Here is the match cam (behind-the-scenes) video of our great 3-1 win at Villa Park last night, which was Villa’s first home defeat of the season in the league.
And they had gone 11 months since their last league defeat at home.
It was an excellent result for us, when we needed it most, and Eddie Howe’s game plan was excellent and we expect other clubs to copy what Newcastle did last night.
Villa played very narrowly in a 4-2-2-2 formation and Newcastle exploited that by using our wingers effectively, and with balls over the top.
Here’s the match cam video.

Comment #241Some more good news on the injury front, looks like Jamie Miley is back out training after a knee injury. He was in and around the squad in pre-season so possibly another player for the bench.

Comment #242Tindall in the presser reckons Isak has a slight chance of making the game tomorrow. Assessing him today.
Odd that.
If it’s his groin again, surely he doesn’t recover that quick and it’d be a hell of a risk to rush him back?

Comment #243I wonder if it was more of a tightness and they took him off as a precaution, given his record. Maybe the assessment/scan showed no real damage there.

Comment #244Barnes and Wilson also have potential to be involved, but too soon for Willock.

Maybe I heard incorrectly, but I swear Howe after the Villa game said he thought it was maybe a Psychological thing. Watched in a pub so maybe misheard that…..
But if so, could be tightness like you said, or he thought he felt something and then couldn’t shake it out of his head and turned out to not really be anything.

Comment #246I think I’d rather they didn’t risk Isak regardless tbh. Slowly getting people back is great and I don’t think there’s any need to take risks with anyone. The club knows better than I do…hopefully anyway or we’re really in trouble. 😆

I think Isak has been playing with that injury most of the season,I don’t think it ever properly healed from when he first had the issue!
I think they might have found a way to manage it as he has looked much more mobile the last few games imo!

I didn’t catch his interview so can’t help you out there.
It’s hard to know. I obviously haven’t played professionally but playing cricket I’ve had a few injuries over the years. Currently running about with a torn meniscus in my knee which I thought was just a bit of stiffness but never bothered me much. Then other times I’ve had hip issues which physio’s haven’t been able to put down to anything serious but I’ve struggled to walk as every ten steps my leg would slightly buckle…. our bodies are funny things.
I do hope they can get to the bottom of it though as there are certainly games you can see he is either feeling it or worrying, as he just looks that fraction slower and isn’t gliding past players. He look right at it against Villa though until he had to go off.

Comment #249It was Son from Spurs last season that really made it hit home for me how much we don’t know. So he looked well off form last year, missing loads of chances, barely getting a goal and a lot thought it was just his age and he was done. Over the summer her had hernia surgery as he’d been managing that for the season and now he plays like he’s 5 years younger.
Hopefully whatever is ailing Isak is cleared up by next season.

Comment #252Right so all agreed that was the most disappointing transfer window weve had in years? On the plus though i think it will give us a much much stronger summer window.
I think theres plenty of money there to actually be spent. But it just cant be spent until this season is over. Thats my hunch, that wrre close to the limit but it will reset in June.

We’ll reset in July but agree with the sentiment.
All our new sponsorship deals will be kicking in and it’ll give us another 6 months to get deals lined up and sounds things out. If we can bring in another 3/4 players of the quality of Bruno/Tonali/Gordon/etc… then we could be flying.
A top quality right winger, another number 6 who can cover Bruno or play with him at times, a striker and a pacey CB…we could be flying.

Comment #261The French Revolution just about tops it for me as it was totally unexpected we’d go it. The first under PIF was good but expected we’d do good business.
That game against Chelsea at SJP where Sissoko just ran Ashley Cole into the ground and scored to get us a good win was memorable after that.
The year before when we got Cisse in was pretty special too. Such an amazing run that first half season.

Comment #264Not much going on today is there, very quiet, it was even quieter yesterday with the quietest window on record i think.
Don`t worry about being short in centre mid once Bruno gets a ban lads n lasses, Mr flexible AG will stand in for Bruno once we have Miggy, Barnes and Murphy up and running, which could be as soon as this weekend.
Play Longy in the holding role in CM, Miley and Gordon in there pestering the life out of the opposition, with Murphy and Miggy supplying Isak, job done.
Well, it was just a thought 🙂

Where have I suggested for a single minute that I know better than the manager regarding Hayden, completely unfounded that. I simply put forward an opinion of why I would rather Hayden stayed instead of no one, I have not said they’re wrong and I’m right, in fact I’ve actually stated that there’s obviously a good reason for him going, so your accusation that “I know better” than the manager was churlish and way off the mark.
