Let us know who you think was Newcastle’s Man of the Match in the unexpected 3-1 win at Villa Park last night.
It wasn’t just an unexpected win, but the lads look back to their best even though we still have players out injured.
But this performance and the fact we have on average only one game a week to play tjhrough the end of the season, will probably mean there will be no activity in the transfer market before the window closes at 11:00pm on Thursday night.
Isak picked up a (slight?) groin injurylate in the first half last night, and that’s the third time this season for him, so we don’t think he will be available for the home game on Saturday afternoon against Luton Town.
The KO time is a strange one too – 3:00pm.
Maybe Callum Wilson can come in if he’s fit, and we could also play Anthony Gordon up front with Almiron and Murphy on the wings.
What do you think?

In fairness, you can’t jude Isaks ‘brittleness’ over what work he’s put in over the last 2 games.
You judge it over the work he’s put in over the course of the season so far, especially how much work he’s had to do since coming back from his original groin issue.
Which has been 8 games (8 and a half including Villa) where he’s played the whole match in 5 of those, 3 of those being the most recent 3 matches.
That work load when coming from a groin injury, there’s always going to be a chance of it re-occuring. If Wilson was available during that time, Isak wouldn’t have put anywhere near as much work load in and likely avoided the re-occurence imo.

Comment #8I’m no expert on physiology, but comparing Isaks build to Watkins, you can see why our man breaks down a lot. His frame is willowy, like a cross country runner, whereas Watkins has a much more solid build, like a sprinter. Hopefully our fitness team can give him a bespoke fitness programme that eliminates the weakness that he clearly has in his groin. The irony is that we also have Wilson, who has a similar build to Watkins, but is much more injury prone.

Best rumour yet, from a Portugese reporter/journalist Pedro Almeida:
Newcastle ready to make an offer (close to release clause) to Sporting for Goncalo Inacio.
Yeah, sure…..
A center back which isn’t priority right now for close to his 60m euro release clause….
I don’t think so 🙂

Comment #10Not so sure Jail. A lot of negative comment about him on here. He’s an excellent manager, hugely respected tactically with a bunch or trophies in the locker. And he was PIFs first choice, so definitely no mug. Not sure who was fawning over him, if that’s what you think paying him compliments is. He’s a good manager, the end. Luckily we have a fast rising one too.

Comment #12He has played 5 whole matches…you compare that to Bruno in the midfield war zone, with his running stats. Yes I’d call him brittle. Or subject to niggly injuries.

You completely ignored my other points. Those games were where he has come back from a groin injury, most likely without full time to recover 100% due to Wilson being injured as usual.
Bruno comparrison makes no sense as Bruno hasn’t come back from injury and been rushed back due to no other options.

Comment #18Anderson back training on grass today. If all goes well with him, he should be back in a week or two.
Barnes, Wilson and Lascelles back for the game on Saturday. So a few more options upfront if Isak is not available.
Willock and Targett back for Forest away.
2 wins in a row away from home already in 2024. Matches our tally this season before the turn of the year.
Team playing like they were at the start of the season. You could see it coming in the performances recently, they were getting better game by game.
Plenty of reasons to be positive about.
