately, who’d have thunk it.
