Here is the match cam (behind-the-scenes) video of our great 3-1 win at Villa Park last night, which was Villa’s first home defeat of the season in the league.
And they had gone 11 months since their last league defeat at home.
It was an excellent result for us, when we needed it most, and Eddie Howe’s game plan was excellent and we expect other clubs to copy what Newcastle did last night.
Villa played very narrowly in a 4-2-2-2 formation and Newcastle exploited that by using our wingers effectively, and with balls over the top.
Here’s the match cam video.

Comment #44AnyToon in Indiana… It’s a Premier league rule that away fans have to be positioned pitch side. We have special dispensation as we don’t have an area pitch side that we could segregate correctly for 3k away fans. Basically they would need to use the same entrance/exit as home fans…I think!

Comment #46We were never going to do Saudi deals for 2 reasons.
1 We couldn’t afford the wages.
2 Tax reasons (which is why Henderson went to Ajax instead of Chelsea)
The idea of loaning from the Saudi clubs was something Dan Ashworth put out there to see what would happen. What happened was another vote in their view to stifle our aim to be number 1 club. It backfired and our club got to tick another box on our list.

Comment #47Reports now that the Saudis will move into rugby union investment, starting with sponsorship and naming rights for stadiums at Gloucester, Leicester and the Newcastle Falcons.
Always thought that Kingston Park and Bullocksteads next door could be the site for a world class training ground complex. But the whole lot and move the University pitches to Benton where they’d get ready made high end facilities convenient to both City based Universities
The Falcons Ground becomes a shared stadium for NUFC ladies, U21’s and the Falcons. The rest of the area sees the new State of the art, eco-friendly training complex and pitches for the first team. Close to airport and Darras Hall, Gosforth, Morpeth where players mainly live.
Maybe the start of the project…

Comment #55Read a few reports that Jose Mourinho wants a return to man u which would be trouble for Marcus Rashford as they clashed when he was last manager there. If man u go for Mourinho that would be a huge mistake and is only good news for NUFC if it happens… Him going back there is like a couple who had the most toxic of relationships getting back together and we all know that it never ends well 😉

Comment #60Nottingham Forest have made a €6m-€7m bid to sign Matz Sels from Strasbourg. Remember him?
He was woeful for us as his confidence was absolutely shot to bits. He then went to Strasbourg and managed to get back into the Belgium set up. He was always a decent keeper but it just goes to show if you lose confidence you’re the shell of the person you once were.

Looks like the proposed new system to align the EPL with UEFA will continue to shackle aspiring clubs in the same way as FFP, while protecting the established big spenders. 🙁

Comment #64Yes good article that Hibbit #57 from the Mag…
This meeting they’re having with the 20 EPL clubs and the EPL with rule changes, I do hope that the changes will assist us a bit more rather than stifling our growth. Every little helps I guess.

Comment #66If these systems and rules are put in place to protect clubs from financial ruin at the hands of reckless/unscrupulous owners, why not put in an exception clause where a bond is placed by any club to cover an amount that exceeds the normal limit?
Raj of Hailsley

Comment #67It’s even less fair than the other system, it leaves only around 8 European clubs able to pay your Salah’s, KDB’s and Bruno £300K+ pw, obviously the best players will gravitate to those clubs.

Comment #69Govt and PL can’t be too impressed with the lack of spending on players.
Forest’s keeper is awful but Sels is a strange answer, unless we just got him for the dodgy bit in his career.
So my buddy was texting asking about him. I didn’t cheer him up on a cold Thursday morning 🙂

Comment #78The new ffp rule about the salary percentage could be difficult for clubs aspiring to be in Europe to turn down. It’s a uefa rule so they could be refused European entry if they don’t conform.
Is that a way for uwfa to control how clubs are run and keep the elite, elite.
