Here is the match cam (behind-the-scenes) video of our great 3-1 win at Villa Park last night, which was Villa’s first home defeat of the season in the league.
And they had gone 11 months since their last league defeat at home.
It was an excellent result for us, when we needed it most, and Eddie Howe’s game plan was excellent and we expect other clubs to copy what Newcastle did last night.
Villa played very narrowly in a 4-2-2-2 formation and Newcastle exploited that by using our wingers effectively, and with balls over the top.
Here’s the match cam video.

Comment #86NUFC set to appoint Jonny King as our new senior physio, according to @ground_guru.
He’s currently at Leicester, but looks like someone Eddie and his coaching staff will know well from their time at Bournemouth. Jonny King will have his work cut out that’s for sure.

Comment #87This club has always been blighted by injuries. No matter what. I remember going to Old Trafford way back without a centre forward. We played a UEFA cup semi final against Marseille without a striker.
It never ends. Is it poor preparation or bad luck?

We sit 7th.
We have already played the top 2 home and away.
Only 3 games to play against teams above us.
Arsenal away.
West Ham at home and Spurs at home I think.

Comment #91I wonder how many stories of signings have come out from the press/ITK’s over the transfer window for the whole premier league. Hundreds, thousands? A few more than the number of players signed, that’s for sure. 😀

Comment #92Lee Ryder stating Ipswich want Paul Dummett. His contract finishes at the end of the season so could make space for a loan move.

Comment #93According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are set to sign Harrison from Manchester City, in a deal that could end up costing the Magpies £3.5million.
They state that the initial fee is lower than that, but the deal includes various clauses and a sell-on clause.
The Manchester Evening News’ Simon Bajkowski has provided further details, stating that the sell-on clause is as high as 40%. That is pretty high, and is testament to how highly rated the teenager is.

Comment #94Could be a decent move for dummett if it meant we got some money
The best season he had for is In terms of fitness was in the championship not sure if that’s a coincidence or not but maybe his body can better cope with that level ?

Comment #95With Dummetts contract expiring at the end of the season, doubt any move would include a fee. We’d probably be happy to let him leave for free and just get the wages off the books.

Comment #99Swablr, yes £3.5 million is what the final fee will be. Highly rated prospect so probably the going rate for an eighteen year old.

Comment #100Harvey Barnes will definitely be in Saturday’s squad for the home game against Luton. Was deemed fit to play against Villa but ended up not travelling.

Comment #102I’d definitely take Broja for the rest of the season if it was an option.
But from the sounds of it we don’t have the funds.
I’d not do an obligation to buy though. Just plain old loan with option.

Comment #103I wonder if Howe has half an eye on Harrison for the first team to help with injuries?
He’s shown with Lewis that if you’re good enough, your age won’t go against you.

Fire up the Audi and ideally take out a few treehuggers for me on the way, or at least tell them to have a wash

Comment #107Will be interesting to see how we deal with Luton they have quite a good game plan which caused us issues last time we played them
We couldn’t press them because they just launched it before we could get near but then they aggressively pressed the 2nd ball from that which we lost out on quite a bit
I think having that quick mobile front 3 who can interchange will make us really deadly on the counter which might be the difference

Comment #109Javea…thanks for the info as to why we seat the away section where we do. Ok though they were to be close but didn’t know we got a special reprieve due to those circumstances. No wonder other clubs double hate coming here and all the better to not build a new place. 😉

Comment #110Great news on Barnes as that at least gives us a little wiggle room to rotate up top. I am also looking forward to him and Willock together which might not have happened with Joelinton in. Just seems like a good combo.

Comment #113I watched the highlights on MotD and I really don’t understand the logic of the editors. They didn’t bother to show Villa’s offside goal which to me would have been the turning point of the game if it had stood – thank goodness it wasn’t and we were relatively comfortable after that but still mind boggling not to show it!

Comment #120Looking at the Match Cam good to see Bruno as fired up as ever.
Also, that Murphy really credited Miggy with his efforts that contributed to the third goal and that after the whistle Miggy was ushered from the back of the group into the heart of the celebration. Hall was quite quiet at the back of the group but maybe to his credit he held back a little as he didn’t play but his day will come and there’s a lot to look forward to for him, the team and fans.
